Amiibo Thread 5 | Because we didn't preorder thread 4

Guys you gotta check out your local Best Buy. I walked in spontaneously and found two Sonics, two Mega Man, five Toon Links and a Sheik in a pear tree. My day when from terrible to ecstasy. Of course I only got one of each to be courteous to the guys standing behind me.
 
Damn, I'm so mad right now at myself for getting into this mess and I really hate GameStop employees.

I called a local GS. Ask the dude if I they have Sonic. He's like sure, come down, I'll hold one for you.

I get there and some other employee is like "preorders only". Says the other guy was mistaken.

I leave all sad and as I'm exiting the parking lot, I hit a ice mountain and pieces of plastic chip off my car, and this is a 2 month old brand new 2015 car. So now that's probably like $300 down the drain (anyone know how to fix that for cheap?)

So all discouraged, I decide to park and take a few. I look on Best Buy and it says "in stock".

So it's a little out of the way but I head over. Nope. Nothing. Employee is like" that's strange" and that's it.

I get home, see my DK/Yoshi Amiibos arrived from BB. In a mailer. Get it open and it's crushed. Which I would forgive, then I see they bent the cardboards to fit it in there.

I look at my phone, and Sonic just came back at Walmart.com and I missed it by 10 mins.

I'm really discouraged after all that. I'm definitely never going out to get any more Amiibos. Online or bust.

Just wanted to vent, sorry.

Don't be too mads. Sonic and Megaman seem to be hitting alot of places now. Scalpers are still buying them all on sight, but if stock keeps up it will be the same situation as with Toon Link; too much stock in stores for the scalpers to pricefix. Watch out with online, shipping can be a real crap shoot as well, as you described. Lots of people here have had pics of bent cardboard to stuff as many in a box as possible.

A thing I've taken to doing when searching stores is making conversation with people since everywhere I go there is normally someone else coming in and checking or an employee who is interested/knows about amiibo. I've become much less frustrated at returning with nothing every time since I started doing that.

I feel your pain. My local TRU had a restock of Sheik and Toon Link, but no sign of Dedede or (of course) Ike. Even though there was a spot for Dedede labeled w/ today's date. I asked if they had got any new ones in today and she said nope w/ a look on her face like she'd been asked 100 times that day.

Anyway, if you really need a Sonic, I somehow ended up w/ 1 or 2 extras. Probably won't use him in Smash. But look around first to avoid shipping and whatnot. I have a feeling he'll be in line for a restock or 2.
 
Probably wont' be getting Gold Mario. I've been online the 3 times it has gone up for pre order, but they won't ship to my preferred location and when I selected my sister's house it would sell out. Hope I don't go crazy over it, he is just another mario.
I have every single amiibo thus far though. Feels good. Even bought pikachu even though I hate that yellow rat.
The new ones keep getting better and better quality wise. Hope we see more premium amiibo later on as well like Skylanders Giants which are ~$5 more expensive but are bigger and more detailed. I'd also like to see more amiibo designed as actual toys unlike the ones we have now which weren't designed with amiibo in mind.
 
Hopefully I can get a Gold Mario. I'm not getting the normal one with Mario Party because I buy all digital. I was traveling for work and wasn't able to respond to any of the postings. I'd had such good luck up until now.

Can't believe Bb is bending these thjngs and sending 'em in mailers. All of mine from Bb and Amazon have arrived well packed in boxes.

My sympathy to anyone burned by this... Just let your amiibo breathe!
 
Really good day today. Went to a Gamestop, Target and TRU that I haven't checked before and they each had something good to grab.

Where the hell is the PO for Wave 4?

Did another round around the city. Meta-knight Dedede and Shulk still impossible to find.
Asked around. None of the shops even got them in the first place. .
 
Just came back from picking up a Sonic. I called ahead and held just in case because the closest GameStop had low stock. A lot of stores in Central Florida are showing that Sonic and Mega Man are in stock, so I'd check if you live in the area and want either.

It also says Ike and King Dedede are in but both stores I spoke to said they don't have them or they're for pre-order.

The GameStop I went to said they were taking "unofficial" pre-orders for Wave 4. Something about transferring it over to an actual pre-order once they go up. Didn't do it.

Yeah that sounds like you'd give them the money and then suddenly that money would be gone without any knowledge of where it was
 
Can someone link me to a guide for setting up tenso for japanese imports or whatever? I want to be ready if I get another chance. Pretty sure it's been posted in one of these threads before

I'd like to say they were just being cool about it and trying to help but sounded too sketchy.

Wish the pre-orders would go out already. Just want to lock down Ness and Lucina.

They are probably just using your money to preorder a random game far in the future then canceling it and moving your money to the Amiibos. Wish my store would do cool shit like this they are too up tight
 
saw a few Sonics at Gamestop earlier, and picked one up. (boca Raton, Fl)

still not sure if Megaman and Dedede even do actually exist

Are you sure they wouldn't? Like this may be something from corporate since I've heard multiple people talk about it and I know the gamestops in my area are doing it as well.

I mean I'm not putting money down for it, but if you want to why not ask?
 
I have a friend who works in a BestBuy in the town over and he messaged me around noon to let me know that they got a small shipment of Megaman amiibos in.
He said he couldn't really hold them but he was a bro and hid one Megaman in the headphone aisle next to the game aisle where the amiibos are.
I drove all the way down there and got it.
Last one of, what he said, were 5.
There were also like 10 Sonics so I got one of those as well even though I wasn't really looking for one.
Now if I can get a Toon Link and, hopefully, eventually a Zero Suit, I'll be good and done with this hunt.

That actually sounds like a nice deal.

A new wave will just continue the shit show even if there aren't any exclusives. Getting in on this early should put you way front in line at that store. Just gotta get documentation of what they plan to do.

I'll think about it. I'm not really in the area of this GameStop but I'll ask the one I normally go to if they're doing something similar. If all they're doing is putting money down on a future game like suggested then moving it to Wave 4 amiibo, seems fine to me.
 
Got the email about my Smash soundtrack being shipped on Wednesday but it hasn't arrived yet. Debating on whether to open it or not but I'm already leaning towards opening. I'm already opening my amiibos so why not. :P

I thought the Smash soundtrack was some ways off. I don't seem to have any email about it yet -- should I be worried? Is there something I need to do online to claim it?

Actually, checking the Club Nintendo website, it says the CD is shipping in March. Maybe they're doing it in waves?
