Log Horizon s2 13

Much better than anticipated. Even the stupid competition was tied into the overall flavour text shennanigans. Good to see the rest of the crews working on their own side projects, and that the monsters are smart enough not to harass an Adventurer cluster. Also I don't remember what Foxlady's deal is but I anticipate finding out.

I'm fucking hype for next week though. Time to see what Log Horizon China is all about!

Hm... Rudy acting suspicious in town was addressed at all. I didn't think about that until after I had finished the episode.

Im glad the characters kept their Raid gear on, hate in certain things when characters get an upgrade or whatever but then go back to their regular stuff
until they need it again.(especially wouldn't make sense in an MMO outside of cosmetic only stuff.)

Edit: and now that I bring it up I can't recall any specific example. Ugh.

Misread. The shame! disregard this post.

Does the change in animation studio still bother people? I had gotten past it, but then put an older S1 episode on for background noise, and whenever I'd look I'm reminded how much better season 1 looked =/

Honestly, it's the environment that looks better (mostly Akihabara) and more polished in S1 that really stands out. Now that you mention it, Lenessia too is pretty noticeable. xD

Hmm, I ended up checking Wikipedia to make sure there wasn't an episode today and they had the titles to the next 4 episodes up.
Looks like
after just 1 episode of Kanami (Volume 9), they're doing Volume 8 unless they're just going to be shown concurrently like the studio did for the raid/Akiba stuff.

Ah AH

I totally forgot this thread existed ...

And that is a blessing in disguise since i wouldn't be able to participate in the discussions since i'm up to date with the books .

But that curse is over, since we are dangerously close to the books now , so i can speculate with you all !!!

Reading all those pages full of impressions was fun :)

Has he said how many books there will be?

I hope this isn't some 20 year long thing...

Log Horizon Season 2, Episode 14:

Well, it is a new year and it is time for some new perspectives, indeed the focus is on the former leader of the Debauchery Tea Party and professional Tifa impersonator Kanami. On that note, we either need to keep the author away from his action figures and video games or encourage it because at some point Link and Optimus Prime are showing up. Anyway, this is presented via the framing device of two the upper echelon of the great enemy Plant Hwyaden as we gain some insight into their capital, the shining jewel of the West called Minami. Indeed Akihabara is not the only city on the forefront of technological innovations as they have created a train system and they seem to ready to use it to go to war with our heroes. Indeed it clearer now the never that this Inictis lady is the true power of this guild and indeed this area and Nureha is being used as a figurehead for reasons unknown.

Anyway, the meat of our story seems Kanami and her companions traveling across China in order to reach the Japan server and thank you Log Horizon for have a reason other than ethnocentricity for this kind of focus. Indeed, we just got an information bomb and I don't many will realize it, indeed this is one of the biggest pieces of information yet dropped as we learn the Novasphere Explorers expansion pack went live in Japan first because of the time zones. It is a detail that I do appreciate even though it doesn't stand up to scrutiny because the first place it would have gone live is New Zealand . We also get some insight into what was a fairly minor plot detail in season one but is now looking like it is something of much bigger importance as stand-in for of all things the blond chick from the Everquest covers Elias Hackblade reveals that he is a Legendary Hero of the game and others of his kind have been vanishing including those Izumo Knights, very curious, very curious indeed.

Let me see, Leonardo is probably going to have to have a few details more changed before anybody is going to believe that he isn't a ninja turtle and like his namesake he is the most boring of the quartet. Finally, we have Coppellia who in spite of her emotional state of being is actually quite interesting and not just because she is dressing in a elaborate French Maid outfit and refers to Kanmai as her mistress. She is a new type of person that we the audience have not encountered before as she was a Chinese gold farming bot given flesh and form. She not only acts very robotic and has the obvious symbolism in her name but she also remembers her previous from, a crucial detail separates her from Landers, but also in spite of that she has gained wants, needs and desires, she looks for purpose. Finally, I will end this review by saying something extremely controversial, I am glad Studio Deen took over for this season. I know, I know, I know, art degradation and all that, but I don't think I could have handled Satellite's flat and flavorless direction, framing and blocking for this much more action heavy season.

Log Horizon S2 E14

I liked the episode. But next episode we're focusing on the Log Horizon Babies. I just want as much Shiroe as possible. I'll continue to watch but this season is not gonna rank nearly as high enough as the first for me due to its desire to focus on so many other people. Which by itself isn't wrong, expanding side characters and the universe is fantastic. I'm just really thirsty for more Shiroe mindfucking everybody.

I would not be so quick to dismiss the upcoming episode since we do not know how much Shiroe is going to factor into it yet.

Kanami DA BEST Party leader ...

NIthing like kanami to say stuff like : "don't take him and get in the way of my fun !" or to do a raid like event with only 4 people.

It's finally time for more info to appear and it's a #Gamechanger shard made an incredible summary up there so i'm not going to add much ...But now we have an idea of what's going on and it kinda answers the question of the last season : Where did the izumo knights go ?

Admiral Woofington , don't dimiss the next arc .. Just like last season the kid did have their moment to shine and i have no doubt ( HINT HINT ) that some awesome things are still left to be said as everything is getting ready for the pic finale

That is also a good point, even if you do enjoy Season 1 more, the Junior Brigade we still a big part of that season as well. Hell, bigger now that I think about it since they have had very little to do this season.

I don't mind the Log Horizon babies brigade, but I just REALLY REALLY like Shiroe as a protagonist. I mean I guess I wouldn't mind them if they started to become really useful for the clan. Log Horizon only seems to be relevant because Shiroe, Nyanta and Naotsugu are in it.

Also I'd love to watch an arc depicting an adventure of the tea party. I want to see if the gang was actually split up the way they currently are. Seems like Shiroe and Naotsugu were best buds and Nyanta also seemed to like them. And of course there's the harem dude with the fox lady who also seemed to be close in the guild. I wonder if the hierarchy of the 'guild' was clear cut as I'm imagining it with Kanami being the leader and Shiroe being like her primary advisor/second in command. I really want to know what their relationship was outside of her being the extrovert to Shiroe's introvert, seeing how she seems to still care/remember him clearly to this day.

That was almost too much in one episode... it was hard enough to follow that it deserves a re-watch but I definitely enjoyed it.

Oh man this episode

So much action packed fun filled awesomeness that I had to rewatch it.

Also
leonardo and the green ninja suit references we all OBVIOUSLY KNOW AND LOVE!!

Log Horizon S2 - 14

So yeah talk about a massive info dumb here that I wasn't expecting but am surely glad happened. Through a member of a Plant Hwyaden, KR, we gain a lot of insight into what Kanami has been up to, the type of person she is and the group of people she's traveling with. Not surprising that Kanami reminds me of the typical hot-blood protagonist common in super robo shows and her spirit is endearing. The more surprising thing was that she's travelling with the great NPC hero of the game of the game, Elias Hackblade.

Another interesting revelation is the dual-shield wielding cleric member of the party, Coppellia, is in fact not a player either but a Chinese bot farming AI brought to life as well. In her case I had my suspicions based on how she and Kanami met and her very robotic, monotone way of speaking and addressing others. Also just owning to the other's knownledge of MMOs: a Chinese farming bot? HAHAHAHA LOVE IT! I did find it interesting how Leonardo seemed to have a very dismissive regard towards NPCs dying at least until he came to realize half the party was NPCs.

Then there's KR who exhibited a couple interesting pieces of info as well such as his ability to take possession of animals and effectively skipped over the barriers between severs and being able to teleport into said monster to another sever completely and his ability to summon a dragon which I was under the impression was near impossible for a summoner to do. The bosses were also a treat considering their strange abilities and the one's awareness of the situation the world was in despite being what he is.

All and all great episode happy with where this series is going.

Soujirou & Nazuna were part of the the tea party members. heck soujirou is missing Half of his harem ( since they weren't online when the apocalyse happenned ) ( former tea party members i mean , it's crazy this dude could have even more !!!)

Regarding the relevance of other log horizon members , i think that's exactly what this season is trying to do , give them more reason to shine so they can be revelant.( see akatsuki )
Futhermore , given by the anime preview , the adventurer bag is a crucial item hinted since season 1 , so it would be intresting to see another aspect of elder tale that changed since the apocalypse.

It's hard to watch since they put all of volume 9 into this episode.

In comparison, the first 12 episodes were volumes 6 + 7.
Yeah, I'm sad this was condensed so much, it was what I was looking forward to the most.
I think Kanami and KR both were supposed to show off their Overskills/Teachings in this novel volume, too?

Mostly, it just makes me wonder whats happening for the rest of the season.
There are around 10 episodes left.
This episode was Volume 9.
Next episode starts Volume 8 and I don't think it can be stretched out for the rest of the season.

Something in the show that I feel could be done better is to emphasize Shiroe's villain in glasses fame. Like it feels that people (aka random people in the city) hate him for some really silly propaganda reasons. What's the reasoning again for nobody really knowing his true nature?

14

Alright episode with a story more interesting than what we had before.

Fortunately next episode looks pretty awesome. Tohya squad has been getting such little screentime this season that its made many episodes hard to be interesting.

Next arc is probably gonna last 5 episodes at max. We're probably gonna get
volume 10 material for the final stretch.
That's the only way that everything in this season can arrive at a satisfying conclusion for everyone involved.

Rumours , because few people knew how the round table trully formed and nobody outside those who know are aware of shiroe involvement, also jealousy.
Shiroe doesn't care since the rumours are about him , not akihabara .. since he has a place he can call home and people with him he can trust.
Add to that the fact that being in that position actually allow him to get some info faster...

So unless there is a need for him to become a scapegoat , that won't likely change

S2 E14

I was a bit blown away by this one episode by some of the reveals and info we got here.
A Chinese bot? A high-level NPC part of the protectors of the world of Elder Tale who hasn't been lost? Regular enemies controlling raid-tier boss monsters and gaining their own special abilities? An American TMNT superfan? Whew...

Kanami was nice to finally see in action and gave us a bit on how she seems to be able to bring pretty much anyone together through her personality and force of will. I was also glad to see some additional info on Plant Hwyaden and their plans, though I'm not 100% sure of some of the character motivations, especially for someone like KR, other than it's part of the wishes of Inictis.

Next week looks like we might pull things back a bit with our lower level adventurers, which should be fine as long as it also avoids anything related to the love triangle subplot and feels more like an exploration of the world itself.

Leonardo was awesome and explained the teachings with his one line way better than they tried whenever they first showed it off lol.

Really liked the design and backstory for Coppelia as well.

Episode was good but will make the fact that Kanami and gang will likely never be a main part of the anime a little disappointing.
Though I do hope we eventually get a 3rd season.

Well , Kanami always has been a factor for the actions of shiroe and she remains so influencial that the fact that she is not there is at the core of the conflict that is starting.
Not to mention that she is coming on the japan server ( that was confirmed in this ep ) and she already moved from the european server to that one .. It's only a matter of when . I mean the focus is clearly Shiroe and log horizon guild but there is nothing that will prevent kanami from being part of the cast should the author wishes for it.

But i personnaly want a spinn-off starring kanami rather than seeing her being a regular ( too much aura and so on )

Not saying that it wouldn't eventually happen but I don't think the anime will last that long.(doubt we get a 3rd.)

Sadly though this is one anime I would love to watch with 100 episodes or more.
I'd definitely watch a full Kanami spin-off.

im just surprised at how not bad animated frog ninja vs weird girl was.

dude is badass.

And
china farmbot
is brilliant. Something that i'd would have never thought of, but it makes perfect sense as a character in a mmo anime.

Man Ninja Turtle and Tifa are pretty cool. That team was easily more interesting than Log Horizon. Actually was that whole crew a bunch of references?

The mixed bag that is Kanami's team would probably be the main characters in a more typical show - it's a credit to its world building that it's managed to work with a focus on Shiroe and the economics and mechanics of it all so far.
Looking forward to ser how this develops.

Also, having caught up with a couple of other episodes, I wonder if the tech for the artificial hand replacing the girl's that lost hers to the cursed scythe already existed in-game or was developed since the "Apocalypse".
Perhaps a new use of crafter/healer skills, like we've seen for combat abilities?

If they decide to keep this show going they will likely need big filler arcs to continue.
I think Kanami's group would be a good setup for that.
They already have more of her story to be told and being set outside Japan they could do big filler stuff that has no effect on the main story.

i don't think the show is popular enough to warrant keeping it going past a second season. I'm surprised it got a second season to begin with.
