Rumour: Gold and Silver Mario amiibo on the way?

I do think this a bit overkill. I'm glad I decided I'm only buying one of characters I like. 4 different Mario amiibo this soon is pushing it....
 
Man, you can't make this stuff up. They'll probably release ten of these things at random locations and people will fist fight each other over them.

They skipped the Super Smash Bros Mario and made these after the Mario Party version.

Guessing it's a special promotion when Mario Party 10 comes out.
 
Because it's the exact same model as the Mario Party 10 one, I imagine many a scalper just painting the normal version silver / gold and selling it at a premium under false assumptions. Very cool... very cool...

The packaging would be a lot harder to fake, and I can't imagine that for what appears to be some kind of a chase variant that there's much of a market for loose ones. Not to say that you couldn't make a decent chunk of change with that scam, but it wouldn't be anywhere close to a sealed, genuine article.
 
They're trying so hard to replicate the success of Skylanders and Disney Infinity that it reeks of desperation. Might as well milk it while you still can, I guess.

With how bad stock has been, this actually sounds accurate! I'm so glad I only want to complete the Smash line. I couldn't handle collecting EVERY amiibo. Especially with rare palette swaps like this. Those collecting every single Amiibo are incredible people.

I envy you :)

I don't think they ever said it will be digital only. They said you can choose digital prizes but never said that physical prizes wouldn't be included. Could be written that way to give them room to determine if to use these as prizes as well or not.

I don't think they'd have sell sheets if they weren't being intended for general sale. Granted, if they are chases, then "general sale" is a very operative term, but it's still something that the mass market will have a chance of getting for themselves through largely normal means.

What if they make the silver one cheaper than the gold one. The gold one would become an ebay masterpiece.
 
hmmm. My club nintendo account is platinum. So, now do I start up a separate account and get it to gold so I can get both...just in case?

However, now it has been leaked that the new Mario amiibo is going to be a timed exclusive to that vary bundle.

People started to wonder if this might be exclusive for awhile, as the rest of the line was able to be pre-ordered, but some figured it was just a mistake. While the bundle cannot be ordered yet, the listing was just put up on Amazon according to amiibo Inquirer and had the following description:

Why would they make the regular Mario amiibo time limited and then have a Silver and Gold edition as well?

These Silver/Gold Marios may not be available to the large market if they are currently making consumers purchase the limited edition Mario Party 10 just to get the regular Mario.

I know. What if each color is a separate reward choice though? And you can only pick one of them if you have one platinum account?

e.g., Gold status allows choice of gold amiibo or a selection of digital rewards. Platinum status gives all those reward choices in addition to more expensive digital reward selections and the silvery/platinum amiibo as a choices as well.

as sad as i may sound, i think the way people get anal over these things is funny. this just adds more fuel to the fire :p i do like the gold one tho, it does look pretty cool
 
I've seen that there's the amiibo-specific party mode in MP10, but how does it work exactly? Is it worth getting a MP amiibo for that mode or will the Mario amiibo from Smash also work fine? I'd prefer to not have to buy anymore if I can just use the one I got.
 
Personally, the silver would be the closest thing we'd get to Metal Mario, so that'd be my choice if they gave me the option.

I hope it is a gift for elite members, because it'd be idiotic to set these as normal rewards @ 800+ when most of us have already spent our coins.
 
Nintendo, please stop milking us. You are going too far.

Edit: I seriously think Nintendo is trying to milk their most loyal fanbase, and that's not cool.
