Enjoy steak however you like, but pay for a decent cut of meat and cook it above medium is wasting money. Just eat a cheap. Everything tastes like seasoning above medium, anyway.
Ergh no?

Seal both sides, a few minutes per side on medium flame and then into the oven for a few more minutes until it's well done.

Medium rare is the way to go.

You might as well burn it if you want it well done

As a french guy i can only say that medium rare is the only way to go when you're eating a good quality steak. And for those who don't understand how someone can eat " blood ", well i have good news for you : that red liquid isn't blood.

If you have to burn your meat for " safety " then you're not eating meat, you're eating shit.

Only time when well-cooking your meat is justifiend is when it's minced meat.

This is a topic I am passionate about and the correct answer is medium rare or rare.

You'll find many people are passionate about this. These threads are right up there with tipping and circumcision threads as far as people getting bent out of shape goes.

I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of red meat, but it's really unpleasant to chew raw-ish meat :x So yeah... I'm a hypocrite and I'm okay with raw seafood, though. I have even tried raw chicken.

Med rare on filet, strip, ribeye. If it's a cheap sirloin at a place like Outback, I actually find medium more enjoyable.

Ribeye rubbed down with olive oil, pepper and salt.

2 1/2 minutes on high heat on each side. Remove, stick a pat of butter on and cover with foil for a minute.

Serve.

What the fuck. Isn't that almost a guaranteed way to get all kinds of food poisoning?

Chopped up or cut thin with no pink parts left in it.

Not at all, it's a delicacy in some places. If the meat is fresh and not gown in some gross chicken factory it's prob ok.

Looks like a lot of Medium Rare in the thread. Which I definitely think is the all around best way to go. Only time I go Rare or Bleu is if it's a high quality steak place.

My brother's workplace has been screwed for a week because they thought it would be a good idea to have a company BBQ, and half their workforce came down with food poisoning.

Well, they serve it at that place (a chicken-focused restaurant in Osaka). It was okay, really.

Huh, okay. I've just always been under the impression that raw poultry was one of the most dangerous meats with red meat being pretty safe as long as you sear the outermost portion of it.
