Unfortunately, for many scalpers (or probably almost all of them), this is actually how they make their income. Buy things like this, try to flip them on ebay or craigslist, and then profit from the money on the flip. They can then in turn use that to continue flipping other products or pocket it. And if they don't sell, they simply return them to the stores and get their money back and walk away scott free.

I'm sure there's some that just do it on the side that are just as bad if not worse that do this as a sole means of income.

Yay! Lucario got!

A BIG thanks to Gaf. This was at the San Mateo store. It was the only preorder, and I only got it because someone mentioned going in with the DCPI number and preordering in store. Yup, that worked!


Story time though:

There were about 10 people who came at various points, and the TRU employees kept saying they only had one for preorder, the rest of the Lucario were delayed to 2/13 with Ike, Dedede, etc.

About 5 minutes before opening an older guy came and was lurking around, and then ran into the store before the rest of us. He was clearly a scalper, and went to electronics asking for the "limited amiibo, I don't know which one that is."

The manager came out and asked me (I was first in line) who was second, kicked the line jumper out, and pulled out a second hidden Lucario for the second person in line.

What a day. But at least stores seem to be getting smarter.

Not too stressed over it as I have a pending online order, but has anyone here heard anything about when those might start shipping? Eh I've seen a couple go for over that or close to it but idk either way its ridiculous for comparison my local anime shop has them and sells them for 100$ I know he got them on ebay for 80$~ simply to have them in supply to tell people he has them available while nobody else does...

The NFC chip is the difficultly. But I've seen the figures done already its not supurbly difficult with the right equipment.
Experience: 3 years CAD classes 1 Year with a 3d printer.

It is certainly possible but a huge financial risk to buy high, then sell much higher than the competition (eBay is competition for any retailer). It wouldn't make much sense to do that but then again, people don't have much sense.

I know very little about J&L specifically, when I lived in NYC I did not know of their existence or if they were even around back then.

How was the figure quality? I'm wondering if these go out of print if that may be an option for display purposes and set on a stand from another character. I know virtually nothing about 3D printing, or even if it would be a cost effective alternative.
