Amiibo Thread 5 | Because we didn't preorder thread 4

Count me as another who bought 2 Gold, one for trade. I hate scalpers, but buying an extra for trade I don't see a problem.

Yes, I won't deny that it does take away one sale from someone else, but as someone else indicated, that is the market now with these things, it is cut-throat (which is sad) and you are trying to do the best you can to secure your collection.

But the reason I don't have an issue with buying an extra for trade is those people are buying them to support the hobby and to get a 'different' Amiibo. Where scalpers buy extras to support...their pocket.

I am guessing that most scalpers don't even personally gives a rats ass about the amiibos, or even own a system to use them on.

Welp, I called my Gamestop. Even though they told me yesterday, when I called no go. When I called today, they told me April for Ike.

The dream is dead. I still have 1 but his box is messed up thanks to TRU.

But then who is going to want them? Well I mean obviously some of the fans, but doing that there won't be nearly as many sales nor the amiibo fever there is now. Good for the true fans, bad for the money I would argue, and the overall health of the amiibo market.
What? God forbid they produce more of them. Why would they suddenly make less money if the figure was easy to get? Sure, scalpers won't bother but fans and collectors still would let us instead have to check all line retailers at all hours of the day in hopes of being available in those 15 minutes a figure is available! That definitely makes Nintendo the most money!

Look who arrived from Gamestop today!

A little dusty but it's ok.

I understand what you mean, trust i know this is easier said than done especially considereing the current state of amiibos but when people state that they purchased multiple of an highly sought after item in an area where people cant even get one theres bound to be hurt feelings,i have no issues what people do with thier money but people should be aware of what thier tone of language may come off to other people.

The people who 'buy extra for trades ' get luaghed out the room for this sane reason, nany people view them as scalpers in denial.Whether they are or not is a totally diffrent discussion
And honestly, no one can really judge if someone is truly scalping or not. It's all a matter of morality.
I'm proud to say that the only rares I need now are villager, little Mac and wii fit. The rest I got from trading, preordering or waiting on launch day.
Haven't purchased above MSRP or sold any above retail.
I have not lost hope on trading for any I'm missing because there are always people like me in the same boat that have a villager or little Mac but we're not able to snag any megaman.

Did I mention I'm also an optimist?

Did I make the cut? In any event, you're a gentleman/gentlewoman and a scholar!

Yes! You're in as well. I'll let you know when it arrives and will ship it off via USPS priority mail promptly.

Also: I plan on going to the local 24 hour walmart to pick up all the gold mario amiibos I can to do the exact same thing for GAF. Hopefully I can score you guys some more. :)

So if anyone else grabbed a gold mario I'll pay double + shipping (also I live in the US). Really don't wanna pay more than that ;_;

Edit: I can also trade a Rosalina

Gonna have to disagree there, don't know how many times I've seen on Ebay "4 of 6 sold". Six? Really? And someone just happened to buy six for themselves and didn't need them?

Besides, even if they only have one to sell, but are selling Villager for $150, that is 'still' scalping. Don't care if they normally don't do it.

You're awesome!

I know I'm late to the game for gold Mario what a crappy day for me to not be online all day. Joys of working ten hour shifts I guess. This is a long shot but anyone got a gold mario I'll pay retail + $10 for your troubles. Or I can trade a Pit. Let me know In PM pls Thanks.

It looks the the Gold Mario is just the same Mario out of the Mario line, but in gold.

So it has no additional abilities/unlockables? And does the upcoming 'normal' Mario have anything different functionality than the wave 1 Mario?

2 left. Anyone else want the gold mario amiibo at retail cost? You just pay shipping.

Edit: And you have to live in the US. Sorry, forgot to make that distinction.

I have to ask. Why are there so many Americans hung up on not shipping to Canada? It's not like it costs them anything if the buyer is paying shipping.

They all function the same. Gold Mario is recolor Super Mario series Mario but gold. You can use Smash Mario for Mario party 10 if you don't want regular mario. The reverse is also true that you can use regular Mario for Smash.

I meant if someone from here were to say they bought two and plan on trading the other one or selling it for retail... We can't really be sure if they're being truthful about it.
As much as I love the people in AmiiboGaf, I'm sure more than one of us have sold an Amiibo for a lot more than they're worth.
But it's not my place to judge because it's just how it is.
With limited quantity products, scalpers won't cease to exist

Is there any way to still get Dedede?

My GameStop manager said that Dedede and Ike will get restocks in the summer. I'd like somebody to corroborate that, though.

As for the people buying multiples, I don't blame them. If you look in our trade thread or the amiibo swap subreddit, you'd know that if there is something you don't have, you can get it for trade. And I certainly don't blame people who pre-order multiples at different stores. I've was almost burned by a Toon Link cancellation at GameStop. Luckily the local TRU had an abundance of them on the shelf.

Man I'm not sure what to do to score a gold mario amiibo.

I have had the walmart page on auto refresh for 2 hours...what more can i do?!

The same people that want them now minus the scalpers. Jesus, you're really starting to sound like one of them.

Why is this not a problem for Skylanders and Disney Infinity? There's plenty of those figures in stores everywhere, yet Nintendo gets treated like this sacred entity and its okay that they produce so little.

Ok then. I think amiibo is having great success and I doubt Nintendo is doing anything but counting their money. I do think they could do better with in NA stock yes. There is short supply, then there is sold out on the first day exclusive supply which is ridiculous.

Then there is the problem that Nintendo isn't resuppling in NA when Europe just recently seemed to got another WFT shipment, at least Amazon did.

But sorry, I just don't think Nintendo would have such great success if every store had an ample supply of every single amiibo. And what stores is going to stock 49 amiibo anyway? This thread would probably still be on number 1 or 2. Just my opinion and I think it's one Nintendo shares.

Shout out to bms2993 for being a good Amiibro. Others please try and do this. It is what makes us a community. I understand those that want to use the trade philosophy but I ask you not sit on them too long and get them to others that need them. You may prevent them from having to paybextras with scalpers. I really think the good karma will catch up to you if you need one down the line. This is just my opinion but I promise it feels awesome to help someone complete a collection. This thread has helped us all most likely with getting figures for our collections through information, trades, or selling at MSRP and shipping. Hope everyone is getting what they need and I hope to be able to get some more rares and uncommons out there as I find them. Have a good evening Amiibros and Amiigals

No, you won't be 100% sure all the time, not when you are using that example of only buying two.

But my point is a lot of the scalpers are easy to pick out as you see them selling a boatload of them, or see their username pop up often, once again selling an overpriced amiibo (item).

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but in more obvious situations like I stated, they don't get that benefit.

Buying 6 of the same amiibo is ridiculous lol no excuse for that

Is Sonic still somewhat rare? I just bought one at Best Buy but I don't really want him, I'm hoping to trade it for a Mega Man. Anyone interested or is Mega Man way rarer?

I'm sure this has been brought up a bunch of times, but does anyone have a good method of opening amiibos without completely destroying the packaging?

I have yet to open a single amiibo, and I do want to level some up in Smash. I've been so exhausted from work that I've had barely any time to play recently. I've been delaying opening any, but I have some doubles for that very reason, and I think it's about damn time.

I keep thinking "Nah I don't want any of those other amiibo"

But then I look at gold Mario and think...I kind of want gold Mario...I have Mario. I don't need Mario. I don't even want any from the Super Mario line.

Is this what true addiction feels like?

When you crush your Amiibo up and try to snort them you'll know addiction feels like.
