Yeah, the original designs were eye-catching and unique---to be fair, I thought the 02 designs of the original kids looked pretty dorky, but I guess being older did that. I really hope this is just an element of being a teaser, and in the show they get updated versions of their casual wardrobes.
I'm assuming the show is doing the same real-world to digi-world back and forth that 02 had, and that is just their real-world gear. I expect cool Digi-world attire, hopefully similar to their Adventure attires.

Also only reason I think that is because it is in the same "universe" as 02.

They are in the real for like the first 15 episodes of Savers, then they all go to the Digital world for the next bunch of episodes of Savers, then they all come back because the big bad enters the real world and the rest of the show takes place in the real world.
So pretty much exactly like Tamers.

Also, yeah, but they can do something to trap them in the digital world. the problem with 02 is that it removed all sense of REAL danger, and survival, so if they're trapped it can work.

I think the biggest problem with Frontier (besides the unfair power levels at the end, the obvious and creepy sexist treatment of Zoe, and the Royal Knight fuckery), was that while the Digital World was a fun place, the lack of any real world segment beyond like three episodes sort of removed a part of the show, the human element, fans like.

As a kid, I never realized how much more fluid the episode where Tai returned to the real world looked compared to the rest of the series which, to be generous, is like a flipbook at times.

Now that looks like the Digimon we all grew up with and loved. Not whatever this "artist" they've hired interprets it as. I don't understand why they decided to change something which they're creating for their long time fans, we're older but that doesn't mean the art style had to change.

He didn't translate every text we know of, basically the main interview.
I'm trusting this translation more than I trust automated ones for obvious reasons. He says that he's fairly confident with the translation and revised several times before publishing it. He warns that some Kanji were difficult to read so there might be a mistake here and there.
I'll take the time to translate it into English, but this doesn't make it the best translation we could get from the Japanese.
Some sentences in Spanish don't make grammatical sense to me. Inevitably, I may be getting a step or two away from the original Japanese to get some meaning out of those peculiarities. I'll do my best at interpreting what's there.
You do get a much better sense of Arai's answers and I think that's what most people care about.

We asked several questions to producer Shuhei Arai about what he has in mind and to comment on what's been announced up to this point.
The title of this new work is Digimon Adventure Tri. What meaning does this have?
"Tri" is a reference to the number "3". But who knows, maybe in the script ("text" in Spanish) the "3" can be a key word? You could say that's what it means. Of course it's also a reference to the fact that it's the third entry. Without a doubt, people will have to pay attention to the many 3's that are in the script.
Please give us some details about this new work that takes place 15 years after the first generation of Digimon Adventure.
We thought of a reunion after 15 years had passed, and we're working on something fully aware that years have come and gone for everyone (the public). I think the story, how it presents itself as an anime, is turning into something geared more towards adults. I want the people who enjoyed the old days of Digimon Adventure, and, of course, the people who today enjoy Digimon Adventure, to watch and enjoy Digimon Adventure (Tri?) in the same way. At the same time, I want the people who did not watch the original back then to enjoy this new release, get to know the original season for the first time and enjoy all it has to offer.
We would like to know something more about the main image we have from this new season...
We wanted something that said "a reunion of the kids and their partner Digimon" and "the meeting again of the characters from that season and the fans". I wanted the sentence on the official website, "We will meet again", to have this same meaning behind it.
As for the image. There's a shot in the opening of Digimon Adventure where you see the kids being sucked into the Digital World, and they seem to be falling into a very deep place. From this we thought, "What would we see if the kids looked a little older and if we drew them in this same scene?"
Now please let us talk about the staff that's been announced for this season.
For this new season the priority was character design. We find ourselves in a new era, and the design should be welcomed by a wide range of age groups, and, of course, you should keep what worked from the old times. The one who made this difficult balance possible was the current character designer Uki Atsuya. I think it's a design that gives us abundant expression when made to move through animation but always sticks to simple contours. Additionally, Motonaga Keitarou was the person chosen to direct.
I have given this new season to people who have a lot of quality work behind them already so that we could have a strong production, design good battle scenes, among other things, no matter who got involved.
Series Composition is the charge of Kakihara Yuko, who teams up with Motonaga, the director.

The new series wouldn't be called Tri if 02 wasn't canon.

To be honest, I am disappointed. I understand that 02 was the most popular season, and they are trying to build on the that, but no. No. Please no. If 02 is a 6/10 without the epilogue; its a 4/10 with the epilogue. It was that bad and left a sour taste.
I think he is talking about everybody getting Digimons like some of the folks here suggested. It sucks if true.
Also, I hope by going "adult", they mean to tackle serious topics like death and sacrifice. I sincerely hope he is not talking about love triangles.
