The Game Awards 2014 Thread: Keighley unveils, less McHales

I don't know. I'm glad people are excited about it, but do you want me to lie and say it was amazing and looked like something I hadn't already seen or experienced in something like a SotC or Skyrim or any similar game in the last ten-fifteen years or so. What was compelling about that except it was Link?

Anyway, that was a classier show than what we got in the past and props to Geoff for putting it together. It's always a nice E3-type event in December.

i did it

It was pretty decent. Too much Nintendo keynote, though. I think it would be a good idea to have performances of songs from nominated games next year as well.

The pack of wild stallions running through the woods with Link and Epona was glorious.

Also, Bill and Ted confirmed for Zelda Wii U!

All in all a great show. Definitely tuning in next year if they are keeping it like this. Just drop the comedians, and it will be even better.

So this is what you meant
When you said that you were spent
And now it's time to build from the bottom of the pit
Right to the top
Don't hold back
Packing my bags and giving the academy a rain-check

I don't ever wanna let you down
I don't ever wanna leave this town
'Cause after all
This city never sleeps at night

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
That I'm never changing who I am

good catch, i enjoyed the mash up

C'mon guys, lets not pretend the way the newest Zelda was shown was bizarre as fuck. What Rockstar did with Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3 pre-release are the optimal ways of presenting gameplay. Zelda Wii-U still needs some time in the oven, that's obvious. The direction they're going in and what they're doing with the franchise is commendable though.

Show was meh, but it was definitely better than last year. Geoff really tried to redeem himself for last year's debacle

Great show all around
Fantastic mix of everything, great vids Lindsey Stirling was great as always and the last musical number with Kondo and Imagine Dragons was amazing.
Good stuff all around.
Light years better than last year.

Gamers are funny

"Wont be happy unless the Nintendo reveal is something major"

-shows new Zelda footage, confirms 2015 release date, and mentions Star Fox also.

"Game looks bad, not good enough."

Ok then.

They spent half of the time not even touching the control stick as a horse sprinted through fields.

In true Nintendo fashion, we weren't allowed to have the game footage on the entire screen because... they think that's a good thing?

They mentioned Star Fox. They name-dropped it, promised it's going to be here before Zelda in 2015, yet refuse to show it. That's weird and uncomfortable.

I don't care what others say, I enjoyed the show. Sure there were some things that could be smoothed out(more awards on stage please) but I sincerely hope it makes a return next year. Kudos to Geoff Keighley for doing this.

Gotta love people that judge Zelda on the footage that was shown. The biggest thing you should take away from it, is how different this game is compared to other Zeldas. It's huge in scope, you have so much freedom. Take that with the level of quality of Zelda games and you have some hype right there.

Yeah, how dare people judge things that they see. /s

9/10 IMO. Wasnt perfect but it had the right intentions. No bullshit. Compared to VGA's this was the first show I've ever sat through entirely.
