Yup, it'll have some. Nothing new for a FF, though, if you think about FFVII/VIII/IX's Uncharted-like playable FMV scenes where stuff was exploding left and right while the characters jumped and climbed around^^
Seemed like they were saying that set pieces were in place of FMVs this time around. If so then fine by me.

I think downgrade analysis is fine, don't think people should be attacked for that. It's just a question whether or not you can link that to the full game or not and if people really don't want to buy a game because there's less grass, they're free to do that.

I'm just really hyped to play the game. I've want to enjoy a main FF to the full since forever and FF has let me down in gameplay, because I'm just not such a fan of turn based games. So XV being real time action RPG(?), means I should be able to enjoy it to the full and been liking everything I've seen of it so far and I like being immersed in games for story, so definitely looking forward to it.

Yep, after seeing the new scans (the one with Behemoth in the form of wanted poster+hunt reward ), I'm inclined to believe there will be some type of rare/secret monster hunting quests ala FFXII.

Finally got round to ordering type-0 now it's a reasonable enough £32. Can't wait to get me some of this demo.

Can't believe it is only a month away, hopefully the game comes in March next year as that seems to be squares favourite month to relase big stuff

I don't know what open world means any more. Some people think that open world means completely seamless areas (i.e not loading) which is just a technical aspect in my view.

When I say open world,I mean a game where the player mostly steers the game's progression as they desire, regardless of whether there's loading or not.

Lightning returns, for example, is pretty much the only FF game where you can progress to the end game in almost any order or fashion you like.

I don't think FFXV will have non linear progression like that because of the story ,but I think it will end up being the single largest FF world and probably towards the end you'll get to do whatever you want or travel any where in the world.

I think FFXV will probably have the best world in the series and the most exploration ,but the story will surely be linear(which is important to have a good story)

EDIT :For all intents and purposes,it will be a big, large world with tons of exploration."Open world" labels be damned.

My prediction is this game will have a GTA style open world. So to continue the main story progression you go to certain points on the map, whereas outside of that main progression you can drive around/explore the map and do your own thing, level up etc.

That's basically how FFXII worked. Once you got through the opening couple of hours, you could travel anywhere that was open (often including places you likely weren't ready to face), but still had to do a particular thing, talk to a particular person, etc in order to move the story forward.

Didn't they say that the story would be changed for demo purposes?

A non canon demo, thats cray.

The demo for Xenogears had Bart and Elly join you at the beginning of the story and explicitly breaking the fourth wall by saying that they're joining earlier than they're supposed to. Same goes for Kid and Glenn in the (Japan-exclusive) demo for Chrono Cross.

Oh man, that looks so much like a FFXII poster. I hope it's as fun as Marks, they actually managed to make something challenging and fun with the combat system in that game, so I have high hopes for this too.

I don't like the idea of an FF game without jaw-dropping cinematics. That's not right.

Nowadays I don't like them too much anymore. The differences in fidelity and even the character model designs themselves are often too jarring.
I really like those seamless cutscenes where the gameplay camera transitions into the cinematic one (MGS4 intro, GTAV, UC, etc.). I'd be fine with just three, four longer mind-blowing FMVs during some important key events. That beautiful 2011 trailer CG scene with Noctis in the car is hopefully in. I love that one so much.

This is shaping up to be the grassiest gaming experience of the century. My Noctis wont do anything else than frolick in the grass with his band of chumps.

How can you enjoy a walk in the fields with your friends whent leaves don't even casts shadows?

edit: btw from the scans you can see that Jump is in fact a spear skill (duh), i guess what's showed is the landing moment. Also another scene where the party is running and in front of them a yellow glow of some sort, like a landmark. Ugh, i hope this isn't another proof of excessive filler quests.

Lighting Returns had a nice Jump move (fast, and effective). It let you hit heads of enemies, which would instantly stagger most of them.

Looking forward to seeing how it works in this game.

I'm conflicted. I will only buy two games in the next couple of months and I'm struggling between The Order:1886, Bloodborne and FF Type 0 (dat demo).

Bloodborne for sure I will buy. Now it's between The Order and the FF XV demo!! Ugh...

I'm going to be surprised by the quality of Type 0, ain't I?

At least the marker seem to be leading you to the middle of nowhere.

So maybe it just points the general area?

Anyway, I suppose we will get the generic stuff after all (Type-0 did have them, I guess).

Do we know if this game will have a license board, crystarium or sphere grid type leveling system?

So far, no. The only thing showed is the camping menu and those only had your normal levels with bars at the side to tell you how far 'til you level up.

Although, they did talk about skills being tied to weapons, so maybe it's not only the typical leveling...? >.>

idk. But so far it doesn't look like there is.

You don't have to worry, they are pushing even more the cinematic feeling with uncharted-like setpieces while keeping those open huge open areas when there's "normal" gameplay.

(Ok you're talking about the CGs, this time there's almost no gap, post processing, effects and that is, they will still do things that the engine can't i bet!)

I hope the overall skill system will revolve around weapons (a la FFIX), since they seems to be the main draw of the customization aspect.

Final Fantasy XV description from the german PS-site: (Thanks @GermanFFBlog for sharing)

Talking about Noctis and the gang. Poor Cor.

Good, i hope everybody outside of Noctis gets proper character developement, instead of just escorting the main character.
