Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

Easy, don't use Ground Pound.

I don't use it often but you know I'd like the option to haha so default it is.
Actually I've realized while playing a few games that if I try to use things like sprint, ground pound and charge too often, all it does is get me killed. Using that stuff is usually a bad idea unless a specific situation presents itself.

The more I realigned my playstyle to be closer to classic Halo, the better I did. Once I started slowing myself down, thinking more, taking more time to line up shots, I started doing really well. I even had to start thinking about reload timing, and switching weapons based on situation. No longer is Halo "Acquire BR, no other weapons exist." Though of course the BR is still good. It's feeling a lot more skill based.
I dont even sprint anymore, I just powerwalk around and I do better than the guys who are running. It's interesting.

I think the SMG needs some sort of change, though. It's like a hyper AR right now.

Side note: I cant see SHIT in Midship. Xbone crushed blacks + hazy lights and weird geometry = my eyes cant even understand what shapes are entering my pupils.

I don't really understand why I need to shake like a jelly when someone is shooting to me with that already overpowered AR.
Also granade spam is strong in this one.Reminds me Halo Reach beta.Where is skill in this?
For now I have mixed feelings.Magnum is awesome though.

Finally got ranked into gold t2 :/
Not terrible I guess but those early games screwed me over hard.
Anyway, does anybody need a player?

Assault rifle and SMG need to be nerfed.
I don't mind the AR as much as the ridiculousness of SMG. It feels like it should be toned down very slightly.

I play the same way. I hardly ever sprint, unless I have the Prophet's Bane. I run circles around Truth with that thing. But, you don't have to sprint in this game. I play it a lot like H2 and H3 and I've been wrecking kids. Feels like a Halo game. A damn good one at that.

Say what? AR is a beast.

Beast my ass. It's garbage.

Worse still I can't see the other weapons lying on the ground, and only realize them when a tiny notification pops up that I then have to backtrack over to see what the weapon is.

Not a fan of Halo multiplayer no matter how much I try.

matchmaking seems to hardly work after a match, you are best doing a fresh search every time you finish a round.

If the entire rating system was only based in your first 10 games I could understand, just keep playing :)

Gave me gold 1, who knows where it will be in 10 more matches.

Why??

So Halo can go back to being a single weapon (BR) game?

No fucking way. I really hope 343i keeps automatics as they are.

They need to AT LEAST nerf their range.
Keep the damage the same but you should never be able to kill someone with it almost across map.

Yeah I'm really liking the AR right now. Halo 5 seems to be forcing players to actually switch weapons and take into account distance and other factors. It's really good. I can actually hold my own with an AR and a pistol, holy shit. Pop a guy with my pistol and if he gets too close or I have to reload, just switch to the AR!

I dont want Halo to keep being "Acquire BR, no other weapons exist."

The SMG, though. I'm on board with that one getting some kind of change.

Holy shit, has anyone else seen this? It has Halo 5 at the end. Still trying to decide if it's true or not. Leaning towards not. So far, this beta doesn't feel like CoD at all, it actually has a few hints of Titanfall in the movement.

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.
I hope they don't do this. This is the first Halo in which either of those weapons is actually useful.

They are to the point of ridiculousness with how powerful they are currently. SMG especially. They can still be powerful, just not by this much.

this x1 million, no contrast slider in game I can find, and I am not calibrating my TV just for halo when its already perfect for everything else.

I'm absolutely with you here.

The SMG, though. I'm on board with that one getting some kind of change.

And I have a feeling I am here too, based on secondhand reports/footage. Maybe a more shallow magazine, since it would encourage group play more (paired players with something like that are appropriately brutal).

I picked up an SMG with what looked like half a clip and killed a fully shielded enemy with ammo left over. It needs a damage nerf, straight up. AR I'd be fine with just a range nerf.

What? If it was anymore powerful it would be ridiculous. It's on the verge of being too OP.

I agree about the lack of indicator though.

I've been using Bumper Jumper since Halo 3. Now I am leaning a bit towards Default controls because of the aiming.

I can't decide...

Not bitter, just unsweetened
seems like backing out to menu during intermission and re-searching almost always leads to a matchmaking server failure (party of 2)

Also for the love of god change the BR spawn location at Red spawn on Empire, it lies on the backside of a stair, you have to walk into R spawn to notice it, can't they just put it on the ground?

Disagree, these maps are relatively small, thus avoiding a close combat firefight is tough, but not impossible with the thruster, and you can put some distance with the BR, let's see how well the AR and SMG perform on grand scale maps.
