How does GAF enjoy their steak?

Right there with you, I like my meat without blood in it still. Also I'd take a nice piece of chicken breast over steak any day.

That's not blood actually. Cattle is drained of all their blood when slaughtered as blood is a vector for infections and bacteria. This is standard for all meat and poultry.

The pinkish appearance is due to a compound call myoglobin.

Well-done is simply irrational as it almost guarantees too dry.

Medium rare should be the standard at most places, but if you're at a really, really quality steakhouse, you should go rare.

I just can't fathom the well done people. How is it possible to like steak less flavorful, tougher, and drier? Or am I missing some magical correct way of cooking a steak well done?

Two steaks I don't like:

1) Rubber steaks that I can chew for an hour and get no closer to breaking down.

2) Raw mushy (blue) steaks that don't have that "cooked" texture.

I prefer my steak as red as possible as long as the muscle fibers in the center have firmed up and attained the cooked texture.

I won't turn down a well-done steak but I might ask for more seasoning and some steak sauce.

Oh no it's the annual steak thread.

Medium rare of course. Sometimes rare.

Any higher and you best be chopping them up into cubes as a topping for something.

The closer to well-done they get, the more seasoning and sauce they will require to compensate for all the chewing and dryness that will accompany it. Salt and pepper + a little bit of butter on a rare/medium-rare steak is all I ever need. Tender, juicy, needs nothing more. With a well-done steak, there better be enough sauce to drown the thing so my mouth will at least take it in.

I assume those who like well-done steak enjoy all their meats cooked to death. Dry, overcooked chicken breast and fish peeve me more than a well-done steak though, tbh.

Well Fucking Done.

I literally can't stand anything less than medium, and that if its the only option.

Like each to their own and stuff, by all means, have a steak how you want, but I just can't get over eating something that is barely cooked 100% through and through.

Dont. Even. Get. Me. Started on blue steak. Urghhhhhhh.

Like I said, an eating disorder. They can't get over the fact they just know the steak isn't thoroughly cooked. They're irrationally scared of non-existent pathogens. They'll sacrifice far superior taste and tenderness so that their irrational thoughts can be placated.

Medium to Medium Rare, on the grill, either hickory smoked or with a red wine jus.

Sometimes l just order medium as some places tend to under cook the meat too much.

Medium rare for me. One side of my family used to cook them to death while the other side just walked a cow past the grill, so I'm accustomed to eating it basically every way it's typically served.

While I do prefer medium rare, I will occasionally get one Pittsburgh rare (AKA Chicago style rare, black and blue, etc.)

Why even cook it then? Just munch away raw.

I like my food cooked. I don't eat my noodles, rice and potatos raw either.

Way I see it, I wouldn't eat any other meat that's undercooked weather it be chicken, pork, lamb, heck even fish. Why is steak any different?

Yeah if I was to eat rare/blue steak, I probably wouldn't die. People eat it and are fine as this thread shows, but I just don't get why someone would think "Im going to not cook this piece of meat all the way through and enjoy eating it", when they would never dream of doing the same for another meat.

If you can change my view then go ahead, I genuinely would love to know what those who eat steaks rare and below see in eating it that way.

I like sushi and some other raw things too though. Fresh oysters~

Chickens must be well cooked, though. But lamb and steak, medium rare is best :D

I'm guessing you never had sushi? Cooking proteins in heat completely isn't the only way to eat them. Raw preparations of protein is something that's been done for ages in various cultures.

I have. Don't like it.

As you all probably guessed, I'm not one for raw food. Hahaha XD

What is it about steak that makes people present the subjective as objective?

Anything between medium and well done for me. Baked and crushed cherry tomatoes and English mustard provides all the moisture I need
