Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

And man, just leaving matchmaking after a game takes forever... These guys need to optimise this shit so that leaving mm searching etc is much faster cause if it stays like this i guarantee you that i aint touching this game at launch.

I'm typically a good Halo player but I suck with the BR and the DMR.... I Have my sensitivity to 3 right now. Any of the pros recommend me increase it and get more familiar with a higher number? Or would you guys say that this is personal preference?

God damn!

I always use 7 in Halo, and that's low compared to some. You should start moving it up little by little.

I can't even imagine how slow that must be, being able to react quickly to shots from the side or back is key.

Having the turning radius of a limousine screws that

to each their own. I think I'm 3 or 4. I don't like spinning in circles getting my bearings. It's a thumbstick after all, not a mouse - not super accurate.

Remember that it doesn't just change your turn speed - faster makes your reticle less stable.

I'm not sure why everyone feels different about the look sensitivity in Halo 5. I think its slow as molasses. I used to be a 5 and now 7 is a must if I want to be able to line up shots or turn around.

Unless by 'stable' you mean, more sensitive to thumb movements, to which i say: That's the point.

That you playing? If so, good shit.

I do pretty decent using 3...maybe I'm just very used to it for this Beta. Either way, since this is a beta, it's a perfect opportunity to try out a faster sensitivity to try and improve my game.

Yeah, that's my sites YT account.

It was actually COD that got me to up my sensitivity in all console shooters, that game damn near demands high sensitivity. when I went back to H3 (this was years ago) it felt so incredibly slow, so I bumped it up and noticed I was doing much better.

I used to have a hilarious vid of me literally running circles around a dude in H3 FFA and then assassinating him.

I can't BR at higher sensitivities. It seems that when I aim with the right thumb stick, it's all-or-nothing movements to track the opponent with my reticle. As a result, I usually play on lower sensitivities so I don't over correct one way and he other.
How do you people who play on 7 aim? Do you not push the thumb stick all the way to the edge, or do you just flick it or something? Sorry if this makes you overly self-aware of your muscle movements when you're playing now lol

It comes down to know how far your reticle moves with how much you push the stick. So, yes, you usually don't push the stick all the way to the edge unless you want to do quick spins to check your back. I never actually flick the stick unless I am doing a sweep snipe (either with the Snipe or a quick one-shot with the BR).

Yes, and sticks are not accurate enough to maintain a stable enough reticle for most normal people under fire, at that speed.

I have to disagree, it's lighter touches for faster accuracy and response times.

The Xbone sticks are perfectly set up to handle and register the slightest movements and interpret them correctly. Kinda like a high DPI mouse.

You get a sense for how much pressure is needed for the right amount of movement. You should never be hitting the edge of your movement zone unless you're doing a 180.

Light touches, high precision, faster aim and target acquisition.

Maybe I'm just not twitchy enough. To me, lower sensitivity = greater precision because you have more fine control of your reticle, but it is definitely more limiting when somebody is maneuvering around me in close quarters. Since H5 doesn't slow the reticle when it's near an opponent like previous Halo games, I feel like I need lower sensitivity to get that precision back, but I tend to get beaten in CQB brawls.

Disagree. I thought they were at first at launch but they have a huge dead zone where it doesn't even move once you start pushing the stick.

Plus in the heat of battle it's really hard to keep on target with speeds that fast.

I'm not sure what to say, I don't have an issue with this at all.

The shitty reductionist thing to say would be 'git gud'. But I can understand that some people do much better at lower sensitivity than higher.

What I can guarantee is that the higher settings allow me to kill a significant amount of people at close quarters that are using lower. Combined with the boost H5 has allowed me to murder dudes with swords at close range, something that wasn't easy to do before.

Btw anyone else notice the energy sword on Eden is different to the one on Truth?
I wonder if it handles differently

Maybe my thumbs aren't as twitch as yours. I have some joint issues.

But I don't have a problem with "getting gud"

I try not to get close to people so it doesn't really make a lot of difference for CQ since that's not my style. Mid range all the way.

I think it's hard to love Regret because Truth is so much more familiar. The routes on Truth just feel natural and right because we've been playing them for years, while Regret is new, different, and scary. I think I just need more time with it to learn the flow.
Easy to love Eden though because Empire was new anyway.
