If you look closely, you see the two paired couples's children have swapped hair colors and styles (Yamato/Sora and Ken/Miyako). Now take a look at Hikari's and Takeru's children.

02 canon in Tri fine, that is the right way to go, but I never interpreted the ending as TkxKari not happening. I think they intentionally left it ambiguous for reasons I already stated.

I don't feel like Googling this because for some reason this stuff is hard to Google, but I think I remember a Japanese Adventure couple popularity poll and Takari was at the top.

It sucks for the folks that are learning about this now. I was certainly stunned when I first heard/saw the ending back in the day, not going to lie.

the "signs" of takari (or probably tai/sora you mean right?) passed the 02 ending? maybe I need to go back and look at it again.
I rewatched 01 on netflix last winter, maybe I should rewatch 02 if it's on there now. I don't remember caring that much about 02's ending when I was watching it as a kid, but maybe if I watch it now I'll see why it's as sucky as y'all are suggesting.

I like to think that once Taichi had his heart crushed over losing Sora to Yamato that Hikari and Takeru made the mistake of talking about it, TK stuck up for his brother and she resented him for doing so.
So effectively Matt+Sora destroyed both Tai+Sora AND Kari+TK.

Digimon is so niche nowadays that finding any sort of definitive evidence for anything takes a lot of patience. I pride myself on my ability to wade though bad fanart and made-up facts to find translated interviews from 2002, lol.
I hope you like it, it's definitely one of my favorite game series'. And Neko Shogun's the cutest and good for a boss in Persona 4. For some reason, I got attached.

It is partly responsible for killing Digimon's popularity, that's how bad it is.

It looks like she's posing "cutely".
The loss of the tail ring made her way less formidable. She's an Adult level digimon stuck with Child level abilities, without the ability to digivolve most of the season.
It's too bad because she's one of my favorites.
The only relationship no one asked for.

Ya I noticed that when I rewatched a few years back. While Matt was busy feeling sorry in some hole somewhere for himself, Izzy was helping Tai through his meltdown.

I would prefer Tai+Sora but none of my favorite characters were involved so I'm ok with it.
Oh god, we're now talking about shipping and about 02. There would be a lot of things I could say so I'll keep it as brief as I can.
1. They can always retcon things as they feel they need to while writing the show. Like they did with the crests thing. The power being inside them, then they can somehow give them up even if the crests are a part of them. Not to mention Tailmon/Gatomon trying to Digivolve just a few eps before the crests thing was even explained. (the ep when Veemon couldn't digivolve to ExVeemon). So yeah, they could retcon parts of it if they feel the need to. Hell, we'll probably end up analyzing each episode to find out if they have retcon'd or contradicted anything from the previous two series lol.
2. Daisuke/Davis is cool, the dub did ruin him a bit, made him more of an ass than he was. That said, parts of him did feel shoehorned in. Like how he became the leader because... why? He had goggles, looked like Tai, broke his goggles, got Tai's goggles and becomes the leader. Makes no sense and annoys the hell out of me.
3. Speaking of, that's why I never pair Daisuke/Davis with Hikari. Daisuke acts so much like Tai and even looks like him a bit (as we see Takeru notices that in ep 1 of 02). I doubt Hikari would go out with someone who looks like her brother even with her brother complex. (which is never really resolved after ep 13/Dark Ocean ep. I hope that is brought up in Tri).
4. While I'm speaking about 02. The episode where Daisuke is the only one to stand up to Malomyotismon/BelialVamdemon. It makes NO FREAKING SENSE why Hikari/Takeru are afraid of him. Hikari should be more than ready to fight being face to face with the Digimon that killed Wizardmon, same with Gatomon (who said nothing after identifying the shadow as Malomyotismon) and Takeru has faced him more than enough times (and both have faced worst when they were 'deleted' by Apocalymon) so why is Daisuke/Davis the only one to stand up to him?
That annoys me a lot
5. Last point I'll bring up, 02s epilogue. The bit that annoys me more than most is how Hikari is the ONLY one that didn't get a shot of them in their work (Takeru technically had one since he was writing when the jump to the epilogue happened). Even Miyako/Yolei had a shot of her being a Mother. But Hikari being a teacher was too hard to make or something? idk.
I've brought up some of these points before but I always enjoy ranting about them lol.
Also that was longer than I intended it to be >_>.
I hear it was in a Magazine but I have never actually found a source for it. Literally.

I would LOVE for you to find proof of that. If only because I tried to find out where it came from, got conflicting answers all over on google.
I haven't followed Digimon in years, but as long as TK & Kairi end up together, I'm cool with whatever other nonsense happens.
I just never saw it be questioned back in the day as a fake piece. As for where it comes from, I either figured it was some insert from an album, or possibly a V-Jump promo. Something.
