never saw a village or marth on a shelf to begin with. Why should Nintendo continue to make Amiibos that nobody is buying? And they are just gonna waste retail space
If you want those Amiibos so bad why dont you buy them while they are still available sitting on retail shelves or online
I dont see the issue here
whete? I definitely don't see shill or rosalina on Amazon.caJust pre ordered Diddy, Luigi, shulk, meta knight, rosalina, Ike, toon link and mega man. That's a few of the rare ones for each wave.
Rather: we don't want to overproduce, so that we won't have to give half of them away for a few bucks. *cough* Ubisoft "Limited" editions *cough*
.
I said it in the other thread, and I'll say it here:
Welcome to figure collecting. That's how it has been and how it always will be.
a year ago, if you told gaf "nintendo will release a wii fit trainer toy and demand will drastically outstrip supply," many people would have said that it was impossible

You're too slownever saw a village or marth on a shelf to begin with.

Can't say I care about amiibos. This actually makes me happy since chances are amiibos will not have any big/meaningful function in future games. I hope.
Well WFT has tits...I was holding a WFT amiibo in hand the other day, and thought about buying, knowing the situation, but I just can't bring myself to buy one. It looks cool, but I just don't care about the character beyond its novelty in Smash. At least my other nine amiibo each represent a character I really love.
What are you basing the list ordering on?
You guys need to choose 3 random characters or room for wave 2. you cant have your cake and eat it too. If those three characters are limited supply why would they restock it when they have 30+ characters to release. I expect the rest of wave 1 to slowly be phased out as well except for the obvious ones the article mentions. I swear some of you claim nintendo makes no sense but you don't try to make any sense of your own.
Well WFT has tits...
When does the 2nd wave officially release in the USA?
Again, Marth and WFT seemed to be undesirable going into the launch of amiibo. They are ugly and not really fan favorites (I'm guessing Nintendo looked at pre orders). It's not until after they became rare that they became desirableWTF is wrong with Nintendo. Why do they deliberately stop the supply of shit that sells well?
Yeah, that's more blatant than when I describe the best game ever and ask, "Well guys, how would it be?"You're asking for an avatar quote so blatantly I don't think I can give that to you. :'(
Seems like people are buying them.
I'm not playing the "buy it on day one or you'll never, ever be able to find it" game. If Nintendo can't guarantee that I have at least a few months from the launch of each figure line to find and buy every figure I want, then I'm not going to bother.
If Nintendo is unable to sell some of the less popular characters to retailers, they need to start offering their customers the option to purchase Amiibo figures from them directly.
Yeah, that's more blatant than when I describe the best game ever and ask, "Well guys, how would it be?"
Actually, the WFT amiibo is pretty legit. Very nicely sculpted.Again, Marth and WFT seemed to be undesirable going into the launch of amiibo. They are ugly and not really fan favorites (I'm guessing Nintendo looked at pre orders). It's not until after they became rare that they became desirable
Ha, true.Sometimes it can happen by legit accident, though. The other day when I was talking about Pushmo World in the Capt. Toad thread I didn't see it coming.
You guys are a bit loopy if you think that they will lock the digital content behind only certain waves.
When the next Star Fox game comes out, if Wave 1 Star Fox is discontinued, they'll release a new Star Fox Amiibo with a different pose. This is smart. It lets the people who like Star Fox to get now two different versions, it makes them limited and collectable (oh, you have that first wave Star Fox, cool!), and it sells to those who simply weren't into Amiibos when the first Star Fox Amiibo came out.
This is how figure collecting is, guys. You miss the release window, they're gone. Your character will get another release. It might not be the same pose, or the same outfit, or whatever, but it will get another release, so if you like the one that's out now, buy buy buy.
I think Amiibos are ugly, cheap, and pointless, but this is honestly a great strategy from Nintendo. I mean, look over in the FigureGAF thread. We have people who bought them SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WERE BECOMING RARE. They were trash talking them earlier, and now, boom, sold. Damn, Nintendo, you smart.
Villager uses the old design. If they need an Amiibo out for the next Animal Crossing they'll likely release a new one that is closer to the current taller design of villagers, or maybe even an animal character like Isabelle. Now that they are selling out of course they will restock at some point, someone like Villager will def work with a new AC game so he will be back.
They been up for preorder for months, like has been said, Nintendo wasnt gonna over stock the market and then they end up bombing and people dont buy them.
Now that they are selling out of course they will restock at some point, someone like Villager will def work with a new AC game so he will be back.
Unless Iwata or Reggie came out and said there will never be anymore of those no reason to panic, email statements from Nintendo means nothing 90% of the time.
a year ago, if you told gaf "nintendo will release a wii fit trainer toy and demand will drastically outstrip supply," many people would have said that it was impossible, and no one would want her. It's a fighting game character taken from a casual exercise game. They probably expected the figures to go to compulsive collectors and little kids. If we had to pick one figure to be really unpopular with the little kids, it's this one.
Therefore, I find it really hard to blame them for expecting her to be unpopular, at least. I feel somewhat the same about Villager.
Now, Marth, he's a character like fox and captain falcon: currently known more as a smash staple than for his actual games. I'm a little surprised he wasn't more common. I guess they expected the popular ones to be defined entirely by what little kids would buy rather than any element of long-time smash players.
