The Order: 1886 Gets New Direct-Feed Screenshots From Obama

Just to set the record straight, a LOT of games that came out recently wish they had half of what the order 1886 has to offer.

This is why i said this about the game:
"Amazing smooth frame rate with amazing graphics, good platforming, amazing sound work and voice acting, polished bug free game is very good."

The constructive criticism i wrote is not to downplay the game.
Its to help you guys understand what it is FOR ME.
And maybe for you too.

The criticisms are about what I expected from the official footage + bits and pieces of spoiler streams I saw about.

The overall gunplay has always looked solid, but the gameplay footage here and there has always had a tinge of clunkiness to them. And the QTEs, etc, is relatively well-documented. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it's definitely something that's love/hate in terms of QTE-design choices, and if you're the type that dislikes QTE anyway, one wouldn't like it regardless.

Obviously can't comment much on the mission design thing because only saw two spoiler chapters, but I've liked what I've seen of the little spoilers here and there in terms of the moment-to-moment pacing. It's not all-shoot-bang, and while it's linear, I liked the flow and pacing of what I've been spoiled.

Yes, Circle is to get into cover and can be used to get out of cover or to jump to another cover location - as in move around the side of door-frame.

Thanks for confirming this. I was starting to wonder if I was imagining things

Much appreciated. Can you look into the cover system again? Check NateDrake's post above. Seems like a direct contradiction to your complaint.

I appreciate the impressions bro.

Guys.

Guys...

Combat is punchy as FUCK, and it feels soooo good, and it looks even better.

Yum.

The weapons have a physicality to them that few other games have. The only I can compare it to is TLOU.

Yup. I remember people getting radically hyped, dehyped and then hyped again in a matter of hours. Totally goofy.

Just started playing it! Just found
the resistance!

Oh <3
Explore every inch! It is worth it!

Played about a little more than a hour so far. Visuals are......wow. Was surprised to see no real-time reflection when I walked in front of a mirror.
Not real time? That's weird!
Does it look good though? Are you having fun? =]

Construct criticism is an important part of feedback. That's not downplaying at all. Anyways, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the game.

Visually the game is amazing (only have very minor complaints that no one else in the world would likely have). The text is a little small if you use subtitles.

I agree. And it fine to lambast QTE if you dont like them. What I am not a fan of is the hyperbole when estimating the amount of QTE. That shit was unbearable for some of the previews of the PSX demo when there were not that many in that demo in the first place.

So...

Graphics is marvelous.

Combat is punchy, solid and satisfying.

Atmosphere is amazing and unique.

Looks like this could be one of my most favorite games so far :)

Yeah there was a video I posted in the spoiler thread about that. Looks like mirror reflections are baked. Not many games bother putting them in anyway, but was a strange omission given the level of visual detail put into everything else.

The game works and the framerate is as advertised. God damn this industry is in bad shape when meeting what should be the bare essentials is note worthy.

BUTTON PROMPTS ARE QTE11111 /s

I'm not a fan of how The Order has button prompts for pretty much everything from melee to opening doors, but that hyperbole in previews was delirious.

Maybe it will be fixed later with a patch?

But it doesn't look like I will spend time looking at myself in the mirror. It is just a minor issue I won't feel bothered by :)

Pretty much. It was more of a "Huh....kind of expected it to reflect considering the amount of detail the game has" type of moment. Most won't even notice it. Kind of like shooting certain environmental objects won't leave bullet holes.

What if..
It's because they're vampires

.. THE ABOVE IS A BAD JOKE, DON'T PANIC. I KNOW NOTHING, I'M JON SNOW.

I doubt it's a "bug" to be patched. Such decisions are usually deliberate. But anyone "bothered" by it needs to look in the mirror IRL and ask themselves some important existential questions. It's just interesting to see where they've optimized with cutbacks. :D

What do you think I prefaced that video link with? ;)

One thing is for sure it should help me weed out reviewers I should ignore if they try to pull this(not for giving the game a negative review of course)

I just cant understand how a game industry professional does not know the difference between a QTE and button prompt. QTE means Quick Time Event it explains itself.

I facepalm when the insta-fail sequence was called archaic game design or whatnot.

Use your brain for a sec, games media. Disliking insta-fail stealth is one thing, but it has nothing to do with gameplay design, but story design. One would think they're experts at this after complaining about insta-fail stealth in games like AssCreed and Far Cry for ages.

The framerate is silky. The gunplay is responsive, the graphics are incredible , the sound is engrossing, the music and the atmosphere and the art direction are just...

It's a simple game, but it does what it does extremely well.

Feast your eyes on some fluid combat goodness and alt fire improv:

And that's all, folks.

Buy this game. That's all I gotta say.

I said it with DriveClub and ya'll didn't listen. Reviews aren't always gonna do you well.

Buy this game.

Any complaints so far? How's the AI? What difficulty are you playing at?

I checked again, circle gets you into cover.
once in cover pressing circle does nothing.
Pressing cross or LS down release you from cover.

You can however press side ways LS + circle to shift between two close covers.

I did manage to pull of corner cover transition !
It's clunky but it's the game (opposite to what i said), once in a corner you need to push LS to the side you wish to move (instead of pushing LS forward while face the side) and hit and HOLD cirlce, once the animation starts you need to release otherwise it will register as getting out of cover.

They need to enable camera bias in cover to make this more easy i guess.

Yeah... I'll wait, thanks.

No offense but you've played the game for how long? I should shovel out $60 (thats not a small amount of money) for your initial impressions?

Take it easy. Play more, give us legitimate gameplay impressions as you go.

I want to wait for more GAF reviews and critics.

I can see the articles now "the Order is the poster child for terrible game design"

Default diff. Medium?

AI looks very mobile. Some of stay out in the open a little too long, but they scurry about realistically.

I wish the walk about stages were used to more investigative effect. This game has such good atmosphere that I can't help but wish there some detective work involved. Finding clues, some branching paths in the story maybe. Could have been fun.

What's here is top notch, nonetheless.

Excellent start by RAD.

Right that sounds more like it. I played the whole airshp segment by pulling the stick instead of x. The cool thing is that when you pull the stick, you can quickly go back into cover without even pressing circle. I think you should be able to get used to the corner transition after a couple of attempts. Took me a couple of attempts and then it came naturally. Thanks for looking into it

Support good devs. That's all I'm really saying.

This type of game, of this quality, deserves success.

I've played for about an hour. Studying every bit the game has offered, and if it keeps up, purchase justified. Honestly.

Every time i see the game i can't get over how good the graphics are.I'm going to take it as slow as possible just so i can admire the world.

I understand what you're saying but I don't have $60 to just "support good devs". If their game is worth $60 I'm gonna get it.

I'm desperate for a victorian London era game, I just want it to be solid on all fronts considering its a SP game only.

I'll wait till you've played through at least half the game after the honeymoon phase is over.

Yeah, from what he has shown it is very early on in the game.

Umm ok why are you hung up on that?

If he likes the time he plays he likes it.
