Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

I was keeping all my Amiibo in their package, all pretty and perfect. Forgot to remove a sticker from one of the box (Peach). EVERY other stickers (a bunch) went off like nothing but for some reason that one ripped the cardboard… It's very ugly now.

I don't know what to do… Suck it up and finally open them all? Just buy a new Peach and attempt to give mine to a little girl on the street without getting arrested? I just can't have one of each in the package and one opened even if that's the way I'd like it, it's too much money. I have a Amiibo depression moment… Haha!

Wow... it's like the action figure thread all over again. I just don't get it. Why split threads when we're covering all regions and giving advice to each other on how to get amiibos. What happened to being amiibros?

Come back Canada. Take this as a peace treaty

Canada amiibo thread is actually split off from the Canadian Deals and Discussion thread where people that were looking for a dead thread with no deals because of the poor value of the CAD angrily shook their fists at amiibo hunters and yelled at them to get off their lawn.

See the thing I didn't understand about that was, why didn't they just come to the amiibo thread? Especially after first learning that the location of the Future Shop link was posted last night was here. If I were those people, I would have thought to check this location first for follow up info and continue from here. It just seems kind of odd how they did it.

Self quoting, here.

Also, I think it's mostly there to manage the absolute clusterfsck that is retailer communication in Canada. With the exception of that one ebgames super sweet image on their Twitter -- which wasn't entirely correct, anyway -- it's a total crapshoot.

My Toon Link, Bowser, and Shiek came from Best Buy. All packed awesomely, unlike ToysRus. Best Buy did a much better job shipping.

Toon Link: He has some scuffs on his shirt, but other then that he's perfect. Decal on sword and shield looks great and he looks like what I expected.

Sheik: Her hair is poorly done, and her paint looks like it's clumpy in areas. Poorly done like every other female Amiibo besides Samus.

Bowser: God tier, next to Pit and Fox in terms of high quality. He has a lot of weight to him, and he feels great because of it. It's awesome he's overstocked because he is really well done all around, and has extra details I didn't know even existed. People who don't want Bowser, or haven't bothered to get him yet. PICK HIM UP. Look for the best one of the bunch, almost every store who has Wave 3 up has Bowser in a huge abundance. He's amazing.

Shhh

When are you going to sleep over at my place. Get a big blanket fort and battle with our Amiibos.

Amazon UK sold out of their pre orders in 30 min earlier today.
Daaamn. That's insane. Looks like I'm jumping right onto Amazon US preorders right when they open, as an added security. Is there a link that'll provide the list of preorderable Wave 4's that I can refresh?

So Canada has their own amiibo thread now? Probably for the best, since Canadian and American release dates have become so different with this wave. I'll still be frequenting this thread thought regardless.

I'm glad someone else finally acknowledges that the non-Samus female Amiibos suck.

Don't even joke about it, haha! Geez, I'd be inclined to bash my head in the wall if that were the case!!

Idk at this point nothing will shock me anymore.
some personal predictions for some exclusives

Duck Hunt Dog - Pet Co.
Wario - Exxon
Game & Watch - Hastings
Lucina - Kmart
Charizard - Petsmart
R.O.B - RadioShack
Ganondorf - Big & Tall

Canada/Us wasn't the issue it was North America vs Europe.

I feel like they didn't even try to check out this thread.
And here is the current US Amiibo |OT|...
----

When did we get declared the US thread?

That's weird. Why should one region get their own thread?
I wondered the same thing. I read it a bit, turns out this thread is a bit too US focused, and they had trouble determining who was actually Canadian or not, so they wanted an easier way to talk to each other.

Sucks, 'cause I guess they have no need to be here anymore. Well, if it's better for 'em, then hey, why not.

Still lame. This is globalized and as such all regions are basically different. But everyone buys and orders from each region. So everyone uses each region.

I'm not buying NA Amiibos anymore. So does that mean I shouldn't post here?

They are going to kill off the community selfish bastards.

Nope, I kinda suggested it earlier but thought it was agreed not to, but just to include where the location whenever you said you got something.

edit. and yeah, I don't know why this is the American OT when europeans and others still post here.

I was wondering about that too, since yeah, people like you don't even buy from your own region, and for good reason.

I'm disappointed too, but hey, what're ya gonna do. They wanted to do it, so be it.

Lets post in all the places!

YES. If everyone remembers to include their location, we wouldn't necessarily need a separate thread, that's true! I saw that idea posted earlier.

I got it for a week now. Have you check your Tracker? Amazon should provide it for you and give it a general idea of where it's at.
No, I didn't get a tracker for mine (got it straight from Amazon France, no 3rd party) but they said there might not be tracking on international shipments, at least not that one.

Nope, I'm still waiting. US-East, ordered mid-Dec as backups.
So you preordered around the same time I did. Good to know :)

Again, I can't speak for everyone, but the Canadian retailer situation is a mess right now, and people were getting sour grapes about the discussion being all amiibo in the other Canada thread, so that one was spun up.

Basically, there's been a ton of ambiguity regarding Wave 3 (and, god forbid, Wave 4/Super Mario Series) in Canada, so the Deals and Discussion thread was full of (fast and furious) discussion about retailer availability/spotting.

- Toys R Us still has a street date of Feb 6 for Lucario, but apparently the rest of the wave (including formerly Target-exclusive Rosalina) has been randomly showing up at Toys R Us stores inconsistently across the country... and some stores /have/ sold Lucario. No Super Mario Series yet.
- Wal-Mart has Wave 3 up for pre-order on their website, but you can't complete any orders. It just went up recently. No information on Rosalina there. No Super Mario Series yet.
- BB/FS basically pissed off Canada by saying they were going to open pre-orders for Rosalina last night at 12 AM PST (3 AM EST/4 AM Atlantic), and then that ended up being delayed and just randomly showed up and sold out in like a ten minute window. No info on Meta Knight, except some retailers are saying you can now get him in store when iirc the previous hint was "online, pre-orders only", so now people will be watching that like a hawk.
- ebgames put up Mario Series out of the blue and Toad sold out in like 15m. Also no information on Rosalina there. I have no sweet clue what the Shulk situation is
- Amazon.ca had Rosalina go up randomly in the middle of the night for like 10m or something, and the Super Mario Series also went up randomly, and there's no real clarity on when Wave 4 or the rest of SMS will go up.

So basically retailers aren't saying shit and the thread is basically a torrent of information (good or bad) that would probably confuse the shit out of other regions that at least SEEM to have coherent release schedules/patterns.

Pretty damn stupid. I'm not going to be buying in NA retail anymore. I will only be importing. So should I create a JP/EU Amiibo thread only?

I just don't get why Canada alone deserves its own section. But then again, GAF does allow threads like this (I mean based on region), so it's within the sites guidelines. Not complaining in that sense.

Just don't get why it's a thing, and why it needs to happen.

I'm still checking here for global pre-orders, but this just started off because people were splintering off from the Canada Deals thread, not from the Amiibo thread.

I don't suspect that the other thread will be nearly as popular. If you're not Canadian you probably won't ever even go in there since this thread is more generally for everybody. I don't think that thread will have an adverse effect on the community. I say let them have the thread. Though I think if any other place needs one it's Europe.

I just hope things don't spiral out of control and before long this thread is pushed into community. Let's tread lightly amiibros and amiigals.

I understand why the Canadians are doing it as the Rosalina thing really screwed things up there.

It's a winless fight. Just let them have their thread. We went through this last week and it's pointless to argue it. They didn't feel heard here, so they went and made their own thread. A majority of us in FigureGAF scratched our heads when some people made an Action Figure GAF thread, but whatever. They're happier, we're doing just fine, and all is well.

Of course, it's still fun to make jokes about it.
