Kid share plays Destiny to stranger...

I feel bad for the kid, but you don't ever share with people you don't know. I know what its like to lose all progress like that but its never not been my fault.

So many sickos out there that sees it fit to judge a minor for lacking foresight. I guess now a days we expect even that much from children age 10 and below.
I can't even begin to understand how some of the adults in the community think that causing emotional distress to a minor is appropriate for teaching them a lesson or even worse see it as entertaining.
He simply allowed a PSN friend to "SharePlay", shareplay operated as designed, however this Kermit character decided to pray upon a defenseless youth through deception aimed at a minor and deleted most his hard work.
There is no lesson to learn here other than shareplay is flawed by design and Sony will have to remove it or patch it ASAP, because apparently to some if you share play and lose your progress through malicious users its your own damn fault, you the victim brought this upon yourself.
I don't think everyone was saying this kid deserved to have it happen to him. A lot of people, including myself, believe that it was a valuable lesson for the kid to learn. They're not necessarily condoning the actions of the guy who deleted the kid's stuff either.

Lol you make a swell point my friend. Just want to bring some reason back in to the conversation. if he punched the kid, yeah, that's not good. If he smushed the kids GI Joe in a vice grip, I don't reAlly care. SmH

The reasonable thing would be this. The 38 year old adult, realizing he's about to do something really shitty to a little kid, instead of the 15+ year old he was expecting, stops what he's doing, acts like an adult and says, "Hey kid, 2 things. Cheating and glitching the game to get ahead is not right, and you could be banned. Also, I'm an almost 40 year old dude and you just gave me access to your console. You're far too trusting. Be more cautious and don't cheat. Next guy might not be so nice."

That's kinda sad. I don't know how bad what he was trying to do was, but if someone screwed up my stuff like that I'd probably just quit playing the game for good. Like when my GTA5 save got corrupt about 75% of the way through. Eff that, I'm not putting all those hours in again, on to something else.

Doing a stream right know go away.

Haha, I get it, you're pointing out how an 11 year old doesn't have a full grasp of grammar. I bet that feels good.

From my understanding what he was convinced of doing isn't actually possible. There is no known exploit that allows you to just go from twenty something to thirty. He was just tricked into believing it.

That's slightly more comparable. I remember crying when I accidentally deleted my nearly completed Kingdom Hearts save in first grade. It sucked and I got over it. This is digital content. The only thing this kid lost was his time. In a few years, he's going to think back about all of this and cringe at how dumb he was.

I think there is a difference between doing something yourself as an accident or having a memory card malfunction than there is being cyber bullied - especially when it's a grown man vs an 11 year old kid. There's more of a mental strain when someone does something hostile towards you than a piece of hardware crapping out on you.

Must be tough being all alone atop that hill of moral
superiority.

Edit: fixed word

Jesus, GAF. This whole "it was a good lesson!" mentality is literally batshit psychotic. One can justify essentially any crime or wrongdoing as "I was teaching him a lesson so OTHER criminals/assholes won't take advantage of him!" Half of you in this thread reek of victim blaming arguments that are absurd on so many levels I'd almost think you wish you were the one that ruined his account.

Also, I can only imagine those that are claiming "well he was trying to exploit the game, karma" have never actually played Destiny. For nearly every single Raid or Weekly strike I've played with others in Destiny the group has always used exploits or design flaws when available. I would estimate that the vast majority of the Destiny population has gladly used, and still use, cheesing strategies for as much of the end-game content as they can.

The only moral of this story is that the guy who deleted his characters is a complete and utter asshole, without reservation.

You don't think so?

I feel bad for him no doubt, but wow i was laughing uncontrollably for like a good 5 minutes.

That's hilarious. I don't feel bad for him at all.

Also did he post that on his mom's youtube? lol

Cheater got owned.

Glitches get stitches

it would seem that a lesson was learned

This was equal parts tragic and funny.

Well, that's one way to learn a lesson. Damn.

And this is just the first two pages........

Didn't think GAF was so heartless. This is absolute nonsense.

People are siding with the guy who did it, who post shit like this!

Yep keep serving up Justice. Stay Classy.

I've done something much more inline with that this kid did right around the same age too. Immediately after it happened, I realized I only had myself to blame. I thought the person who did it was a jerk. Ultimately, it was still my fault.

No I am pointing out the ridiculousness of an 11 year old who doesn't have full grasp of grammar to be playing a Teen rated MMO and expecting some sort of safety net.

I work for M$ marketing! Hi!
The last 5 minutes of this video is heart breaking. The kid try's to put on a brave face but inside is being ripped apart. :(

Some of those quotes are not like the others.

#1 People find it funny
#2 Some feel that it was justice served since he was looking for a glitch/exploit (WHEN NONE EVEN OCCURRED)

This is a child! I If you are a child making these comments then I guess whatever, but I'm assuming most people here are adults.

No. Heartbreaking is a 3 year old freezing to death in the winter cold. This is shitty, yes. But nowhere near heartbreaking.

What does his grasp of grammar have anything to do with it though? What does the rating of a game have anything to do with a safety net?

The age difference here doesn't make me think that this is any more or less of a dick move than if there was no age difference. I think you guys are grossly underestimating the intelligence of kids that age.

If he was like 6, I'd agree with you, but 11 is plenty old enough to know better. If this story had been told without specifying which person was 11 and which was 38, I would have guessed that it was the kid who deleted the older guy's characters. That's the kind of shit I did when I was around that age

commish

Jason Kidd murdered my dog in cold blood!
anybody else think it was fake? why would he not delete the third character and instead a gun?

It's the first thing I thought of. "Who would believe this was real?" Then I read this thread. The whole "glitching from 23 to 31" or whatever doesn't even make any sort of sense if you've ever played destiny.

When I was 11 and curiously stuck a fork in the socket and got shocked, I learned never to do that again.

Im not saying that all kids need hard lessons and that we need to drop coddling; but what has been done, has been done.

Im saying that kid is going to learn a good lesson from this and will look back and laugh about this when he is older and realizes that its JUST A GAME and he got trolled good.

Exactly, the minor was deceived into believing a constructed lie by an adult. This shit dont get more sick than that.
If i were Sony and Bungie i would be forwarding emails to the local police department with the identity of this Kermit fella. Just to be safe, we have no idea what this person would do to a minor if he came in physical contact with one. The Police need to pay them a visit and make sure all their bolts are not loose.

Did the light socket promise you an increase in electric power and encourage you to stick the fork in there?

That's what you would hope for. Unfortunately now it seems you hear more and more stories of kids committing suicide over "small" things.
