Keep my PS4 or get a Wii U?

Personally I spent a lot more time with my PS4 than my Wii U but it all depends on what games you like to play really. You can probably trade in your PS4 to get a Wii U and buy back the PS4 at a later time...

Most importantly it's the games that matter...

When did this idea that only Nintendo could put out quality content begin to surface? I mean if you were to listen to half the people in this thread, one could be under the impression that the PS4's never had access to anything worthwhile while every title ever published by Nintendo is automatically catered to everyone. It's complete nonsense lol.

Don't argue forum politics :)

PS4 exclusive line up this year is like none of the other 2. There is enough variety there to fit almost all genres, from small games, to big. If he can't be excited about that or has preference for Nintendo franchises then he should go with his heart.

I've been there. I've moved on from my Nintendo staples, Mario and DK. I'll get the Wii U by the end of its life-cycle when everything is cheap. Unless Nintendo gets a new Contra FPS/TPS as an exclusive or a modern, FPS/TPS Megaman I am not budging.

I've been splitting my time recently between both the PS4 and the WiiU. This year both are going to be essential, for the price of several games you can get a WiiU and enjoy both.

Definitely, I mean if he secretly want's a Wii-U, then sure, why fight? But too many people rush into the assumption that someones had access to the previous gen of consoles, or that they have another machine.

I mean just this gen so far, I've played Sound Shapes, Flower, TLOU remastered, LBP3 (only for a tad though), Killzone Shadows fall, Resogun, Dead Nation (co-op on a friends account), the Destiny Beta, Driveclub on a kiosk (I really need to buy this), Infamous Second Son (playing right now), and a bunch of other multi-plat games.

There's a bunch I'm forgetting I'm sure, but it's a ton of games where if I only had 1 console, there is a metric ton of exclusive content. Saying the PS4's library is somehow "not diverse", is silly.

Keep the PS4, and when you have the money repurchase the Wii U.

Selling your PS4 is a move that will cost you money. You enjoy it, so stick with it. The PS4 isn't going anywhere for the next several years, so you can't just look at the immediate upcoming exclusives to make your decision.
selling any system that's alive and well is a mistake that you'll probably regret.
The Wii U will still be around when you're able to buy one.

These threads are always like backstroking laps in a fecal fountain.
Seriously messes with my zen.
OP, the strongest advice is from those that say save the PS4 and save up the cash for the WiiU.
Otherwise you will regret it.
I have a PS4, a WiiU, a 3DSXL and capable PC.
Anything less is uncivilized.

Seriously though.
Selling will give you the new car smell for a week or so, but regret will kick in quickly.
Not regret for having a WiiU, but regret for not having the options the PS4 also gives you.
Build up the cash, have both.

Playing with that beast of a PC will make you framerate sensitive. You won't be able to tolerate 30 fps games anymore.

Get a Wii U.

So is claiming the Wii U is nothing but Mario and Donkey Kong with no variety in genres.

He's given multiple examples of games on both platforms he's interested in. So the best advice is to tough it out and save up the money for a Wii U.

If that's not possible, then only the TC can answer his own question as to which of the two he'll choose. For everyone else it's a waste of time wallowing in system wars BS.

I have a PS4 and WiiU and like both. Without either one you are missing out.

With that PC I would get a Wii U but you already have a PS4, so if you can sell it without losing money do it, if not just keep it and enjoy it, you can get a Wii U later, the games are not going anywhere.

bubububut....Look at the exclusives for both and decide.

If you re-get a PS4 down the line, you'll still have all your purchases on your account at least, unlike going the other way.

Agreed. You won't see Persona or Disgaea on non-Sony platforms.

Nintendo is really going to have to sell me this summer that its not dumping the Wii U in favor of something else fall of 2016. If that is the case the Wii U with be $175 this time next year.

Edit: If Zelda U gets pushed back to Spring 2016 and becomes a cross gen Nintendo release with a new Console in Fall 2016 this whole debate is for nothing. There has been no evidence that Zelda is ready for this year.

People saying 2015 will be the last year of the Wii U need help.

People saying 2015/2016 will be the last year of the Wii U and you shouldn't buy it have serious credibility problems.

Don't listen to these peoples lies.

I would guess a new Nintendo console comes out 2016, but I don't think the Wii U will just end. I definitely think the Wii U is worth buying, though.

One day OP, you will shake your head looking back at this thread and you will find how blind and biased are some suggestions and how they could have guided you in the wrong direction.

You already have your answer and take it without any remorse, because it's the right one.

So, a lot of people will say get a Wii U because 95% of the PS4 library will be on PC - and that's true. But in reality, there will probably be just as many PS4 exclusives as Wii U exclusives, so you have to weigh which you prefer. Bloodborne, The Order 1886, Uncharted and whatnot versus Bayo 2, Mario Kart 8 and Captain Toad is a debate only really you can settle.

In the end, You can't play other games similar to what Nintendo offers (not often at least), so it makes sense to go with a Wii U. But I wouldn't underestimate what the PS4 will offer not just next year, but for several years after. Sony does offer the most diverse stuff in the industry.

As long as Nintendo supports his own system, it will do fine. Maybe not the best-selling home console of all-time (think it still belongs to the PS2), but will most likely do better than the Gamecube on the long term sales.

this is already impossible unless a huge miracle happens.

It would be insane to sell your ps4 in year 2. It's only going to get better. There are HUGE exclusives coming this year (as you know) and certainly more coming down the pipe as I think year 3-4 will be the consoles peak.

I have a Wii U and it's great, but I wouldn't give up the ps4. Save your money and get one when Zelda comes.

Nintendo will have a new handheld in 2016. And probably a QoL night light or something.

At a guess the handheld will have two screens and be similar power to a Wii U.

Wii U doomed/ cut and a PC in a box coming out made by Nintendo Q3 2016 confirmedd!?!!

No way. It's absurd logic.

I'd recommend to anyone to wait till the Wii U is basically EOL and buy all the AAA games used, the console used and so on after close out prices and enjoy it then.

I can't with a straight face recommend a Wii U unless you are a die hard Nintendo fan. There is literally nothing there in terms of much of anything other than Nintendo games.

To some that's all that matters but it's up to you. If you buy its that's all you're going to get.

Basically no online environment
Zero third party support
Quarterly release schedule rather than monthly

I could go on but everyone pretty much says the same thing; people buy Nintendo consoles for the Nintendo games and with the Wii U that's true in every sense of the word.

...And yet you're buying a bunch of 30 FPS Wii U and 3DS games?

I hope you don't resort to that faulted "sending a message" thing you brought up the last time I noticed your double standard.

How sure are you that some of the WIi U games like Zelda U, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Devil's Third will end up running at 30 fps? You're assuming already because you just want to say something against my preference for 60 fps.

Same goes to the 3DS games. If you haven't noticed yet, Nintendo has managed to come up with brilliant 60 fps games on its the weak handheld. Games like Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Smash 4, Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kid Icarus: Uprising are smooth as silk. I hope this trend continues.

Wii U > 3DS

What.

I mean, I have at least 10 boxed Wii U games, and Pikmin digi due to the free game offer, but seriously?

I love my Wii U - I absolutely love it.

But my 3DS library absolutely DWARFS my Wii U library in volume of quality titles.

I must have 40+ boxed 3DS games... and quite a few digi ones, to boot.

(I have Shovel Knight on both ;) )

Keep your PS4. The PS4's life is just getting started. The WiiU has a handful of good exclusives. But this is probably the last year it will get much support. Buy it in a couple years for cheap

It's such a completely different concept of a game compared to what Nintendo puts out that that is just a ridiculous thing to say.

It's not because of the very reason you just stated. Nintendo will never offer a game like Bloodborne. That's why the PS4 is the better choice.

Hey it's Mr. Double Standard, I was wondering when you'd show up.

Oh yeah, I forgot about PS+. I imagine the insane Humble Bundles and the like are a better deal than $50 for a year of PS+ games, but can a more avid PC gamer give some insight? It might also be something to consider.

With that PC, I think your answer is clear.

If you are interested in Bloodborne, then wait for it IMO, then sell it.

Mind you that this year is probably the last with a lot of quality games releasing on WiiU, Zelda, Xenoblade, Kirby, Yoshi, Party, etc.

PS4 on the other hand, doesn't have a ton of exclusives if you have a PC, but Uncharted looks great and there will probably be a TLOU sequel seeing the success of the first one, and there always is GT.

But a PC with a PS4 seems redundant to me, most this party games release first on PC and pay and look much better, even Japanese developers release games on PC nowadays.

Stop selling, reselling, buying, rebuying consoles.

You are losing money in the long run by going back and forth. Stick to what you have, save a bit more, and buy a second console then.

Otherwise you will be in the same situation once the market shifts again and you want to play a new game you can't find elsewhere.

This. I don't understand people that buy, sell, rebuy, sell... You lose a lot of money & get nothing in return.

If you wanna save money, buy second hand.

Since I have both of them I'll say keep the PS4 and get the Wii U later in a bundle. I'm not a fan of the Wii U and I'm not really buying anything on it but there's some games that deserve to be played on.

It's your call but in my opinion I would keep the PS4 and get the Wii U soon or later.

It depends of the exclusives now, I am a PC + Wii U user and I think a PS4 won't be needed until next year since the only games I care right now are bloodborne and Persona 5 I also have a huge backlog of pc games and there is a first party Nintendo game launching almost every month starting february, so I think I am set for the year

If there is no way of owning both a PS4 & a WiiU, i'd say go for the WiiU. It will complement your PC better, also by having off-tv.

If you can manage to save up the cash without selling the PS4, do that. But i'm someone who doesn't sell anything. Ever. Not even bad games.

I agree, and that's the point people keep glossing over. There is a ton of exclusive content on both machines, great content is not limited to the WiiU.

People keep forgetting that there's so much overlap because there's so many games, not because there aren't exclusives. OP would be giving up a wealth of content, for another wealth of content that will on average cost more money due to Nintendo's stubbornness on pricing.
