A lot of you guys are really being ridiculous. Criticizing technical problems for a beta almost one year in advance of the game launch. This isn't even a beta. This isn't even an alpha. There is so much time left to fix the issues.
You'd be right to be annoyed or concerned if this was 2 months before launch, but it's not. They needed to call it a beta because that's what everyone calls them. They needed it up and running within a month of MCC launch. This is just to give you a taste of what Halo 5 "arena multiplayer" version is like. To get some feedback regarding how maps are being used, where people are dying, what weapons are being used, how often, what abilities, to get bugs/glitches early, to target potential problems etc.
Having the beta so early before launch is unprecedented for consoles. The only one I can even remember was Gears 3, which was largely done but Epic/MS delayed launch of the game, with the beta then taking the initial launch spot which was delayed by a couple of months. We're 11 months out still here.
