The moment bosses are walking out of their area and even inflicting self injuries to work around mechanics, you know that this is slowly not just a game anymore.

And therefore everyone is cheating =p

Episode 11

Loved this return to battle fight even better. Nice how you can tell there's a clear difference between how they were fighting before and how their fighting now. Partly by having a well thought out plan, even if the didn't go completely to script, and partly thanks to them changing their perceptions of each other. Think it sorta low they lamed it up with the boss for Shiroe but whatever since the boss was clearly 'cheating' as well.

well with the world clearly not a 'game' anymore, it makes sense things might work quite differently.

All these mechanics and skill info dump makes me squee though. mmo animes need more of this stuff.

Are raids in MMO's this ridiculous?

You haven't defeated one boss when two more appear, and then you finally reach the goal and it's like "naaaaaaaah one more boss" without a moment's breath?

This show is so fucking incredible.

I feel like I'm watching Planetes again for the first time.

Settle down buddy. Log Horizon is the best representation of an MMO adventure on film but it's still inferior in general to a lot of tv shows. Planetes is firmly above its league.

The longest monologue in the history of anime but...there's a big part of William in me. I moved on from that life but sometimes I kinda miss it. Can't wait for next episode.

Someone hasn't watched Hunter Hunter Chimera arc yet.

There were multiple monologues that were John Galt worthy.

There's a few raids in FFXIV: ARR that aren't unlike this one. However there is breathing room inbetween them.

I don't really understand why you would need to engage the bosses if you could just run past them like Demikas and Shiroe just did.

If you want them piling into the final boss room while Shiroe is negotiating, I guess they don't have to engage the bosses.

There's several event in MMORPG that have this kind of scenario. Multiple boss level appear in single arena. And at the very least, at least the time needed to kill boss in Log Horizon is not that long, when compared to 18 hours boss fight in Final Fantasy XI

they were assuming the zone was locked because thats how mmos work. Except it ain't really a game no more!

As a glasses wearer, I 1000% approve of this anime.

Only in Anime all the glass-wearers have perfect eyesight (not specific to this show or anything - although they do rub it into your face more than usual).

So I realize I'm late to the party - but if I'm struggling to see what's good about this by episode 7 should I just give up? I've enjoyed some slap-stick anime shows in the past, but the humor was at least somewhat intelligent in those.

its not really a humor anime lol. if thats what you are coming here for... probably not gonna enjoy it.

It's more for people that enjoyed mmo's in their past, or currently, or even rpgs in general, with some politics and other bits.

The humor and pseudo love stuff is pretty bad.

Not typically. This is kind of similar to a single encounter dealing with multiple bosses at the same time.

all right. Just seemed a bit mean-spirited is all haha.

Man, that scene with Demikas and the Lander was ace. Kinda throws into relief just how fucking shit as a human being he must feel. Pity his default reaction is rage. Maybe he'll get better.

I just wish the animation was better, honestly... so easy to see where they cheaped out. Oh well. It still looks pretty servicable, and the plot/writing is still fun, so whatever.

Can't wait to see what Shiroe is gonna do with all that gold (asuming he can defeat/negotiate clanface). Besides unbalance the world economy.

Fuck I can't wait to find out what's going on in the rest of the world though. I mean, this is just the Japan server. What's going on elsewhere? Give me the Journey to the East story arc already! I know it's coming!

Log Horizon Season 2, Episode 12
I am not exactly sure what happened there but as close as I can figure things Shiroe basically used the giant pool of the gold to buy up all the land and close the very concept of ownership zones or something to that effect. Basically it ends the strain on the operating budget. secures the homeland from the tactics of the enemy and will allow for The People of the Land to actually own land. The Silver Swords gets to have their moment of eternal glory and we finally get confirmation that Tetra is a guy currently trapped in a female body. Indeed, we have reached the end of this arc, and it was good, better then the Akasuki one to be sure. Though I am glad it has reached its end as the dark cloud of the south is fully unfurled and we get to meet the brain trust of Plant Hwyaden. On the other hand, not really looking forward to the Valentine's Day episode.

I'm still not 100% on Shiroe's plan and how awful it could actually be if someone who actually had evil intention could use it. I'm not saying its bad per say, just easily corrupted. Otherwise great episode, pretty much just Shiroe talking about how everyone has changed and grown over the raid. Tetra is revealed to actually have been a male in the real world, noted her response to Shiroe's question about Nao was slightly different than what I heard the novel one was. Scene with Demi and his wife was pretty cute as well wish I could have seen more of those two together. Next episode seems to be setting up to push the characters closer together so we'll see how that works out. I'm sad the raid is over but next episode should be a good tension release.

I guess I'm weird in that I enjoy the dynamic of the group out of dungeons and doing MMO stuff. Don't think it' fair to call it filler.

Solid episode. Love how they play on/exploit the mechanics of the world. Next week looks like a filler/shipping episode.

So glad this arc is over with a pretty good final episode. Most of the other episodes were terrible and pointless but it wrapped up nicely. Im glad for lots of Tohya squad moments. They are so nice, funny, and friendly.

Yeah, no thanks buddy. It hits all the right notes for me and it evokes the same kind of response that I had watching Planetes. I'm perfectly free to make that comparison talking about my feelings watching it.

I'm pretty sure the usual anime-only stuff=filler definition is in effect.
At least I don't remember Valentine's Day in the LN, could just by my memory, though.

Hmm, I do wonder what'll be shown next, though.
I vaguely recall someone saying Volume 9 is going to be shown before 8.
I am a bit more excited by the second half coming up since while there are some summaries for 8 and 9, there are no translations.

That Demikas scene in the opening of this episode had me in stitches. I've come to like the grumpy bastard. And his wife is lovely!

And daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn Shiroe's plan is ballsy as hell. Can't wait for the next move!

His wife? o.O Isn't the girl just a person of the land?

His wife? o.O Isn't the girl just a person of the land?

Yeah, and he married her. They're real people, you know. Just they don't have the superpowers and shit. (Unless they're of high enough level, I guess).

Great episode. Interesting concept from Shiroe - I guess what he's doing basically is locking up land and then 'returning' it (I assume this is either a sub-scribe power or a variation on it similar to the way that other powers are being used in altered ways to create new powers) to the Yamato Server... whatever that is. In essence, he's destroying Inbuilt Game Mechanics because he can tell that they can be abused (in the same way that he abused them to forcibly unify Akihabara - the stick in his carrot-and-stick pantomime to create a city of peace).

Wasn't really on board with the overly cartoony jokes, but hey, it's an arc-ender, whatever. Next episode looks like a Cake-tier write-off but maybe it'll be fun, who knows.

Can't wait to either go Journey to the East or to figure out what this... Southern Guild is all about. I completely forgot about who they were, to be honest.

One thing I wasn't clear on - did Shiroe secure his financing or not?

Huh... I guess I must of missed that part. o.O Didn't realize he got married to her, thought he just met her after he began tearing down his own building.

It was mentioned in the beginning of the arc, episode 2, many episodes before we actually got to see her.

Log Horizon S2 13

I must say this episode turns out to be a whole lot more entertaining than I thought it was going to be. Right when I started I wondered if they had forgotten about Crusty's situations and was glad to see it was addressed even if all if all it was was them wondering what happened to him and curiously enough seeing Misa granted a robotic arm to replace the one she lost when her weapon disappeared with Crusty. Thought it was funny to seee Tetra being helpful towards the girls in their efforts to win Shiroe's favor. Amusing too that others were able to figure out Tetra was boy in the real world as well though she really squashed any ideas of letting that secret get out in the open. But the biggest two things of note happened at the end. Seems the Nazuna isn't as in control of the situation in her city as one might have been lead to believe and based on the preview we finally get to see some happenings in another server and the legendary Kanami that everyone is always referencing.

Log Horizon Season 2, Episode 13:

Okay, I will say this outright, do not skip this episode, not only is it better then the festival episodes but it serves as a bridge to the next arc, well, kind of. Seems like Log Horizon is going to be taking a detour to the larger world next episode. I really do love this series and, well, that is a detailing for the AOTY list.

Log Horizon S2 Ep 13

While not an episode I'd rate high I wasn't bored out of my mind. Rudy continues to be the best Log Horizon member, and the ending is exciting me for future events.

I already have S1 in my AOTY list so hopefully it ranks high enough so people check it out, because this might be the turning point where S2 turns into S1-tier

Looking forward to what happens next!

I enjoyed this episode though. I like all the members of LH and their interaction so was a fun EP.

Episode was pretty funny, at least. Some of the matchups are still kind of creepy because of the age differences though.

Ending was surprisingly dark - that was some serious abuse.

Looks like we will be taking a break from the main cast for a while.
