Kid share plays Destiny to stranger...

Well, after everything that went down in the OP, his mother uploaded it to YouTube just to really highlight what happened. Bungie themselves also linked to it, it then went to Reddit and beyond.

Now, a ton of people included a clan of dads, have offered to help the kids d get back to where he was. The news has now gone to sites like GameSpot and Business Insider with warnings about game sharing.

As far as the dipshit who did this, well...nothing has been done so far as far as I'm aware.

People in the Destiny OT were saying that the person who did it is a 38 y/o man who has been banned from PSN. And they said the 11 y/o kid was given fate of all fools by Bungie. All based on people reading Bungies forums I guess... Is any of that true?

No idea man, cool if true though.

EDIT: I am told that he may have turned on his privacy settings. Anyway to confirm?

OMG. Just checked his PSN ID and it looks like he is indeed banned. He used to be Level 33 with 126 plats, now he has zero:

Great job Sony. Helluva job. Let this send a message to those wanting to get malicious on share play.

Unfortunately so far as I can tell, that's because he put his shit on lockdown, NOT a ban. Hope he does get banned, but just wanted you to know I think he just set his trophy data and info sharing to private.

Good move. Just read this story, and that's a real dickhole move from an adult human being. Good riddance to this guy.

No idea man, cool if true though.

So the facts are this, he's 23, his name is Aaron, he goes by Kirmitthefrog on psn and kirmit101 on skype. He didn't yet get banned from Destiny or PSN, and is actively playing Destiny for hours a day. Also, the kid, Henry, did NOT, and will NOT be getting anything, his is only to be a cautionary tale.

Ahh bummer. I thought for sure he got axed. Well I'm sure the heat is on him if he's going off the grid like that.

I mean, yeah - look around you. Whether or not it's "right" the community has certainly decided it's not alright to let it slide. I hope Bungie themselves make an example of him to avoid potential future issues with him, and to show others there are real consequences, even if only in game, for this sort of behavior. Sony stepping up would be awesome, but I have much less faith in them saying no to what is likely a 23 year old pouring his monthly earnings into Sonys pockets.

Thought he was 38? Where'd this new info come from?

People saying he shouldn't have tried to cheat obviously haven't watched the full video. If you listen, he joins a chat with this Kirmit guy and you can clearly hear him surprised about some glitch that was he was just informed about, had no idea what it was, and simply wanted this guy to try it on his game so he could then share it with his twitch viewers.

The kid didn't care about skipping levels, he'd obviously done it properly twice. He wanted to help other people out through this so called glitcher.

Kid just got duped.

Even if he wanted to cheat in the game it doesn't matter. He's just a kid

Could he have changed his privacy settings?

Yeah, the kirmit dude just turned on his privacy settings. He is definitely not banned as of now.

he's on his reddit trying to defend the vile deed

http://www.reddit.com/user/Buzzgoku

Interestingly, reading the reddit profile, that's supposedly not actually kirmit. It's AztecStrikerS13, who you can also see in the video. He's taking credit for deleting the account, but the video makes it look like kirmit, so not sure if he's lying.

Just as a reminder for everyone, this cheat/glitch doesn't actually exist.

I don't know if this Goku guy on Reddit is Kirmit, but two hours ago he said this: My account won't get banned. What, you think Sony looks at /r/ps4 comments? Fuck off, inbred.

So he probably changed his privacy settings, not banned yet.

Sweet sweet karma.

Um, the last posters realize he wasn't banned, right? That he just put his profile on private (It's already been discussed on this same page).

I am going to be disappointed though maybe not surprised sadly if Sony doesn't ban him though. The cynic in me says Sony just isn't going to care. I also suspect if this was MS they wouldn't care until the PR got big and would at least respond cause the PR had gotten loud enough (but that neither company would really care unless forced and I just get the feeling Sony isn't even going to care then).

While it's a scumbag thing to do, why would he get banned for it? Did he break Sony's TOS or something?

From this website listing terms of service (http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/terms-of-service/) here's the thing I see that he violated:

You may not engage in deceptive or misleading practices.
You may not abuse or harass others, including stalking behavior.
You may not cause disruption to or modify or damage any account, system, hardware, software, or network connected to or provided by SEN for any reason, including for the purpose of gaining an unfair advantage in a game.

So yes, there are a few he could have considered to have broke. And those were put in there specifically so that Sony has leeway to ban people for this kind of thing (Trolling). Yes, some are vague on purpose (so that Sony has that leeway to apply it to unforeseen ways people might abuse their system). And they really should excercise it in this case. Even if they don't care, this makes a prime feature of their platform look bad. Look how many people are using this as an example of why you shouldn't use Shareplay, why it's a bad feature, or even why it shouldn't be allowed.

Yeah, what's up with that? The video clearly indicate it was the Kirmit guy who did it. I thought the Aztec guy was just the one who fooled the kid into trusting Kirmit.

I do wonder why Sony don't do anything.

With one quick move they could reinforce their anti harrasment policy and promote the positives of share play.

I don't necessarily think Kirmit should be banned quite honestly. What he did was fucken shit but the kid literally handed over the means to do so to him. The kid should count himself lucky that the community is rallying around him to help him get his stuff back. Talk of giving him fate of all fools etc is fucking stupid, why should he be rewarded for being fucking stupid, not to mention the fact that he would learn nothing from the experience.

He's a kid...how do people not understand this???

I think a PSN ban in total is far too much for this, It was someone's save data in a game, someone doesn't deserve to lose hundreds if not thousands in digital purchases over it

He absolutely deserves to lose it all for being a sadist. Someone that enjoys other people's pain deserve whatever consequences they receive.

Its save data in one game that the other person allowed him to access.

EDIT: I'm not saying don't punish him, just don't ban his entire account, just remove his shareplay access or ban his Destiny account

What a scumbag. I know the kid was trying to exploit the game but that does not warrant such practices.
Hopefully he gets what he deserves.

Agreed; I would be more than satisfied with him simply getting his characters on Destiny wiped. The guy is a dick and a disgusting person, but our distaste for him doesn't justify a disproportional punishment.

Save data that he fraudulently gained access to. The kid might have given him access, and Sony may have provided the service which enabled him to have access, but he lied in order to gain that access.

Yeah, I'd go with this. The deed was done in Destiny, so should his punishment be, not trophies for his other games or anything like that. I don't think I could be talked into banning him from Destiny altogether, though.

I also don't know how I feel about the kid getting his characters back either, however, but I'm probably enough of a sociopath to think like that.

If Sony don't take action in this case, it'll be a clear sign to trolls of every description that they can do whatever they like so long as it doesn't take money out of their pockets. It'll also look really bad when it comes to promoting Shareplay in the future.

From what I know of Sony customer service, they will do absolutely nothing unless they have their arm twisted by the media.

EDIT: And on that note, I've fired this story at Eurogamer. Will be interesting to see if they pick it up.
EDIT2: I can't claim any credit, EG were already on the case. Should be something up in the next few days. (I guess trying to get a response back from Sony & Bungie)

Well that's that then. The person needs to be punished. Thanks for enlightening me.
