Kid share plays Destiny to stranger...

I don't need to know much else. Making your kid feel stupid, your words, for lending their friend borrow it is shitty parenting. I didn't say they were shitty parents. I said that is an act of shitty parenting. Every parent is guilty of shitty parenting because parents are human and make mistakes. if there is a "Big Book of Parenting" and it said "Make your kid feel like an idiot if he loses his expensive toy by letting his friend borrow it", I'd say that's some shitty parenting advice.

While wildly off tangent from the topic its interesting to see the parenting styles discussed here. My parents were immigrants and I was an idiotic kid growing up, losing stuff constantly or getting it taken by bullies. Every time I would get long, long lectures on how hard they worked to buy those things and how disappointed they were in how careless I was with the items. It really seared into my mind the value of things.

On the flip side with my own kids I coddle them way, way too much but thats probably society today, I never see any kid being spanked or even yelled at and that was a thing everyone did when I was growing up. While I don't know for a fact I suspect immigrant and poorer families definitely have a different style of parenting when it comes to trust, charity, and losing things than affluent families.

I "stole" my 8 years old bike one day because she kept living it near the stars without the lock on it. I let her think that thing was stolen for like a week before I let her in on it. She hasn't done it since. I am a monster.

and when you were 11 your concept of right and wrong was super developed? And you understood everything? the world?

Absolutely not! There hasn't been a lesson I learned, that I didn't learn the hard way.

That kid could have been me, if there was internet when I was a kid.

In a way, he's kind of lucky that was the way he learned(assuming he did) to be wary of strangers. In my day, he would have ended up face down in a ravine.

Like I previously said, I haven't played Destiny, so I don't know all the details about the game, but in other MMO's, cheating can have an adverse effect on the game. It can give players and edge in PVP(if the game has it), destabilize in game economy(if the game has it), but mostly boils down to just right and wrong.
It's been stated multiple times that all of these exploits do nothing but save the player time. There is no economy being broken. There is no imbalance in PvP. It's no different than crafting daggers all day in Skyrik so you can quickly craft the best armor.

So who is this victim nobody is noticing? Who am I failing to perceive? If there is truly no victim, then it isn't cheating.

Of course it is cheating, you are cheating the system. And I don't know if those levels also have an effect of the PVP aspect of the game, but I think so.

Which means you need less time to get better gear.

Not that I think he is wrong for doing so, or that he in any way deserved this, but it is cheating.

They mean nothing in PvP. Why do so many people who haven't played Destiny insist to tell others that this is cheating? These exploits do nothing but let you get to the actual gear grind faster and make the challenges easier. Who cares if you beat level 122 in Generic Game X using an exploit. WHO CARES?!

Yes, I watched the entire video, and I still don't understand how that makes my statement incorrect. If he didn't attempt to cheat, his characters would still be intact.

It's not rocket science...

And If Michael Brown hadn't robbed that store, he'd still be alive! It's not rocket science!

Sounds like a great way to build trust.

You can tell who hasn't played Destiny by when they start to make MMO hacks or exploits comparisons as if they relate to Destiny exploits in any way.

If you don't want your parenting to be critiqued, I'm confused why you posted it. I don't find that parenting particularly bad or anything, but you're not really in a position to tell people to go away. So saying it does nothing. Were you giving your parenting techniques expecting an echo chamber of positive feedback?

It feels unfair to people that they have to do more effort if they play the game the way it is meant compared to someone else that cheats. It makes them value their effort less if other players achieve the same thing with a simple cheat.

I don't care in this case, but it is cheating. You can even cheat in games that are played without any interaction with other players. For one I know my uncle cheats when he is playing Patience with cards.

Why do you talk to me so much, honest question?

Yep. The majority of the Destiny community would be banned if Bungie would crack down on glitching (or doing things you're not 'supposed' to do).

And this 'cheat' doesn't even exist...

I have mentioned that I haven't played it, but I was under the impression that it was a MMO. If it isn't, then ya, I've been wasting my breath

Destiny is a game where you can play the game for a thousand hours and never get the weapon you always wanted or play for 1 hour and get exactly what you wanted. Nobody in Destiny feels cheated by exploiters. They feel cheated by shitty RNG rolls.

Also, everybody in Destiny exploits.

(Sorry about that huge GIF; I thought it was loading just fine on my iPad beforehand until I realized it was being converted into a much more efficient GIFV.)

There's lots of things to say are Anti-consumer, glitch abusing is not one of them.

I think you just shot yourself in the foot... Nobody is saying glitch abusing is anti consumer. Blaming the consumer for it is. The only party which is to blame is the company when there is a glitch.
Do you people really not know what the difference is between a glitch and a cheat? It is quite annoying to argue with people who don't even know the meaning of the words they are using.

With that particular post, I was honestly confused why you posted your parenting if you don't appreciate it being criticized. It's clear you think kids/parenting isn't something you want to strangers about online, so talking about seemed counterproductive.

I'm not really talking to you particularly. It's 2:30 in the morning and I can't seem to sleep this evening. I'm just responding to posts I find worth responding to.

Eh, he's a kid, so he has all the free time in the world. He'll level up again in no time.
Seriously this thread is hilarious. 'Have you no compassion?!!?'

Everyones had a save file deleted accidentally(or on purpose) you get over it pretty fast.. Id only feel bad for the kid is if he spent alot on in-game purchases.

My argument isn't meant for only weapon rolls. You get other benefits with higher levels.

That said, I am going to assume that the chances for better weapons are higher on higher levels. Certainly if you have dungeons with special loot locked to a certain level limit.

Some players have gone through the grind to be able to get those weapons, and value their effort much less when someone else cheats the system and is able to easily get to the same point they are with less effort.

Can we agree that because you haven't played Destiny and I have played Destiny that I am in a position to properly judge how much of a problem these exploits are?

They mean nothing. The drop rates in Destiny are shit everywhere. Getting to level 31 will take up maybe 5% of your pkaytime of Destiny if you are trying to earn loot. Nobody cares about people somehow finding some way to get to level 31. It would just mean they skipped some boring time level grinding. It's like figuring out how to skip a stupidly long tutorial part of a video game that everybody hates is mandatory.

Submitted a grief report against Kirmitthefrog, who has a level 33 trophy account. So I hope the troll gets trolled, when Sony ban that account. Hopefully he has to restart his trophies over.
