11 minutes of The Order 1886 gameplay

Oh for the last time this is gameplay just because your not shooting shit does not make it not gameplay. Its not that hard. Stop moving goalposts

Everything is so gorgeous and nicely detailed that it's going to be a lot of fun to just walk around and look at stuff.

That said, that clip was rather boring. I expected "gameplay", not walking around the base.

Fortunately, there just so happens to be 'gameplay' like this to go along with all of the gawking at the visuals:

Do you honestly think that walking around is all you do?

Its funny that when they show some cover shooting its just a boring corridor shooter, then they show some QTE and its Heavy Rain. They show some story and its just a movie, they show some slower paced "exploring" and it's a walking simulator (not gameplay). They show the best graphics ever and the bouncing hair breaks immersion.

You know what would have been exploration? If you could actually walk around the base outside that hallway and had to find your way to the Tesla room. There could be some interesting detours along the way, like the barracks for the other members of the Order or the kitchen. You wouldn't have to visit them, but you would find new things by going to them.

They'll have some real exploration after the whole tutorial, since tutorials tend to be ramrod linear affairs.

Do we know the review embargo? I kind of want to have it pre loaded on launch, if i can get as much enjoyment out of this game as i did Wolfenstein I have no problem dropping full price on a single player only game.

He didn't even have to aim for that headshot, that's not gameplay that's a QTE.

Gameplay is half circle half circle + two button presses.

Preorder reinstated.

This thread is proof that cynicism is becoming a real problem on GAF

There still are legitimate criticisms about the game (from what has been shown) you could have. But movie jokes, "gameplay" goalpost moving, and other drive by comments are lazy and old.

those black bars are pretty annoying on the video. What purpose do they serve? I thought letterboxing died with the 4:3 TVs. Was the game made with a higher aspect ratio in mind because that makes absolutely no sense.

Hopefully, they won't be as noticeable on a bigscreen TV.

Performance only.. Judging recently from TEWI the borders serve no other purpose whatsoever. Except performance and awkward FOV there was no magical cinematic difference either. And is bad new for 16:9 display owners that expect their display area to be properly utilized

Agreed. I can probably say that Heavy Rain is my favorite game of all time, and The Order has NEVER reminded me of it. That said, The Order has always looked great, to me. So the naysayers offer tasty tears and nothing more.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Derrick use to be ridiculed, now he wouldn't even stand out.
He was just ahead of his time.

It buffles my mind about the lenghts some folks will go to shit on this game.

You only need to search some of their usernames on google to find out.

Still baffles me how people can hype some things on neogaf and then turn around and not be excited for this game. Once an opinion is made it becomes hard to shake even if logic and reason goes against it.

I remember when people were calling Sony liars when they said the first reveal trailer was in-game.
Go back and watch the reveal trailer now. It doesn't look anywhere close to where the game is now. (BTW I haven't watched this footage in particular)

And when you combine all that you get varied and interesting pacing, which is what this game is going for.

Oh, and look, the fanboys and trolls are back to have another go at shitting up The Order 1886 threads.
P.S. Not referring to posters who are obviously joking and using sarcastic remarks to describe this thread

But...but...but.... Eurogamer told me only open world games are good because they define next gen gameplay. Pre order cancelled

/jk Sorry couldn't help myself XD

At this point the cynicism is too strong. I doubt this game will review favourably in light of all the negativity, now matter how good it may be. Really sad for RAD, they've worked so hard.

I'm hoping it will get 8s and high 8s..i'm sure it'll have a few 6s and 7s in there as well from the more critical reviewers. The italian guy whose video is in op said he would give it a 9/10.This game has the best visuals i have ever seen in my life..amazing work by RAD.

Can't just celebrate hard work, loads of games perceived as bad had hard work done on them too. The atmosphere is more mixed for this game than negative (just like users here) but that's a totally separate issue than actual reviews. There are positive previews and there are negative previews for this game. Important to remember, plenty of great games don't get great pre-release excitement (Wolfenstein). Hard to tell from preview sections how the rest of the game fares.

It's just part of the cutscene though... it remains to be seen if that's the reload animation in game. If it is, it's a bold choice to pan the camera downward to the weapon. Not something typically done in shooters.

What I'm saying is, there's no way that's the in-game reload animation. I mean, it might be, but you certainly won't see it that clearly, from that angle.

edit: i guess you didn't specify "in gameplay" so I shouldn't even be arguing with you. Yes, it's clearly the best reload animation I've seen, even if it's a cutscene.

But it's not a cutscene a la Uncharted. This is real time what you see. You can even see the prompt in for a second lol

Some people still don't believe that the game looks that good. RaD must be proud like nothing. Amazing

I remember the "concern" for Sunset Overdrive scoring well after that videogamer.com preview.

They ended up not scoring it well but many others did.

I cancelled my erroneously priced collector's edition from BB. Trying to go through 2015 without a single gaming purchase.

At least I'll get through February now.

I'm expecting this game to be much better than people are expecting. Ready at Dawn has shown barely any footage, and very little of said footage comes from the shooting sections. The entire way this game has been advertised feels very off, like they're scared of spoiling the best bits.

It probably won't be the sort of game I enjoy though.

You talk like it's some grand conspiracy. The more likely situation is just that the developers haven't shown anything to make a large group of people want the game.

But doesn't it have more pre orders than Bloodbourne and Evolve?

I'd have no idea about any of that. I'd say it's largely irrelevant, though, when talking about enthusiast game coverage and discussion.

I think I read your post wrong. I thought you meant it as there isn't a large group at all that wants the game. My bad.

How do you know this?

Interested in how many pre-orders Evolve is getting.

I think it's from someone who works at Gamestop (Bish-checked). Not sure if it's just local/regional numbers or otherwise. Plus I'm sure there's references to Amazon top selling list too factored in.

I don't remember the user though.
