You can play music from a USB and stuff I think. Well I know the media player lets you. But I've never tried to snap that. I've been using Xbox Music because I had a one month trial

Last time I used a One you couldn't even use a USB for music let alone play music while you played a game.

Would also need to toggle it off for competitive events. Some of the new featuers are there just to help new players with the game. I would not mind it at all if they would take away some of the crutches like clamber as you rank up higher in the divisions.

What if a little picture of a Rocket Launcher would pop up next the the game clock ten seconds before it was going to spawn? This could be enabled in social gametypes.
I hadn't thought of that. Yeah having it on during Competitive matches would just clutter things up.
That'd certainly be an interesting way to go with abilities. While I don't see them taking clamber out of the picture for the maps they ship with the game maybe they could add options for customs so that people could turn it off and design maps around those. I mean hell if the Forge in H2A is an indication Halo 5 Forge is gonna be amazing. Here's hoping theater is as well.

Ya that would work much better. Just a little reminder is all you need. Better then having a giant hologram gun spinning around with Spartans yelling at you ever 10 seconds to go get the rockets. That would also make player need to learn the location of the weapon spawns with out the game holding their hand as it dose now. Its funny how people here on gaf are 10 times more innovative then the devs at 343 who just rip off other games and claim they innovated.
The skill isn't in the weapon itself, it's the mechanics of the game.
Look at Counter-strike, most if not all the weapons are full-auto, with the exception of a shotgun and snipers.
The recoil management is where the skill hides, and the raw aiming due to no sticky aim or auto-aim in CS, because it's a PC game.
In Halo, the sticky aim should be minimal at best, and practically no auto-aim. Whether a person is using a burst fire or semi-auto gun doesn't matter.
Wouldn't worry about theater too much. Game DVR makes it obsolete anyway.
Not really when you consider screenshots, machinima, kill replays, and walkthroughs are very dependent on it. Not so much that last one but still. That's a lot of content that'd be cut and just recording a first person clip of the kill isn't going to cut it for Halo kills.
Not to mention dramatic shots that theatre really helps with.

I really like the idea of a bureaucratic edition of Halo. It would really help with the immersion into the universe.

edit: Storyline for Halo 5 confirmed. John ducked out on paying Mjolnir taxes on his suit for too long. IRS Agent Locke is a specialist, and is sent in to collect what is owed to the UNSC. What he doesn't realize though is that taxes aren't the only illegal thing Chief has been up to. Underneath all of it he's been running an illegal gambling ring that sells Forerunner smut porn on the side.

There are some amazing things people do with theater from capturing beautiful shots to showing off that kill you got where the sticky you threw was redirected by an explosion, bounced off a wall, fell into a man cannon, was boosted by another explosion to the top of the map and then fell down onto the enemy warthog with the flag, killing the carrier, ending the game and leaving you completely confused.

If I could say "Xbox Record Last Game" and it would save the entire game I just played, then maybe GameDVR could be considered a replacement for Theater but even then you are still losing a lot of theater functionality like the ability to independently control the camera.

Recoil is a trait that could be applied to any of those weapons. Same goes for the levels of aim assist. Assume all unmentioned traits are equal for the weapons listed. Is there any one weapon that seems like it would be more, or less, difficult to achieve the minimum killtime with?
At least it's not great grandad...yet.

BF4 was broken for over four months after release.
D3 had constant issues and was generally unfun until patch 2.0 released...almost a year later.
MCC still has a ways to go.

I played Bf4 on 360 maybe a month after it came out when I borrowed it off a friend and it worked fine.

Is there a visual countdown telling you when the weapons are up or are you just being trollish by saying there is a standard timer?
Either way, that has nothing to do with what I was saying. When an enemy grabs a sniper before my team does and the announcer says, "enemy team has the sniper" it kills the need for visual confirmation. Therefore my team will not venture toward the sniper spawn and we will be aware that the enemy has that weapon. It gives away too much when it is every teams responsibility to time the sniper spawn and communicate if they have it and when they picked it up.
Lol yeah don't know what that was about. Just bring back the Reach UI for 5.
Also, what was that about good news for Halo this week? Is it just the next update for MCC? Or are we talking new stuff for Halo 5?

It's funny because one of the biggest complaints I remember hearing, about ordnance drops as the standard weapon spawn system, was that it gives the enemy too much information because they could see when the weapon was picked up by when the ordnance marker disappeared. I guess 343 has a vision they are following. Their vision just sucks for Halo.

huh? I've been around for all of the aforementioned launches and at this point Halo MCC is easily the worst AAA launch I've ever seen.
I keep checking it out after each patch and it's still broken as hell, almost one full month later.
And bf4 was broken for months, mcc is among the top 5 no doubt, but bf4 was a nightmare. I even picked it back up later with some dlc and it was still awful.

I'm more okay with that over everyone knowing about everyone's actions without seeing it happen. That reminds me of gears of war. I would sneak around and pick up a sniper only to be greeted by players chasing me down because the game told them I picked it up.

Edit: I imagine that the visual timer would give away the same info, which I think is still cheap.

Fair enough, I guess only time will tell. It's just more jarring in this case (and a bigger deal IMO) because this is the flagship series for an already-hurting console.

It's sad. They seem to not understand how subtle details and inherent simplicity actually increases the skill gap and deepens the experience for players that take it more seriously than casual players.
Edit: It worked in both directions. The surface simplicity was great for casual play and the simplicity contained layers of depth and skill gap for competetive players. It makes it satisfying for both types of players without violating either one of them.
Ragnarok is right when he keeps saying that their design choices pander to casuals. It's not about hating on casuals.

You forgot about SimCity. Think that one takes the cake for worst launch ever. At least the other examples had good games buried beneath launch woes.
I think people forget very fast how bad these launches really were. In fact I couldn't play a proper BF4 match even 2 months after launch because the game kept crashing in loading screens and it was just an unplayable lag fest. All the lag got fixed about 6 months after release with the intoduction of new/improved servers. TMCC is out for 3 weeks now and at least I have an "okay" success rate for finding even and stable games. I expect with the next patch (if it will fix party matchmaking issues) the game will be in a solid state (there still are other frustrating bugs, but the real problem is solved then).

BF4 still pisses me off. I spend 60 dollars on it and it doesn't work for months. They get it somewhat stable and then they put out DLC so the community gets split right when the game is finally fixed. What a load of crap.
I pretty much agree with this.
Long-time Halo players inherently KNOW to check power weapon spawns every so often, even if you're not intense about the SPECIFIC timing, i.e. "rocks will be up at 8:17 guys!" However, for people used to more "modern" shooters, this is a unique aspect to Halo and I'm okay with making an audio call-out when a map power weapon is about to spawn. It's literally like having that "intense" guy on your team calling out power weapon spawns anyway, so in that sense like it in focuses even the scrub-iest people to play the game the way competitive Halo has always BEEN played.
That said, I DON'T think there should be audio-call outs for when those weapons are actually picked up, whether by your team or the enemy team. Players should be able to deduce that sort of thing on their own and based on where teammates are.
EDIT: I suppose I'd be okay with an audio cue that "our team picked up X" because if you're playing with a communicative competitive team, that actually would be communicated. The only way I'd be okay with the "enemy picked up X" would be if some player on your team was nearby the enemy when that happened, either a visual confirmation or within motion tracker range. Again, this would be a good way to "emulate" a team with good communication even if everyone is silent/lone wolf-ish.
I've had decent luck doing solo matchmaking for about a week. People say campaign is borked but I've had almost no issues

Nah maybe sim city seems right. MCC is straight garbage. By the looks of it, it's gonna be garbage for another while yet.
Plus MS has a hell of a lot more riding on MCC than EA had on BF4.
