What the fuck happened in here
I will never understand this. Eh, to each his own.So I watched someone stream this today, and I must say this game looks pretty damn amazing. The cutscenes seamlessly blends into gameplay, so it looks like you're constantly in a cutscene. Streamer got to the very end of the game, and that cinematic feel was maintained all the way through.
I'd be interested in picking this up, wonder how actually playing the game would feel.
Destiny was multi-console, so probably not.
We are approaching black hole status. Please, the Destiny hate reached solar mass. It got so bad that you couldn't even attempt to have a good time discussing the game without people shitting on it.
People like different things. If everyone accepted this, there'd really be no issues ever. But that's not fun. People have strong association with brands. In this case, you can use games, although you could extend that to manufacturers such as Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. They're not always linked. It's similar to personal and emotional investment in other things, such as sports or movies. A lot of folks tend to drive some sense of self-worth from this association. It's part of marketing. Think of it like brand religion. A lot of companies take that kind of stance, and a lot of marketing tries to cultivate it. It's not an attack on a game, it's an attack on me, my tastes, my thoughts, and my opinions.
I've done this on a few occasions on GAF, and it's always led me to amusing results. The fanatics are too obvious, so if I catch a post that seems reasonable but I can sense something beyond it, which either implies some feelings of displeasure, it's easy to branch off that, and within a couple of minutes find several posts where the same poster is more open in various ways. It makes the initial post present itself in a different light. The easiest way to catch it is when someone displays issues with another poster, game comparisons, sales comparisons etc. When there's a point of contention that goes beyond the feelings of indifference pretty much, and feels slightly illogical in the context of the conversation.
Basically, everyone is needlessly aggressive. It's just games.

The one I quoted you.. you weren't responding to anyone but making a statement but it was related to the 1.5-2.5 hours. This was the quote you originally responded to:
It doesn't match what you are saying now:
??
From what I remember, it was clear. There were many people that were making remarks/concern trolling than use it as a defense as "just stating my opinion"... "can't even state an opposing opinion anymore?" and etc.... I could be wrong![]()
uhhh the quotes you underlined? Read those again they match. I said Less than first in regards to gameplay so time spent playing<Time spent watching. Then I say more than half is spent watching cutscenes which is also time spent playing<Time spent watching so yes it does match.
He also says the game could be done in 6-8 hours, which I'm assuming is what he meant from that. Now if the guy who made the video said there was 1.5-2.5 hours of gameplay which was 35% of the game and the other 65% was cutscenes, that would line up with 6-8 hours to beat it. That's all I was implying. I'm not saying the guy was right, he obviously didn't time every single section of gameplay, I'm just saying, if the game can be done in 6-8 hours, than what that guy said still applies as possible IF the whole 35% gameplay thing is true, which we know isn't from impressions on this board so far.
Lol the defense force in this thread is too much. I get some of what you say, but sometimes people actually believe what they write, not everybody is a console warrior.
Are you Donald Trump in disguise?I wanna see his birth certificate.
Liking it more? Lol.The Order is love...
I EDITED.sorry
Yes, so most people were trying to clarifying the right information since so much misinformation is spread. But you got pretty defensive afterwards:
So Obama is actually English?
I wanna see his birth certificate.
It's all because of the January drought. People are still waiting for the games that they want, thus they're bored, and shitting up on Destiny is the solution to that problem because there will always be someone who will react to it.
My opinion of Destiny has dropped significantly over the past few months, to the point where I don't even play it anymore, but at least I respect the 30 odd million people who still play it enough not to shit on them every second.
The Order 1886 OT: "I'm Lycan what they're hatin"
I EDITED.sorry

Is it safe to post here if you are avoiding spoilers? I ignored it at first but most of the discussion is on length or so. (im curious with the title change! xD) Kinda want to read what ya'll talking about without seeing new pics/gifs of new gameplay!

Please. It has nothing to do with the January drought. Destiny hate hit critical mass months ago, now I just ignore it. 1886 seems to be the next game to hate and people are seemingly frothing at the mouth to do so. The game has been shit on for months and its entering dog pile territory as of late.
Destiny was multi-console, so probably not.
In this thread, people forget that we can pull up their ban records on a whim
You ain't fooling anybody
Govern yourselves accordingly

msdstc said:This whole discussion doesn't pertain to where the order is at now, I just think it's funny watching it unfold, and when I see something like what the guy was claiming (6-8 hour thing), I feel the need to point it out. I mean hell if a game is 65/35 cutscene to gameplay, it's going to have to be around 12 hours to have a passable amount of gameplay in it, and that's a stretch even. Also it shows hypocrisy in that we're passing impressions in the thread off as fact, which a lot of them have not finished the game, and yet we claim to KNOW that they're true. I'm not saying I don't believe them, I do, but prior to a release you will see conflicting impressions across the board in cases like this.
OT's of a game were hard-ruled in to going up a day in the advance so we could have discussion and what not around the time of release...this feels dangerously like a OT thread of ye ol' times.
Oh my lord, are you still going on about this? Let it go.
It's pretty clear from impressions in this thread that the game is not 65/35. Yet you keep going with this hypothetical.
Give me a break, it's been getting more and more positive which is a good thing. This game was getting a TON of hate back at e3 2014 with that on rails lycan scene they showed at e3. There is no agenda to go hating on popular or big titles coming out.
This is exactly what I'm talking about and btw that's false. Destiny threads were "crapped up" a ton, and the game still has a very divisive fan base. People would talk about the game not grabbing them and it wasn't because they were trying to destroy a console, it was because they weren't understanding why it was so hyped.
you're not even reading my posts.
Yo wtf is going on here lol???
Sorry but you have a agenda when you drive by shitpost. (not talking about you) You can criticize the game without shitty movie jokes that have been told hundreds of times (lol i will watch it on youtube ect.) I cant blame people for being skeptical and cynical about the game because what the game showed back that was not very good. But the shit posts have gotten unbearable.
Oh trust me, I am. They don't make a fucking luck of sense.
I'm done shitting up the thread with this argument. This is my final post on it or at least I will TRY my best to pull myself away from it and all the misunderstanding in regards to what I'm discussing here.
- I think the console warriors on both sides are ridiculous
- the snap reactions need to settle down towards anybody who has "concern" over the game. I'm anxious to see the scores of this game, i want RAD to thrive in the console environment, I want a nice new IP for this generation, but I'm not convinced yet
- I think the hypocrisy is funny I pointed it out that's all.
I don't believe the rumors, I'm curious about the impressions, which not all are glowing so far btw, and I'm excited to get my hands on the finished project
There's no air of superiority. I was explaining to you something that companies focus on. Companies exploit this kind of behaviour to varying degrees. Loyalties don't stem from marketing alone, but more extreme cases aren't what you'd call sensible. Ignoring this for a moment since I don't want to go in-depth with marketing nonsense for a second. Let's keep it simple. You grew up with Playstation, so naturally you're fond of it. You mention you had an arrogant and snide picture of the Xbox brand due to how others were seemingly attacking the PS3 (and due to your existing opinion about Microsoft), but at the same time, SCE wasn't above that kind of rhetoric at times either. It's not like they put their best foot forward leading into the PS3, so I don't really see how it'd be hard to understand that shift. Why do you remember the Xbox moments in particular that painted such a picture for you? Why don't you remember the Playstation moments? Even if they may not have happened in 2008 around the launch of MGS4, they happened shortly prior. You see, it's this slight air of superiority I don't like when people explain their neutrality. Not all personal loyalties stem from falling prey to marketing and being sheepish. I grew up in a place with no marketing whatsoever (yay communism!) and the only reason today I side with PlayStation is because A) I found my first gaming memories on that particular console, and B) because of my aversion to Microsoft as a corporate entity. I jumped back into the gaming scene big time when MGS4 was announced, and for the life of me I could not understand the deep rooted vitriol being directed at PlayStation for Blu-ray, HDMI, the relatively steep price, few games (the only complaint I understood). Microsoft had Sony on PR blast talking mad shit about their choices on a total smear campaign, and even though I had wanted an X360 for Gears of War and COD2, I just had this arrogant/snide picture of the Xbox brand ingrained in my mind. I ended up getting a PS3 when MGS4 launched.
People love to set themselves up as impartial, and being too smart to get caught in the commerical media brain-washing machine like "those fanboys". But truth is, back in the day, gaming sites, the press, they all ate that shit up for clicks. It's part of human nature, and no one is above it. No matter how smart you are. Taking sides is in our system.

The Order is love...
Can we start talking about the game again? Rapier how do you feel about the narrative in your second play through?
I'm done shitting up the thread with this argument.
