Has 343 Industries redeemed themselves with Halo:MCC

oh man. Brutal thread bump lol

MCC might have killed 343, maybe even Halo, maybe even Xbox. Time will tell.

as a hardcore Halo fan, ive traded in Halo MCC and refuse to buy Halo 5 unless its bargain-bin price. ill stick to just reading the books. 343i sent the franchise out to pasture with Halo 4 and Halo MCC.

I still think it's dumb that Microsoft outsourced it's biggest franchise to over 5 different developers and expected the result to be good. You don't outsource your baby.

343 won't be handling it. Don't worry
as much.

343i didn't handle this either apparently, which is why I assume it is so broken. They must have not bothered to actually put that much hands on this game and went full steam ahead on the H5 Beta. That is what you get when you put minimal work into a game and you have like 6 or 7 different studios all put work on a game without keeping that close an eye on it I guess. The game works pretty well for me for a long while but it doesn't work for plenty of people still, and that's unacceptable.

I had better luck playing the Halo 5 beta than the MCC, and I like the changes to the controls. I'll buy Halo 5... but it will be a used copy. You've lost my money, 343/MS.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo:_The_Master_Chief_Collection#Development

The collection was developed by 343 Industries in conjunction with Certain Affinity, Ruffian Games, Saber Interactive and Blur Studio. While 343 Industries designed the interfaces and online networking, Certain Affinity developed the multiplayer and Saber Interactive developed the updated Halo 2 campaign

Well I can thank 343 for introducing me to Titanfall. MCC's sorry state drove me to a MP game that actually works, and I'm having a blast.

I remember when people learned Halo 5 would have ADS and sprint some of them thought of the MCC as a nice parting gift.

But Microsoft was like nah, get fucked.

Reading the first page then the last page of this thread is pretty amusing. My how things can change.

Ok, let's start this by saying Halo 4 wasn't a bad game, it was a bad Halo game. The influences from other games was so apparent and disappointing for a lot of fans. Sprint and perks do not belong in Halo. It was always about fair start, map control weapon control. They basically threw that out of the window and tried to appeal to COD fans and ended up with neither.

As for the SP, the first cutscene in the game was INCREDIBLE. The story just went downhill from there. Didact reveal was really weak and the character as a whole isn't that interesting. Plus, the game lost the open areas which is stamp for the series.

Anyway, I think they learned their lesson and hopefully they fix all that in Halo 5.

Now for Halo:MCC, i don't think anyone believed they would make such a collection. 4 halo games, all MP maps ever released playable online and a remake of Halo 2 for $60. The package is simply incredible and it's the best love letter to fans of the series.

What do you guys think?

Oh, and it's releasing in a little over week. HYPE!

Edit 2 : For people saying "it's just a port". Watch this video(youtube).Xbox video

Edit: forgot the question mark in the title :P

lol... this reads like a Satire thread now.

Ha yeah I did the same thing.
The one classic thing related to the whole MCC debacle for me is that sketchy poster on here name Jleak or something that was hyping this thing up as the greatest remaster of all time and even went so
far as to take huge issue with the metascore being lower than TLOU:R. As soon as the game comes out though he goes MIA.

Shady character.

He is a huge fanboy and is the reason I'll never visit crave online ever again.

Does it really surprise you?

He was the guy who wrote this article
Thief PS4’s Low Framerate is Proof that 1080p isn’t Always the Answer

Have you played all 4 games in Co-Op? I've been playing through Halo 1 with my brother in local co-op off and on for several weeks and the game simply does not save checkpoints if you decide to turn off the system/stop playing the game. We had to complete every mission fully if we wanted to make any progress whatsoever. Ended up having to replay the same mission at least three times, it was infuriating.

Have heard of similar issues with I think 2?

Unless my memory is faulty, prior to H4, co-op has always made you start fresh in each mission for co-op. It was part of why Halo 3 adding "Rally Points" for jumping back in was an improvement at the time.

If I recall correctly, he was banned.

He then tried to sign up using a different account and that was banned too. (Atleast, I think it was him since the mods mentioned that 'he wasn't sneaky enough to cover his tracks')

Oh man really?
I didn't know that, looks like he really was a shill.

At first I thought this was a new thread.. then ohh boy..

Oh damn, OP is a junior now too.

I checked his thread history and 80% promoting the Xbone and Xbone games and 1 Power of the Cloud Thread.

Amazing.

He wasn't even just a random fanboy; he's the gaming editor of Crave Online. He had a good meltdown over one of my posts (where I suggested he was being disingenuous ) a while back:

The funny thing is you don't realize that YOU'RE the fanboy. I own all the consoles and handhelds. All you do is praise the PS4 and hate on anyone who says anything positive about the Xbox One.

Yes, I didn't enjoy inFamous: Second Son, but I fell in love with the FFXIV: A Realm Reborn PS4 version, Resogun, and The Last of Us Remastered.

FFXIV PS4 - 9.0/10
TLOU PS4 - 8.5/10 (TLOU got #2 best game of 2013 from myself and our staff)
Resogun PS4 - 8.0/10

Your absolutely unnecessary hatred is completely off topic in this thread, and fully indicative of how blinded you are by your obsession. The day that you stop with your Sony fanboyism and just enjoy games is the day you'll notice you're a happier person, and one that invests time in things that are productive and healthy.

This is the final time I address you and your constant berating of me.
Shame he's banned as he was always a source of entertainment.

As a hardcore Halo fan, you let the missteps from one company soil your whole outlook on Halo, so much that you traded in MCC and refuse to buy the next game until it hits the bargain bin?

That doesn't sound like the actions of a hardcore fan to me. Sounds more like the actions of a fair weather fan.

People Can Fly did GOW Judgement.

Though they couldn't possibly fuck up GOW 1-3, could they?(Thought the same exact thing about MCC, in hindsight)

People Can Fly only did the Judgment campaign iirc.

Epic did the multiplayer and Aftermath which was designed by Cliff and Rod when they were still at Epic so... probably not really fair to criticise PCF on Gears.

One of my most anticipated things about a possible GOW Collection is a member of the press asking someone at Microsoft if it's gonna be a disaster like Halo MCC. I'll be disappointed if that doesn't happen.

I blieve that 343i working that much with Halo MCC will help them to get a good idea of what people want and what made the serie a success. So I wouldnt say exactly redeemed, but they certainly deserve more credit for Halo 5.

Oh god... I was so wrong! lol

It has hurt Halo 5 hype, but I bet once the marketing kicks into full gear everyone saying they're not going to get it are going to start wavering on that resolution.

A fair weather fan ditches as soon as thing isn't popular/good anymore straight away. With 343 we've suffered through them retroactively ruining Reach, Halo CEA being terrible, The abortion that was Halo 4 and now a broken mess of a collection that instead of celebrating Halo was a quick cashgrab that disgraces the series. I'm still a Halo fan, just not a fan of the trash that 343 continues to spit out.

Sounds like someone who spent $60 on an unfinished product and has justly lost confidence in the Halo franchise until they prove otherwise.
