I just finished a game after update and got +83 to push me into onyx, is that normal? I think I usually get something like +13.

Known error with the scoring display; you only actually went up +13 (or so), but because it pushed you into the next tier the count got messed up.

the jumps between ranks are always (?) larger like that

Does not make it right. Sprint is absolutely terrible and not meant for Halo. Near everyone is sprinting all the damn time on the maps until you meet opposition. It's horrible for play and certainly does not make the game more fun or improve it, so I have no idea why it is even in besides trying to be like Call of Duty.

There is an update for the beta.

I have played 20 hours of the beta and I don't think I have seen this one match. People use the sprint function but it's usually to get to a certain area or to try to run away when they are about to die. If they run away when they are about to die, because of the shields not regenerating and the fact that you hitting them stops sprint, it's no one's fault but the players that they did not get the kill.

You make it sound like people are just sprinting in circles around the map constantly until they encounter a player. Seriously, of the 150+ matches I've played that's never how it goes down.

Have 343 stated why the hell matchmaking almost constantly kicks people as they load into the match made lobby before a game? It happens what feels like 80% of the time that it will show eight people, then flash to load people into the lobby (I guess?) and players have their microphone symbol load, and then at least one person will have no microphone (which I assume is them failing to connect for some reason) and then it sits searching for the number of players that got dropped. What compounds this pain in the ass is the inability to back out of the search in progress at that point, so your only choice is to either wait for more players or quit the game and relaunch to repeat the same thing again :(

Probably because it's a beta and this and MCC are 343i's first experiments with Azure for dedicated server matchmaking. But yeah, it can be wonky and frustrating

I get that it is a beta, but it should function more than 80% of the time. The Titanfall beta, which was Respawns first time with Azure, worked leagues better than this steaming pile. All of the issues I listed are just while playing alone, if I try to play with other people it is compounded further. And the fact that my brother and I that are on the same network on different X1's can't play together, he gets dropped from the game 99% of the time as it loads. The beta should be more functional than this.

The Titanfall beta came out... what, a month before the game launched? It was a demo and a stress test. This is an actual beta. The game isn't coming out for more than 10 months!

Halo 4 in MCC looks better than the monstrosity that is halo 5 visuals.

Harder to see Spartans, goes from fucking blindingly bright or muddy dark one second to the next. I know they feel the need to look "next gen" but it just doesn't work. Tone down the fake irritating lighting at least in MP please.

Oh and the energy sword (or whatever they call it now)--I don't think anyone will disagree on me there. Cant see shit

Halo 4 looks clean as fuck compared to halo 5.

Oh and the gangsta shit at the start and end of matches just feels like they're trying too hard to be 'cool', so bad it's hilarious. But that's just an opinion I'm sure there'll be some who don't mind it.

There's 2 swords. The Prophets Bane which has buffs and then the typical energy sword. The Prophets Bane is fucking blinding.

Hopefully they do put some work into making blues easier to see. I'm guessing it's from the crushed blacks from running at 720p and the Xbox One scaling it. Hopefully they can make it right. We got a ways to go so it'll be interesting to see how the game progresses over the next 10 months.

I honestly think people are making a big deal out of nothing. It's just a couple of Spartans being arrogant after they managed to beat another team. That just seems to go with how most teams are. If/When it gets removed, I am not going to be unhappy, because it's a non-issue. It just seems silly to put it as a reason to not like the beta.

I'm probably going to play some more tomorrow, but it seems like having a ranking system can really help. It's not exactly fair if two people can beat four when they aren't even communicating.

Naw, I'm sure these are the final graphics. Probably just going to send the engine team home for the next 10 months, I doubt you'll see any sort of improvement.

They should look over Halo 3 a bit.
It didn't have the most detailed textures, but things were usually rather clear and bright. I liked the image quality and I don't recall much in the way of shitty nexgen effects/processing.
 
Foundation is already solid graphic wise. 900p/1080p and AA will do wonders for this game.
And please remove X as the skip killcam button. Or remove killcams altogether, either will do.

I know you're trying to be funny, but like I said its largely it part due to the design decisions rather than overlooked bugs/issues. You seem very confident theyll make the changes :-/

Well... they've said as much. So, yeah, fairly confident.

Plus, honestly? This whole "why does it seem so unpolished" stuff is kind of grating. Not trying to single you out or anything, there's been a lot of it floating around, and it baffles me every time.

however my gripe is that they need to remove hitmarkers or slash nade throwing distance. The CoD round starting nade rain is really annoying.

Wait, I thought that powerful Grenades were more of a Halo thing. Hell, one of CE's biggest distinguishing features was the micro-nukes they tried to pass off as frag grenades.

I like the idea of nerfing the throw distance much better than the nerf damage suggestions. I've seen a couple teams use a strategy on Crossfire where one player just camps on the grenade spawn and spams grenades, which turns the round into a one-sided game of Battleship. Not to mention getting killed by a long-range grenade when you had no opportunity to fight back isn't much fun for either party. No thrill in it, just good and bad luck.

power isn't really an issue, just distance and they feel a tad floaty (and the weird post bounce timer, feels a bit different than in the past)

but hitmarkers should really be disabled for nades, makes nade checking too easy and ruins a lot of ambush set ups.
