Dear Kanye, please fall off of my face. Signed ... Some dude

Short answer...yes.

New Flash, Katrina hit a majority black area, so let's not pretend that 'all races suffered' equally.

Next you're going to tell me cops kill everyone, #AllLivesMatter.

Because the last 300+ years have had color attached to it that led us to this point?

So its ok to invoke mean and hatred words and actions towards people that have not been mistreated in the last 300 years? Racism should not be allowed period. By any race.

Give me one example of how racism has negatively affected white Americans ever.

You are right... he said nothing wrong. He has done nothing wrong.... Please.

Do you have any actual rebuttal?

My opinion (and I am entitled to my opinion)... his moves are calculated. He knew exactly what he was doing.
He has made racist remarks in the past. One that sticks out in particular is his line about white people making money and not spending it.
He called out the President by saying he doesnt care or like black people during the Katrina disaster....
He made comments about white people trying to act black when they rap.

Sorry.. but this to me comes off as racial comments.

Again, you're referencing a specific verse from "Clique", which goes:

You know white people get money, don't spend it
Or maybe they get money, buy a business
I rather buy 80 gold chains and go ig'nant
I know Spike Lee gon' kill me but let me finish
Blame it on the pigment, we living no limits

You're saying it's racist because he...what? Refers to white people? Say that white people get money and don't spend it? That rich people horde their money?

Everyone else here has more than covered Bush's horrible handling of Katrina, but in case you need a refresher, there is an entire Wiki article dedicated to it. You can read how disconnected Bush was from the recovery, as well as the measures he could have taken to prevent a lot of the damage.

As for complaining about white artists appropriating black hip-hop culture, how on Earth do you think this is a racist statement?

Which one of you guys is Olivia Pope?

This thing started out as a rant against Kanye. Now the narrative is about the OP and his foolishness.

This has been a good read.

I've been watching a lot of Scandal recently

So Bush represents all white people now? Duly noted. Since white people now have an official representative like every news channel thinks Sharpton represents all black people. We should totes talk about white on white violence, these riots, drug use, etc.

If we lived in a utopic society like the one you're presenting we wouldn't have the racial issues that cause people to make such statements.

But please continue to try to divorce the past from the present.

Kanye is one of the best artists alive, and was the only reason the Grammies were even tempting to watch.

I'm sure your grandma thinks that Beck looks like a very nice young man, but I'd rather watch Kanye hop on stage and say what he pleases.

No idea why any of this has to be about race, not even touching that

Seems like the OP has a problem with certain dudes that go against the grain

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=981137&highlight=

LOL.

Am I the only one that thinks Marshawn Lynch is a punk for not speaking to the media? I watch him in these interviews (saying stupid shit like, " I am here so I want get fined" over and over .... jsut do the damn interview and stop bitching.

OP, why are you so salty about the way black men conduct themselves?

Newsflash, Kanye wasn't the only person who thought Bush didn't give a fuck about black people during Katrina.

Ask anyone who lived through it if they thought Bush cared about them.

Mike Myers - "Kanye West spoke the truth about Hurricane Katrina injustices."

Sorry but if Bush cared, he did an absolute shit job showing it.

It's not that George Walker (Texas Ranger) Bush doesn't care about black people, it's that George Bush doesn't care about poor people.

Beck/Bush/Iggy Azalia/Taylor Swift (allowing for your, admittedly idiotic, interpretation of racism) are children?

Not only that, but according to OP those 4 represent all white people. One of the best things about being the majority is that no one represents you because you're seen as an individual by society. No clue why OP would actually want to be represented by someone.

It's not as cool as it sounds.

I'm not sure if Kanye would be willing to collaborate with someone who doesn't respect artistry.

Well I mean he worked with Skrillex so....

He's not racist. The thread was doomed the second that was typed.

He is an asshole though. Not for his opinion, but for personally insulting Beck. And just because Beck's cool with it doesn't make it all good.

This is different than the Tswift thing, he personally went after the dude and his music. Fuck Kanye.

I just wish I understood what's supposed to be so earth-shatteringly good about his music... Like, it's aight, but I don't see why people talk like he's transcended our realm or some shit. Maybe then I'd give him a break on being such a cunt. Until then he's just an ass who makes some very average music.

What? No, guys few people outside USA knows this guy, here in Mexico has a tiny, little fanbase, heck even Pherrel is more popular, look at France.

Most people don't know him, honestly my only Kanye knowedge comes from GAF

"Even Pharrell"? The dude has sung on three of the biggest wordwide music hits in the last ten years (Get Lucky, Blurred Lines and Happy), I'm pretty sure Pharrell is more famous right now than basically any music star.

And Kanye is world famous, everybody knows him.

Seems really odd for him to critisize Beck for his lack of "artistry". I mean, out of all the artists you could whine about? It just...doesn't even make sense.

Average? Who else is making music like him? Not to mention changing style every single album?

I highly doubt he even listened to the album.

So is Kanye fucking Bey behind Hov's back or not? He seems dangerously infatuated with her and her creative ability.

Why are white people so scared of confident, head strong black men?
I'm pretty sure much of the reaction we are seeing is not due to "fear of a confident, head strong black men". I assume most of the reaction is due to the insulting artist-related comments he made about the other nominees and even more specifically about Beck. Outside of a spattering of racist accusations, most people are pissed that he made those comments.

Confidence nor being a head strong black man is the issue.

I will say that I don't understand why he does this. What he did to Taylor Swift was completely wrong and for him to do it again, I just don't know what to say other than he is acting like a foolish asshole troll.

Kanye turned a soul sample into a work of art. His production style is heavily influenced by producers to this very day. Sure his rapping is ok at most but the fact that he can turn a sample like this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPeSPB68i2c

into something magical like this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPeSPB68i2c

He should be praised for his contributions despite his antics.

Beyoncé had a good suprise album, but nowhere near AOTY. Same goes for Beck. St. Vincent had a better album than both, for instance.

Kanye is a good producer, but his childish antics are too much.

I just wish I understood what's supposed to be so earth-shatteringly good about his music... L
It's the persona that people really like. Basically he shifted the game and made it ok to be a melvin/nerd in rap, to not be alpha all the time, to be vulnerable. he sorta buried gangsta rap in that sense. It's his biggest contribution. He also made some fire beats and helped define the sound of Roc-A-Fella.

Yeah, when it comes to the music ppl are fooling themselves a bit. Just Blaze and RZA made pretty similar product to the early albums sonically and everything after 808s is just a bunch of other people's work copy pasted willy nilly together with Kanye's name on it.

I agree with this. Beck shouldn't have won, it was a charity win.

Sounds scary. In my world, everyone likes really bad hipster rock. You know it as "indie music".

Indie Music = Artists who talk about the exact same thing as mainstream artists, but because they sound so damn derivative they never blow up. So they created a new genre dubbed "indie music" to make themselves feel better about their inability to garner a sizable fanbase.

Hey man, this Paul McCartney guy should be lucky to be working with Kanye. I've never even heard of him prior to Only One.

Kanye making irrelevant artists relevant every day.

Praise be to Yeezus.

Did you see Katy launch that new chick's career? Minnie I think her name was.

Doesnt matter. It would be considered a racist statement if I said Obama doesnt care about White people. Right or wrong?

So why is ok for Kanye to say it? Because he is black?
Here is a news flash. Katrina killed equally as do most natural disasters. All races suffered.

#AllNaturalDisastersMatter

But, he IS a loud mouthed idiot, which is a shame because it detracts from his music. If he'd keep his talented mouth shut except to produce, he would have a much better public character.

It adds to his music.

Don't know why people are so fascinated with plain and polite. Lupe's there for you I guess, lol.

So is Kanye fucking Bey behind Hov's back or not? He seems dangerously infatuated with her and her creative ability.
I think he's jealous of Jay. He would never admit it (and he may not even be cognizant of it), but I'm pretty sure alot of his moves recently have been in direct response to whatever the fuck Jay Z and Bey are doing. After Jay married Bey, Kanye dropped Amber Rose and picked up the next closest chick available (and was willing to tolerate him), Kim Kardashian.

The only problem is that Kim isn't really equal to Beyonce. It might be somewhat different if he'd picked up someone with actual talent, like Gabrielle Union, Gabby would never go with Kanye. Thus, his only option to satisfy his ego in relation to Jay Z was to marry Kim. Which he did. The stupid thing is, he could be Leonardo De Caprio right now and smashing everything under the sun (probably including Taylor Swift, since they seem to have similar personalities- though Taylor's seems to be more reserved), but he's too caught up in being the GOAT to do that.

That's my armchair analysis of the situation.
