What your calling details is just the over-sharpening. It looks much more natural in the final, and has the same modeling etc.

The game was never "oversharpened." Oversharpened would be the witcher 3 images released a few months ago, or the default sharpening filter present in the witcher 2.

Rather, the game has desaturated and "unsharpened" since reveal. Likewise the have also color corrected a couple scnes to be more bluish / greyish.
 
I don't think the video quality is good enough to compare in these shots. You can quite clearly see that the new build has better lighting but if you look at the wrinkles on the up to date shots, they are blurry in comparison to the older shots. I've seen recent footage and details like that are NOT blurry. This tells me that they're comparing direct feed footage with Youtube footage. We've been here before.

That's probably why you're losing some "detail" in things like the gun as well. Compression is blurring some of the textures
 
Am I imagining stuff or does that weapon have less details in the final version?

lt looks that way but look closely they are not exactly at the same frame/position so some things look like it's missing(The second row of slots/holes in the front of the gun)

I was trying to figure out why the first build left a better impression. That's it, the billowing coat-thing. Has that "epic hero in the wind" trope about it. Definitely doesn't look as real as the second build.

Wheres this video ? Sure looks similiar to twitter post months ago where supposedly it was made to look like a downgrade, but it was just different uniforms being used.

@tiberiuslive those are "infiltration" uniforms, much more logical for combat - the full ceremonial ones are used in other places. :)

Unlabeled, it looks like the "final build" came from a cutscene that you would see at a game reveal, and the "old build" would be the more achievable real-time finished product, complete with lowered lighting quality.

Pretty crazy that they're switched around in this case.

As a general reminder, both of the outfits being shown in those comparison gifs are in the game, and were not removed.

The reasoning isn't really a spoiler, but I'm putting it behind tags anyway just to be safe. :)
There's just an outfit change or two throughout the game, which you'll learn why from the story.
 
I actually watched both segments side by side when the leaked version was still online. Retail looks a lot better in motion imo. More atmospheric, more volume everywhere, no aliasing or shimmering where the old build still had some, plus the animations and eyes look much better in the new build. Gallahad had glassy eyes in the rooftop binoculars segment of the old build, whereas he looks realistic now. Likewise when Percival shoots the guy with the concussive shotgun, and then says "stopped for a pint did you?", that scene looks and sounds better in the retail build.

In the segment where they drag the injured police officer, there is shimmering and jaggies in the room that are gone in retail.

Lastly, the room where they break open the weapon caskets is more realistic lighting wise. When he pulls out a knife to lodge it open, it looks more photo realistic in the new build.

I would not agree with this point SPECIFICALLY.

I have Panny plasma with colour setting already dialed down from factory specs (custom Game mode used) and colours palette is vivid and damn natural.
 
More natural and less blackcrush. Sometimes also a bit too monochromatic, but still very refined in its use of colour.
In other vids of the latest build, there is more detail and variation in colour.

Amazing. Like looking at paintings of Rembrandt, Titiaan, Da Vinci, etc.
 
I think that's more due to the costume change than anything else. The infiltration gear seems to be heavier material than the more ornate one.

Thought about that after I posted. If so, then it's quite impressive if the suit's weigh actually has bearing on wind physics.

Looks like they fixed his freaky eyes. Interesting to see the changes in lighting and colors

I think that's the video quality mostly. It's not going to be as pale as that when you play, unless every bit of footage I've seen in the last couple of days has been 'enhanced' colour wise.

Haven't we learned by now that these comparisons are pointless? Driveclub/ISS were lessons to be learned, not ignored.
 
I'm loving the improvements. It looks absolutely fantastic.

Edit: I for one welcome the recent Sony trend of release games looking better then initial reveals.
 
The best graphics ever. What sorcery are they using that even noughty gods seemingly arent? Looks like real life.

Dammit i think im praising a console game in a console exclusive game thread a lil bit too much. I should think of other peoples feelings.

Considering the setting this colour palette didn't really work. London was smoggy and dirty. It looks too brown and clean here.

Now this is much better. It looks polluted. You can almost smell the filthy air.
 
Hard is the new normal I play all games on the hardest setting from the word go.



So fucking hard not too, the story is so tied into everything its hard to talk about anything without stepping on RADs toes. Gameplay really feels like a mix of TLOU and Gears of War. The only complaint I have is that some of the story building (slower moments) tend to go on for a bit too long.

The AI is good enemies take cover and actually try to flank you. Its not super advanced but they don't just stand there and wait on you to shoot them like they did at PSX.

Sorry took so long to respond we got kind of busy.

That is good news. Thank you RAD ... this is the most annoying thing in games for me. Dead or poor AI. And most devs don't even focus or put time to come up with decent A.I anymore. Most just focus on visuals to lure gamers w/o any substance.

About the old vs new build colors/lighting differences, I actually like some of the old ones better. I wish they have feature like we had in UC with different filters to unlock. I loved that feature to play with different filters.
