Resident Evil Revelations 2 Reviews Thread

Dusk Golem

A 21st Century Rockefeller
Hey everyone, this is Dusk Golem aka AestheticGamer. I have posted on NeoGAF since 2011, and have decided to resign. I have enjoyed posting about horror games here for years, but I no longer wish to support the site and will be leaving for good. I will still be around the internet, I go by AestheticGamer on YouTube, I make games on Steam as Yai Gameworks, and I plan to go by Dusk Golem on other forums. I'll be joining an off-set of the GAF community leaving to try other ventures like ResetEra (Official Twitter for that here: https://twitter.com/reseteraforum ). I hope some of you who read this may consider it, and I plan to try to expose more people to horror games in the years to come. Just not here.

I hope you all are having a good day, and know I always loved the community, and in the end it's the community I'm going to stick with, not the site itself. If you want to follow me, my official Twitter is here: https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1

And now we wait for the real reviews.

Obviously a trusted review source and real vocalist outlet to let people know the quality and opinions on games completely uninfluenced by marketing and name brand value.

I'm lying.

However, I posted this now as we'll be getting user impressions as the game just unlocked 2 minutes ago on PS4 and PS3. Will include some detailed user impressions and links to them here as well.

I actually love the original RE Revelations and hope this turns out good.

Still not a fan of the whole episodic thing. I'll wait till all the episodes are out before buying

I really hope the silence regarding Vita version is because it'll be released as complete edition later on.

Also...please be long.

I predict 6-8s, ultimately I don't really care though. It's a spin-off title, just nice to have some more Resident Evil.

Its important to be high quality as Resident 6 wasn't so well recieved, and Revelations got an 82, that isn't a bad score for a handheld game.

Since there's going to be a disc based release, can someone explain to me why Capcom decided to go the "episodic" route? Thanks.

My guess is a mixture of testing a market possibility for the future, plus to increase potential hype. It's an interesting way to release it, to say the least.

I still haven't finished the first RE Revelations, I'm interested to see how it reviews. Although I just want Capcom to reboot the series in the style and atmosphere of the first and second game.

If i'm being brutally honest in my prediction, I think this game is going to get wrecked by reviewers. I hope I'm wrong though. I've bought the whole season and it'll be an experience regardless.

Resident Evil 6 got wrecked by reviews and I enjoyed it so whatever. Not expecting much from this so I won't be disappointed.

The episodic thing should be beneficial to the gamers- there's no harm is dropping $6 to try the game, if you like it here's more, if you don't like it at least you'll know for sure and won't be interested in buying future episodes- no harm no foul.

Replaying Rev1 on PS3 right now and I have to say... I'm enjoying it more the second time around (played thru it first on 3DS).
Such a blissfully campy game (^___^)

Hope Rev2 follows the same mold

OK I'm confused....I paid $40 for the game on Steam and the only thing I'm interested in is Raid mode. All these comments about episodes and staggered releases in pieces has me scratching my head so here's my question....

A)Will I be able to play the *FULL* version of Raid mode when the Steam version releases this Wednesday?

B)If yes to the above, will I be able to play online coop? If not, when will the online coop part be unlocked?

The full version of Raid Mode will be available on March 20th, like the main game it is released in parts, different stages and characters get unlocked in Raid Mode as each episode comes out.

Episode 1 will release with five characters (Claire Redfield, Moria Burton, Barry Burton, Gina Foley, & Jill Valentine) and 18 stages (with three difficulty levels each). Episode 2, 3, and 4 will also add characters, with episode 2 and 3 including 12 new stages each, while episode 4 will introduce more.

On March 20th, the full content of Raid Mode will be released, that's when Wesker and HUNK will become available, the new costumes, when the Raid Mode Throwback pack will become available, etc. That's also when it's believed online will be added to Raid Mode.

So what do I miss by not pre-ordering versus waiting until everything is said and done?

At least on PC, pre-ordering the the Complete Season ($25 thing) will include the Raid Mode Throwback pack, which includes levels from previous Resident Evil games in Raid Mode (right now we only know stages from Resident Evil Revelations 1 and Resident Evil 6) for free. The Complete Pack ($40) includes the soundtrack and digital artbook.

Okay so I've bought the first episode, but I can't download it, unless the PS4 interface is being typically obscure. Is it only the 1-4 pack which is available to play now? Will I have to wait until later today? Any light shed on this will be appreciated.
