Ok, so you tell me how I would have known that. I'm not a mind reader man. I can't possibly know if he read it before or after I submitted the edit. Also, the version he quoted had the correct wording. So when he read it, it was worded correctly.
This is why I don't like multiplayer, so many whiners. The kid got played, but the guy that deleted his characters din't hack the game or on anything, why are people asking for him to be banned? Bungie will likely get the characters back anyway.
His character got delete so what? If this was my kid I'd be much more concerned as to why hes streaming on the internet at his age.
He's an 11 year old child. Really think about that. Hes 11. What consequences should there really be? If Bungie is able they should give him back his stuff. If not then ok the kid lost out. Regardless the child already learned his lesson in that moment of heart break.

You're not alone.
That person should be banned just for being a horrible person. Their comments are absolutely disgusting. Every game is better off without them.
GAF still trying to reach new lows. Y'all must be willfully TRYING to ignore the history of the player/reddit user who deleted his characters, as well as his own mother, but whatever.

I'm not aware of any comment, I was referring to the action of deleting the character.

Use your head. I'm certainly not saying that. It is possible to feel empathy for the child while at the same time recognizing the situation as a teaching opportunity. This shit isn't binary.I can just imagine the 'lesson learned' crowd seeing their five year-old kid falling over in the street and them dragging them back up screaming "Lesson learned, gravity bitch!!".
if it's a hobby of his and he's 11, of course he's going to be upset. The games only rated T for teen, 11 isn't that bad for a mature kid to play a T rated game, this is like a pg13 movie, I saw plenty of them before I was 13.
The issue of streaming on the internet, is related to other assholes, and that's one of the points of this thread. The fact that you have to protect children from other people on the internet is the sad reality....
Also when I was looking up the ESRB rating , I found the description kind of funny
"Rating Summary: This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a warrior tasked with defending a city from hostile alien forces. Players explore ruins across the solar system, acquire various relics, and battle insect- and robot-like aliens. Characters use pistols, shotguns, rocket launchers, and special powers (e.g., telekinesis, blasts of energy) to kill enemies. Enemies can also be dispatched up close via hand-to-hand combat and knife stabs. Combat is highlighted by cries of pain and realistic gunfire. Some aliens emit splashes of white or black liquid when shot.
I read OP and the GI article and watched the video, do I need a degree in this guy personal life to be allowed to post here?Yeah you are not aware of much of anything, you come in here posting without reading a damn thing.
Your analogy is disruptive to the argument. You disagree with what you're saying, you are tied into defending pedophilia.Since neither you or Parent of the Year n0razi can seem to follow a basic analogy, my point is that blaming the kid or his parent in this instance is rather abhorrent when the other side of the blame game is some 38 year old man who spends his time targetting kids to make them miserable. I honestly don't know how fucked up your brain has to be to put the blame on the victim here, especially a child.

As you can see at the end of the video, Henry boldly confronts his malefactors immediately after the incident. He doesn't resort to foul language. He treats them with civility. His mother tells us that this is a valuable lesson for Henry and others.
"I think this is a great opportunity to reiterate to the gaming community about the importance of not trusting anyone online, even if you think they are your friends," Kramer says. "Protect your hard work by being cautious. As Henry’s parents, we are constantly reminding him of this, to be careful, never share your personal information, always be on the lookout. But the truth is, no matter how many times a parent says this to a kid, when you’re in the actual situation, it’s easier to trust people you think are your friends because someone you actually know in real life vouches for them."
Henry's mother tells us that one of the members of the young man's clan invited KirmitTHEfrog and another person into a party. They played together for a while, and it was after earning his trust on February 13, that the events of the video below unfolded.

Doesn't Sony ask for the developer permission to make it available for their game? It's got nothing to do with game design. It's the shareplay feature which is like handing over the controller to someone.

Its obvious something like this would be abused.
Yea, if I was 11, I might have cried too. I cried out of frustration when I couldn't beat games, cried when my Genesis froze on the last level of Sonic, etc. The point is, I'm not 11 anymore. I'm completely okay looking back at that time now and say "Yea, crying over THAT was pretty effin stupid."The crying at the end really gets to me. At 11, sh*t like this really hits hard - don't pretend like it wouldn't have affected you in the same way. I remember when I accidentally deleted my 100% completion of Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles. I was devastated.

The kid's fine.

I think the dev has to be ok with it. Yeah, the feature can be abused but getting rid of it because of that would be dumb. A warning to be careful about who you share with (and examples like this) should be enough.
The comparisons to attempted kidnappings and kids getting shot trying to buy drugs are doing nothing for the crowd here completely on the side of the kid. Appealing to emotions using comparisons is a tricky argumentative tactic but only works when you keep the severity the same. He had two video game characters deleted, that's it. He wasn't harassed in any way in real life, was never placed in any danger, had no real world information stolen, etc. Those comparisons are seriously crazy, I'm waiting for someone to work Godwin's law into this just to complete the circle.
The adult here is an asshole, absolutely, but asking for his head over it? Eh. There is plenty of area in the middle between choosing one side over the other, and I feel some of the people here are conflating those thinking it's not a big deal with agreeing that the kid deserved it or something.
If you want to wear big boy pants and play online, ya gotta put on big boy pants and take responsibility for your actions.
I can just imagine the 'lesson learned' crowd seeing their five year-old kid falling over in the street and them dragging them back up screaming "Lesson learned, gravity bitch!!".
When all those videogame sites wrote articles about how "gamer culture" is a pile of shit that should die, I used to think they were wrong.
This thread, and people like you, have made me see the light.
I feel nothing - he was trying to mess with the "system" by trusting and giving controll to a stranger.
Next step - fake college papers, paying for them and being busted plus the loss of money. (that escalatedquickly blahblah)
His lesson was learned. And the other person is hearthless.

This kid learned one of the safest lessons he could about trusting strangers on the internet. I'm glad it was this way and not something more harming.
Following with the trends of extreme analogies, I have one. I see a hitchhiker on the side of the road. I stop, chat with him a bit and he seems like a cool guy so I let him into my car. He knows this gas station with the best taquitos. That sounds great so we swing by the gas station. I get out and take my keys with me but he says he'll wait it out in the car. No big deal, we're bros now. I get back and catch him pissing all over my seats. Why? Just because he felt like being an asshat. I'd be upset, I'd call him a raging dicknozzle.
Did I deserve it? No.
Is the guy a jerk? Yes.
Am I ever going to pick up a hitchhiker ever again? God no.
After all of this, would anyone expect the car company to buy me new seats especially brand new handmade italian leather ones?
What's wrong with 500 hours since September exactly? Keep in mind that is time logged in, not necessarily playing. After checking into the players involved, I'm honestly not sure who I should feel worse for in this situation:
The 11-year old kid who got his characters deleted by a 38-year old man.
or
The 38-year old man who has logged well over 500 hours into this game across his 3 characters.
"For the lolz" is the worst part of internet culture and seems to be the defacto justification for so much bullying and dickish and worse behavior, and yeah, this thread has bummed me out a bit too because its to be found here as well.I don't know, this prank, gamergate, the comments on this and other forums of "LOL" and "he deserves it" make me seriously question the modern gamer crowd. Maybe it's just typical teenager ignorance, 20-something selfishness, or maybe it's just a broader picture of humanity but that someone would do this to a child and you trolls would laugh or laud it, makes me immensely sad.
That kermitthenfrog should be banned , send his account to Oblivion because otherwise people like him will attempt similar stuff since there is not punishment for that kind of low immature behavior.
