Looks good but I do t think it deserves to be called Street a Fighter 5, from these early videos looks very similar to SF4. This has to be a first for the SF franchise when a game that changes the numerical number in the title where the art direction doesn't look drastically different from the pervious title. SF1 to SF2 in the past has looked the most similar I guess but from SF2 to the Zero series, then from the Zero to SF3 and finally SF3 to SF4 all had a drastically differnt look and new fighting mechanics/engine but SF5 looks very similar to SF4, basically this looks like SF4.5
I just feel SF should have gone away for a while longer before bring SF5 out so soon but what else would Capcom do as they appear to be doing fuck all else really......how did one of the biggest gaming companys from the 8, 16 and 32 bit generation come to be what they are today and Konami isn't much better
Charlie is a nice surprise. They need to bring similar characters to replace ones we always have. The next step is to replace Zangief with Hagger and replace Guy with Maki. Replace Ibuki with Geki. Replace Gen with Lee.
I am pretty sure the U.I is a place-holder along with many things.

You want to have many charged characters, many shotos and one true grappler in (haggar). There's no way haggar makes an SF game or Abel for that matter before Zangief, virtually impossible.They can reintroduce Zangief in the Super versions. They should focus on making this game as different for SFIV as much as possible,

This doesn't even make sense honestly. Street fighter 4 and 5 are made by the same team so of course there are going to be similarities. Same with Street fighter 1 and 2 which would explain the similarities as well. Street fighter Alpha, Street Fighter 3, and Street Fighter EX all had completely different teams working on them which explains the extreme graphical differences between each iteration. It isn't fair to bash SF 5 for having similarities to 4 which has the same team working on it to Alpha and 3 which had completely different teams working on it.

Haven't checked video properly yet, but maybe it is happening because it is a Just Defend? I don't think they took any damage in the match when this effect popped, so it leads me to believe Just Defend is included now.
Can't remember exactly, but in SFIII didn't they pull back rather than follow through as well?

Love this list. I'd only add Chun's father and Goutetsu as new characters and a brand new final boss, since all the main numbered versions have it. It looks ok, I hope they don't change up the basics too much. Certain animations and combos looked really wooden and slow.
The noodle thing, eh - I get it they want it to be fun - the KO finisher is one thing, but having the bowl stay on her head the entire next round, even as she spins upside down and jumps all around? Nah, that's too much for me.
As for Charlie, all that means is Guile is a dead cert. for DLC (unless they're putting them both in the base game, which is even worse and a wasted character slot).

I was thinking the same thing. Very well done. My stick will be ready.This is the first fighting game I've seen that combines smooth, proper technique for attacks with really powerful, accurate hit reactions. Looks fantastic.

Zangief is a staple of Sf just as ryu and ken. There are many zangief fans and players. I understand it's the list that you want but surely there's nothing wrong with having several grapplers in the game. Ultra has hawk, hugo and hakan to complement zangief, I'm not sure that all of them will make sf5 so they can bring in some fresh blood in haggar, but to think that haggar will be a zangief replacement, it's just not happening. Personally, if they have zangief, r.mika and haggar as the 3 grapplers in Sf5, I'd be jelly.Having many shotos is nothing new and I would not consider Sagat as a shoto even though he has a uppercut. Finally one true grappler is nothing new. Also Alex and Abel being semi grapplers is good enough while Hagger becomes the one true grappler. And there are not that many charge characters. And not having Zangief isn't a big deal, he wasn't in SF3 series, TvC or MvC3. Besides Hagger is similar enough just like Charlie is similar enough to Guile in the Alpha series.

Is there anything else special about the Revenge metre? If it's just for Super moves, then calling it "Revenge" seems like there's more to it, in my opinion.
I do think there'll be a number of different Isms rather than every character having their own unique version. Can't imagine the amount of work needed to go into making something for every character and then figuring out how to balance it all.
The noodle bowl is a novel idea, but yeah, that needs to fall off eventually. Even Jin's hoodie came off in Tekken 4.
Interesting to see Ryu's normal fireballs being multihit. Really interested to know whether that's now standard (leveled up for story purposes?), or some gem type of boost (nuu!)
Finally, I do hope they add a Turbo mode just for a little bit of fun.
