We all wish they would go out I think. But I'm pretty sure with my schedule now, they'll go out while I'm at work and be sold out in 15 minutes because of how many people are now watching, waiting and wanting these things.

Also, I have to say- I just got an ad for a Japanese import store with a Toon Link and Lucina figure in it...I feel like this thread has lead to that ad.

Sup Amiibros!? ^_^

Pretty good day for me! Went to down to GameStop and picked up my Mega Man pre-order (luckily the 48-hour thing must have not counted for me since they had him locked away below the counter) then I asked if they had any Toon Links at all, which they responded that YES they just got some in today. So I bought a Toon Link too! :D

Also I was surprised to see there was at least 3-4 Sheiks on the pegs, so I guess she's not as uncommon as I thought, guess it depends though. :3

So Rosalina & Luma is being specifically called out as permanently discontinued. Guess that means the SMB series Rosalina (unannounced but inevitable) will permanently replace it? Probably confirms that will be the case for the rest as well methinks, especially with Peach, Yoshi, and DK going on sale and disappearing everywhere.
 
Ugh, I give up on Villager. I can't warrant spending anymore than $40 on a single amiibo. I spent the last hour trying to find one that would even ship to the US, as every pos American seller wants 70+ for imported versions.
I guess my collection is forever incomplete.

There are just some amiibos I've already accepted I won't ever have. Villager is one, as is wave 1 Marth. Don't care too much for Wii Fit Trainer.

But some I want, even the older ones. Like especially with Little Mac and Pit. I am hoping I will be able to trade for them down the line.
 
I'll believe discontinuation when I hear it from Nintendo.

The only 3 i need are the hardest ones to get ahold of unfortunately... 2 of which are confirmed discontinued

Link and Kirby I see everywhere still. Samus not as much. Haven't seen a wild fox in months. I got mine right on time.
 
I'm shocked you guys are surprised about discontinuation of wave 1 figures. They have a new line coming in 3 weeks with 5 figures and still have multiple waves for the SSBU line. Where do you think they're going to get the shelf space if they keep stocking Link and Kirby and their wave one figures? I wouldn't be shocked if we have Mario from SSBU being dc'd so as to not have 2 separate Mario figures up.

Yep. All the Mario figures are getting replaced. Link replaced with Toon Link, Samus and Fox have been uncommon to rare for awhile now, and Kirby seems to be getting a bit uncommon at stores.


Oh God...I have to buy them all this month or face the risk of discontinuation! I still want Smash Mario, Bowser, Pikachu, Kirby, and Diddy Kong. Maybe Donkey Kong too but he's already dying but maybe I can find him locally. Unlike the others, his Mario Amiibo looks alright so I don't mind him either way.

From that list I should mainly go with Smash Mario, and Kirby. Others should be safe for a month or two I hope. If I get a third Amiibo I want Diddy Kong but maybe Bowser really is the right choice even tho he is common that just released. I don't know too many choices. I could actually afford a fourth one if I get Code Name STEAM digitally since I won't pay tax LMAO. But physical version!
 
"Discontinued" in the context of that sign means Target specifically will no longer be getting shipments of that character for the foreseeable future. It means nothing for anyone else. Samus has been discontinued in Target's systems since December for example.
 
the gamestop store search actually lists d3 in stock at every location within 50 miles. i refuse to believe... but will travel around tomorrow to make sure :P
 
My Best Buy had a Diddy, some Shiek, some Toon Link, some Zeldas and some of the most common ones (Link, Pikachu, Mario, Browser, Kirby). Is that worth anything? Cause I'm gonna go back tomorrow and pick something up just because I can. If anyone needs one I could probably pick it up for you at price w/ shipping and tax applied.

How do you look up what the stores have? When I bring up d3 on GameStop, it had it listed as online only and doesn't let me search what individual stores have.

The entire amiibo situation is quite shocking. They took Skylanders/Disney Infinity, and made it so much more complicated. Release 30-40 a year, and make it so whoever wants one can usually find it? Too easy. Make it blatantly clear which games they work on? Where's the fun in that? Have product linger on shelves for months if not years to help late adopters? Nah son, we like our product lines to last hours.

Easiest way - open up two pages. One for the item you want to search for, and one for item that you can search for. For this example, let's use Sheik and Ike.

On the sheik page, search for her. You'll notice the URL ends with "sku=108101". Just replace that 108101 with Ike's 108105, and you're good.

I may have one later today. I offered first dibs to a couple of friends but haven't heard back, but I doubt they'll be interested. If I do end up with one in hand I'm most likely open to trades, but I'm kinda running out of amiibos I actually want that people would realistically give up. :(

Nintendo won't say anything like usual.

It's a guarantee they'll discontinue characters coming in the first Super Mario or Mario Party waves though.

Like I had said earlier, I understand wave 1 figures, and even wave 2 being discontinued. But there is NO reason at all that wave 3 should be discontinued at this point. And if you look at Target's letter, there were at least 3-4 wave 3 figures on that list.
 
Meta Knight was restocked and sold online by Best Buy Canada around 7:50am EST this morning.

Sold out now but that may give some hope for a restock with Best Buy USA soon.

Wow, that's awesome, thanks a lot! It shows a few GameStops around me having DDD as Low Stock. I'm assuming those have to be preorders. I could call them, but they don't open for an hour and I'm about to go to sleep. I just got home from work and don't know if I can stay awake much longer >.>
