I wasn't really a fan of them turning Iggy's fart thing into a running joke. Worked better as a one off in the manga I think.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders |OT| ATTEMPT NO MANGA SPOILERS HERE

Every single page, you guys. I'm as excited about them getting to "those" parts as you are, but please respect the anime-only crowd. Don't be dropping names. Come back to RealJoJoGAF and we can talk about the newest part. :P

1. It's not a reboot, it's an adaptation of all the manga chapters.
2. Wait, you really preferred Jonathan to Battle Tendency's awesome Pillar Men and crazy mofo Joseph?
3. It's Stand of the Week from here on out, so either get used to it or quit while you're ahead.

But still, I don't get what you mean by "shift in theme", apart from going to a single threat to monsters of the week. Jojo is still a crazy awesome battle series focusing more on creativity and manliness as it always was.

2. Yeah, because Dio was so awesome the first time. The whole first part had a 70s horror vibe, which I found really unique.
3. I see people mentioned that. I'll probably drop this show.

The first two parts were 10 and 16ish episodes long. In that time, you met characters, fought some dudes, did some training, and moved on. I'm 13 episodes into Part 3 and pretty much nothing of note has happened
aside from Avdol dying.

There were (technically) 4 pillar men, so fighting each one felt like an accomplishment and showed how much stronger JoJo has gotten. So far in Part 3. there's been some 10-odd fights with the most flat opponents I've ever seen in a shounen anime. There is no real character development, no plot advancement (getting from HK to India just to fight more dudes is not advancement), and the enemies have been pretty lame thus far. Ghost ships and cars? There could be something here if each opponent lasted more than one episode at least. I'm getting really tired of the "What is their power?" -> "haha I outsmarted you" -> "ora ora ora ora" power rangers loop. It also never really feels like Jotaro is at a disadvantage.

Sorry if I seem really negative. I just really, really enjoyed parts 1 and 2, and 3 has been a big letdown. Clearly not that many people agree with me, so I won't shit up the thread further, haha. Maybe I'll give the show a shot when the next protagonist arrives. (Jotaro lasts longer than one part, right? I feel like he's the only mascot character I've ever seen from JoJo so he's probably staying around for a while.)

The main character changes every part.

Also you're early into the first half of Stardust Crusaders, which is a really weak part of the manga as a whole. The second half of SC is much better, but it only just started five weeks ago.

You should at least watch these episodes of the last season:

Justice 1 and 2

Death 13 1 and 2

Judgement 1 and 2

Those episodes are important and/or good.

Then you can catch back on the current season, which is already better than the previous half.

Damn they really upgrading the fight, Jotaro and Anubis actually dueling for an length this time.

And the ending scene lmao,.. Anubis's VA going ham.

Without fail? That's pretty awesome. Mind telling me what episode of which "season" Part 4 starts? I'd like to avoid spoilers anyway.

Part 4 will probably be it's own season when it starts. Part 1 & 2 were short enough to cram into a season but most from here on out will need a full 52 episodes. SteelBallRun will need a lot more though lol.

Part 3 isn't over yet, the second half just started and there's still 19 episode to check out. Next season will probably next year I guess, fall if we're lucky.

Part 3's quality is kind of all over the place but it really goes up in quality in the second half, which is what's currently airing. The payoff at the end of part 3 is pretty amazing, and I would at least recommend watching those episodes if you want to try again. (And after this latest episode, David Production is going to knock those out of the fucking park.)

I can send you a PM when it gets to the part where it starts setting up everything leading up to DIO, if you'd like.

One of the best eps of part 3. It was intense and then that ending was hilarious. Polnareff cared more about a cow going nuts than getting Jotaro patched up.

What about that move that Polnareff does where he throws his sword or something... How come he can only do that move one time during a fight? How long does he have to wait til he can use it again?

There is always weird stuff like this that boggles me.

Well he throwing his sword, should've self explanation.

The move literally throws his Stand's blade, so he was talking about how he would be left unarmed if he used that move and it didn't take his opponent out (unless he managed to retrieve it in time).

Great episode, and I like the liberties that David took. As good as Jojo is, Araki is very inconsistent and tends to make stuff up as he goes, so it's nice that we'll have an adaptation that fixes some mistakes.

Also, next week is going to be amazing.

That was great.
Personally I thought the whole conclusion of Anubis being thrown dragged out a bit.
But yes,
ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA

The action in this week's episode was fantastic. Once again, I felt the tension in the fight with Anubis. And the ending bit introducing to next week's episode was fantastic! Can't wait!

I also loved how far away he was from the boat to see anything, but oh well, anime logic

By the way, how does this fight differs from the manga?

I love this series btw

Just in case anyone hasn't caught it yet: The previous episode, Anubis possessed Chaka, then it possessed Khan; Chaka Khan.

FInally a satisfying episode which didn't get resolved in a non-conventional way, i'm getting really sick of the enemy of the week format.
Fortunately they told me the last stand users + Dio are full of awesome.

I liked the way the way the fight went. Polnareff got shit on even when he was fairly competent for an episode. Poor guy.

Can't wait for the Joseph episode coming up. As much as I like him being comedic relief/support, Its a good change of pace having him deal with the threat himself.

he's a good mirror to stoic Jotaro. He's crazy but battle capable as long as you don't need to brute strength your way through a stand. If the part 4 stands are like Anubis and better I can't wait for part 4.

I am a little worried about the number of episodes.

If second season has actually 24 episodes and they devote 2 episodes to every opponent, they'll have reached Dio by episode 14. Some episodes will have to be dragged to 3 parts. I wonder which they are going to be.

Final encounter with Dio will be at least an epic 5 episode battle, so they'll reach him around episode 18-19 if they follow that route.

More powerful, like having the ability to change your face and smell?

Hey, sometimes you roll garbage in the Stand Lottery. Look at Hermit Purple!

I am a little worried about the number of episodes.

I wouldn't worry about that, I can think of at least three fights later that can go for three episodes and it wouldn't feel dragged.

Edit: Looks like I am misremembering. In any case DP probably has this all planned out.

I don't think your math is quite right, though to actually count out each battle from here until Dio would be skirting the spoiler line.

If you really want to have this discussion bring it to the manga thread.

Emcee, it might also be time to edit the title of the manga thread to add an "anime watchers beware" warning like the Game of Thrones book thread has.

Honestly, a lot of stands aren't combat stands. Most of the series is just weird gimmick stands, and the gimmicks just happen to be really cool. That's part of why Anubis was so tough, because he's just a straight up fighting stand. No dumb gimmicks or anything. Just a straight up fight to the death.

I'm pretty sure ATTEMPT NO MANGA SPOILERS HERE makes the point clear. Come back to RealJoJoGAF so we can talk about spoilers, but please don't even name drop for the anime-only crowd. How many times do we have to go through this?

I never understood how a name of a character that has never appeared before constitutes a spoiler. It tells you literally nothing.

I mean I don't do it in here, I just don't get it.

Well technically anything that has yet to be shown should be counted as a spoiler.

Some people are way more sensitive to spoilers then others on GAF I find. The only thing that bothers me is "subtle" teasing that's actually not subtle at all

To me a spoiler is something that, well, spoils the enjoyment by the information conveyed or implied. A name does neither.

We know the next stand is called Bast. I would be utterly impressed if a anime-only watcher could extrapolate 1% of the battle from there.

I meant adding it for the manga thread, not this one. Some anime only people have accidentally wandered into the manga thread and gotten spoiled.

I understand not talking about future events and have actively tried to not participate in any discussion about that in this thread for the most part.

I like his evolution of character from Battle Tendency. He never brute forced his way through a challenge, he just thought his way through any situation. Now he's somehow crazier then he was, but he's still got it.

My JoJo knowledge ends with SC, so whenever I hear people say positive things about Part 4 I get hyped. From what I understand, it sounds like Araki really gets a good idea of where he wants to go, and executes it well.

He really doesn't though. In many episodes where he isn't the focus he's portrayed as just as dumb as Polnareff, unable to perceive threats and such, which is rather odd compared to his younger self.

I'm with NeonZ; I don't like the evolution of young Joseph into the old because he's actually completely lost it. His cleverness and sense of awareness have totally plummeted in part 3 compared to his part 2 self.

I'm just going to assume Joseph never stopped fighting and eventually just took one too many blows to the head. The same kind of decline is evidence is boxers and I think football and soccer players as well.

i didn't think young jo would struggle to win in that fight. it was a very good and funny episode. can the sword
be repaired? what happens if the sword is destroyed, does the stand die permanently?
