Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

It's just the scope of the series that they have no confidence in that sticks out to me.

Street Fighter, Tomb Raider, Dead Rising, Sonic. These are all major brands that should be things the publishers are completely comfortable selling on their own since they're the flagships of the companies, yet here we are.

I doubt anyone can feel comfortable while trying to sell Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric (subtitle is important because the 3DS game would actually be a nice budget game).

They've gone and done it... they've gone and woke the sleeping dragon now.

Sony should have left well enough alone and now they're going to get it. It's not enough that they're bleeding benjamins from practically every crevice of their existence. Now they go and throw immense moneyhats at a niche game like Street Fighter just to piss off the market. Why pay to keep a game out of the hands of as many gamers as possible? Why not put that money into first-party studios and games instead?

I know, I know... this is the way the business goes as they say. Well, they forced Microsoft's hands with their early sales lead and Microsoft only responded with an NPD whooping (source: musings thread) by way of incredible deals and value. Microsoft will undoubtedly follow this announcement up with some real megatons of their own.

Gears remake collection. A true Banjo sequel. Halo 5 beta in the hands of gamers. The next Bayonetta, Dead Space and Crysis as exclusives. Those are the kinds of blockbuster response announcements I expect, and then some. You hit Microsoft with a jab, you best be ready for a flurry of uppercuts coming at you in response.

Wait so this post is serious? If so, instant classic.

I love how some think we're supposed to approach our reactions to this in some kind of vacuum or time warp in which MS hadn't already moneyhatted Tomb Raider and hadn't thrown money hats around like candy last generation.

Sorry guys, we don't live in a vacuum, the generation didn't launch with this exclusivity announcement. You've got MS's behavior all last gen and their behavior this gen to compare it to, and somehow Sony is supposed to just sit back and let MS put up money to get everything either full-exclusive or timed exclusive on XB1 so that Sony can uphold some kind of honor? Please.

I frequently read about how "competition is good" as an excuse for why MS and XB1 should be doing better . . . welcome to your competition . . . it's not just for MS to partake of.

As a PS4 only (and future WiiU owner) fuck 3rd party exclusives man. I'm disappointed Sony is following Microsoft last gen's example. They should put their money at their own studios and their own IPs.

On a side note i really hope this wasn't the "something unexpected" that Capcom was teasing in Dragon's Dogma official site.Because if it was man that was one of the worst trolls in the history of video games. :(

I'm going to assume it's exclusive in Japan only. If not, pretty shitty situation for Xbox players, it should be on both platforms.

That being said, it's disappointing it looks like SFIV. Each new numbered entry usually has a distinct look. It's time to move on from SFIV

It's not really surprising

You seem upset, why?

There are many discrepancies in reaction and opinion on many things within gaming.

For example last gen the ps3 got beat down in the press for every little gap in performance in relation to the 360, this gen many outlets actively fought against the perception the X1 was weaker than the PS4.

Many other examples exist I'm sure, numerous sequels to games can get shit on after awhile, while the upteenth Mario games sails on by.

So thats

Injustice Port exclusive (Dont laugh)
Guilty Gear port Exclusive
STV Full Exclusive

and MKX being pushed as leading on PS4 platform!

Yeah I dont see any reason why PS4 is not standard at Evo and other FG tournaments

Do you work for Microsoft, or own a lot of their stock? I don't understand why people take this kind of news so personally. So much salt in this thread, I'm just happy that Street Fighter 5 is getting made at all.

Nirolak the only game on that list you can call a major brand is TR if we going by sales.

Very cool. I hope Ryu and Chun-Li are the only returning characters. I feel like it could happen considering Street Fighter IV series' robust cast being so recent.

And it goes without saying this will be released in arcades, right? It would be weird if a top class series didn't make an appearance next to the games it influenced. But you never know these days.

And this isn't? Are we a 100% sure? You can really tell who is jumping to conclusions at these news just to hate. Let's wait for the whole story and an actual press release before claiming stuff we aren't sure of yet. Geez.

Like I said in my 1st post. "Temporary? IF thats true then..."

Im not sure if its true. I hope its temporary aswell!

I mean... Thats the competitive market between MS and Sony, temporary exclusives doesnt bother me that much. However... As long as I can play these 3rd parties wherever I want, some time later (specially these titles that were ever multiplatform).

If thats not temporary, it wont make me happy. But well, I can live with that.

Yeah tells us a lot about this industry. Apparently franchises like that are not even good enough anymore. They need assurance because what if it doesn't sell COD numbers?

Time to brew up a fresh batch of coffee!

Have a good one.

I imagine it's the costs race, since in order to compete and be profitable in the AAA industry you have to spend large amounts of money to keep up. I mean SE as FF but that's almost become a curse for them in AAA space.

SF is however a very big oddity, It's certainly not the most expensive of games to produce and has the least expectations on cutting edge graphics due to large dedicated community. It's extremely odd they couldn't take a risk on even that.

Man. So much fuel leading up to this announcement I'm surprised there isn't more an explosion of emotion from fanboys.

I have a PC, so I'm straight. Everyone should have a PC by now. For those that don't, put aside $5 for every time you complain about PC gaming on a forum and you too can play SFV with everyone else.

PS4 ain't a bad alternative

Just happy its not another Street Fight 4 (altough it sure looks like SF4)

Sony Moneyhatting SF5 makes as much sense as MS moneyhatting Dead Rising.

Those series already sold so damn much in favour of 1 platform anyway its not like Capcom are losing out on a lot on paper by cutting the other off.

Still not as scummy as Tomb Raider. You couldnt pre order SF5 on Xbox for 3 months.

While I am not fond of this development, Ono had said that SFV was having trouble getting funding within Capcom. It seems wise to understand the circumstances surrounding this decision before getting angry.

The best part about is post is that it's from open_mouth, so we know it is serious.

A new meltdown to be copypasta'd in a new generation!

I don't think it's bad too assume this game will be like SF3, either in terms of gameplay or story, or both! The use of SF3 footage makes sense because they want to show some exciting gameplay from past games, but they only use SF3 right? And "rise up" could be referring to how players will have to adapt to more complicated controls. Plus it justifies making this a whole new numbered entry, rather than SF4HD or whatever.

Maybe I'm just thinking about it too much.

MS is not preventing TR to release anywhere. Its temporary.

If SF turns out being temporary aswell, I would not care!

Yes it is, it is preventing a gamer that owns any other platform from playing TR, basically if you dont have an Xbox One or 360, you can f*** off

And we werent even told about the temporary exclusivity until people complained and we still dont know when it even ends

What makes the TR deal even worse is that it was not an exclusive at E3, people preordered and we ready, then it was announced as an exclusive

This SFV deal can still cater to many XOne owners

I'm actually surprised its launching on PC to be honest, though Ive never been a PC player so that's probably me out of the loop.

But I still have a Virtua Stick High Grade, and this might be a reason to look into a HTPC setup.
