They've gone and done it... they've gone and woke the sleeping dragon now.

Sony should have left well enough alone and now they're going to get it. It's not enough that they're bleeding benjamins from practically every crevice of their existence. Now they go and throw immense moneyhats at a niche game like Street Fighter just to piss off the market. Why pay to keep a game out of the hands of as many gamers as possible? Why not put that money into first-party studios and games instead?

I know, I know... this is the way the business goes as they say. Well, they forced Microsoft's hands with their early sales lead and Microsoft only responded with an NPD whooping (source: musings thread) by way of incredible deals and value. Microsoft will undoubtedly follow this announcement up with some real megatons of their own.

Gears remake collection. A true Banjo sequel. Halo 5 beta in the hands of gamers. The next Bayonetta, Dead Space and Crysis as exclusives. Those are the kinds of blockbuster response announcements I expect, and then some. You hit Microsoft with a jab, you best be ready for a flurry of uppercuts coming at you in response.
Gears Collection? Will it work just as good as MCC? , and they had to bleed money just to win November, Microsoft needs to win by making original IP's and maybe start paying their indie dev's too

Whilst it sucks for X1 owners, but the way I see it is that I guess Sony won't let MS to moneyhat everything. Gotta fight fire with fire after all.

How is it worse when MS moneyhatted TR to prevent a PC version from happening as well?

MS is not preventing TR to release anywhere. Its temporary.

If SF turns out being temporary aswell, I would not care!

I thought for sure people were misinterpreting and it's just a timed exclusive, but that sure does say plain old "exclusive." That's very surprising.

Yeah, I mean, look how well it saved the Wii u. Sony's so screwed.

Sony got robbed from this megaton for the Playstation Experience.

Ono, couldn't you not wait 1 day longer? ;-)

But maybe there is more... DMC 5 exclusive on PS4, haha.

Guys, it's obviously just console or region exclusive to PS4. What the video is referring to is most likely a theoretical concept like, 'imagine if SFV was PS4 exclusive', but it's actually also on Xbox.

Don't read too much into it, guys. :D

I'm getting so excited I went back and watched the greatest Street Fighter moment again, and it's still just so perfect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KS7hkwbKmBM

Exclusivity discussion people - Ono has repeatedly said they couldn't greenlight the budget for this game, if being launch exclusive means we get SF V then I'm stoked.

Stop comparing it to Tomb Raider and hinting at how Sony biased this forum is, that's super weird.

And it's funny seeing a few people talk about how it doesn't look very good, reminds me of the early SFIV stuff that everyone hated on, I'm psyched to see this running at 1080p/60 on my TV with what will surely be amazing animation and effects.

True but I think too many were stung on the PS3 and the PS4 looks much worse than even that, so it's either play the AAA game or bail for safer revenue sources.

It's just the scope of the series that they have no confidence in that sticks out to me.

Street Fighter, Tomb Raider, Dead Rising, Sonic. These are all major brands that should be things the publishers are completely comfortable selling on their own since they're the flagships of the companies, yet here we are.

This is some "shot in the foot" tier shit right here.

Capcom has seen almost every business venture of late either fail or decline, and they don't seem to have much business vision at the top outside of "something is popular, let's try that," so I suspect they've decided to retreat to trying to make money the easiest and safest way possible.

I feel they're a candidate for becoming the next Tecmo Koei as opposed to a local industry leader like they once were.

Sad very sad, I wonder how sustainable MH will be for them.

I only have a xb1(gift) and can't afford a ps4 or a pc(broke) so my stance on this situation has been set for me. Ah well, life goes on.

Curious as to whether this was a moneyhat or Sony just helping Capcom get out a major franchise. If the latter, well complainers can suck it. We all wanted this to come out, if this expedites that then what's the problem?

BTW, this might be exclusive but Capcom did several revisions for SFIV...Super Street Fighter V, when it comes out, will probably include XB1.

Even if it were the case - which it isn't - consistent art style is a bad thing now?

Will you be disappointed if Rockstar doesn't go with anime cell shaded graphics for GTA6?

Are you kidding me?

So you are telling me SF looked like SFII, or SFIII, or SFIV? Or even the offshoot Alpha?

Yes, once Capcom made a SF game they milked it for all it's worth with new versions, but when it's time to make a new game, it's time to make a new game.

We saw the ink brush look last gen. SFIV was ugly as sin anyway, especially compared to other current fighting games. Make a new game, Capcom.

We do not know the full story yet. Given what Ono said about Capcom not willing to foot the bill for SFV and not giving him the funds to port Ultra SF IV to next gen, along with his constant visits to Sony.....it could be a situation where Sony has injected some cash into the project, a bit like what Nintendo did with Bayonetta 2.

If that's the case then I'm glad that we're at least getting a Street Fighter V.

This is true too. Ono has said before that Capcom wasn't willing to pay.

We aren't sure it is exclusive worldwide yet. Also, we don't know the situation in which SFV became a PS4 exclusive, TR2 initially revealed as a multiplat title and later re-revealed as an XBO exclusive. Ono had been hinting PS4 + SF for over a year now and his latest comments made it look like Capcom was very reluctant on greenlighting projects if they weren't huge sellers. SF isn't as big as Resident Evil.
There is also this. I'm thinking this is a co-development deal btwn Ono, a few of his guys, and a Sony development team in Japan with Capcom's permission to use the license and maybe assisting here and there. Knowing Capcom they'd of just kept milking IV w/ more revisions rather than jump on a new SF.

I'm just glad that my favorite fighter from last gen (some issues notwithstanding) is coming back, and hopefully XBO owners can find a way to get in on the fun if in fact it is more like the RotTR situation.

The SonyGAF shit is just sad banter from bitter folk with memories too short to recall the PS3 generation :p

But I don't necessarily think comparisons to Rise of Tomb Raider are wrong, until we get information on how this game is being funded. If Sony paid just to prevent it to go to XBO, that's wrong. If Sony paid to make the project come alive at all, that's different.

Okay, so open_mouth_ is actually a troll/not serious. I'm finally glad that mystery is solved, I was never really quite sure until that latest post.

I'm pretty salty about the decision to stick to this weird artstyle but at least it looks like Capcom has improved the modeling and animation a great deal over SFIV.

it would be both pathetic and hilarious if Capcom could not put forth (or did not want to) funding and manpower for a series they leech off of at any moment they can.

And tomb raider sold more on playstation.....also proof SFIV sold more on 360?

Maybe he thinks USA = World.

From what I understood last gen if going by their yearly financial reports, PS3 was their biggest earner if going by platforms.

The only franchise which did better on 360 were the ones which originated on 360 which were Lost Planet and Dead Rising.

This takes the cake. Best GIF of the week..
Screw yall for hating on the Wii U btw :(
So Sony moneyhat for SFV, everything is alright.

MS moneyhat for TR, shitstorm ensues.

Gotta love the hypocrites here.
Who are you talking about? Most people ITT don't condone this move. Gotta love that persecution complex.

Please let this be the new "I'm an expert" copypasta, this is too good. Damn.

We know why, it is pretty obvious
Please don't argue that we're all biased toward Sony and hate MS, the situation is entirely different. ROTTR was announced for PS4, PS3, and PC as well but two months later MS announced exclusivity. People were excited for the game but now those without an X1 (let's be honest who's going to want the last gen version?) won't be able to play it next year when it releases. Two audiences (Playstation and PC) were pissed off by the announcement.

From the start, Street Fighter V was announced as a console exclusive and is also coming to PC. The Xbox Audience wasn't promised anything.
