Now that I actually own pretty much all the rare ones I'm not so sure about if I want to collect amiibos at all. I think I really need to ask myself if I want these amiibos because they are rare or because I really want them. *sigh*

I thought those numbers were considered unreliable?

Well, the only numbers are the months manufactured as we don't know the exact number of figures however the certificates are straight from Nintendo. When the gold and silver editions were learned they showed 2 months of manufacturing each, ness and charizard certs were just made available and listed 1 month.

I can tell you which is going to be more rare.. :-)

Ike was manufactured 1 month, Megman 2... which is easier to find in NA?

I waffle on that. I had a Marth, I sold him, and now I want another...once I get him (and Lucario), will I still want them?

Lucina, Robin, Ness, and Pac-Man, I legitimately want though.

I really believe this will be one of the most common amiibos.

Got to disagree. The fact that it's store exclusive already strongly indicates that it won't be common. I think that it won't be as hard to find as some of the others, at first, but give it three weeks and you won't be able to find it at any walmart and since no other stores will carry it, that will be the end. It seems highly unlikely another production of this amiibo will be made. Once they are gone, they are gone.

Both seem pretty hard to come by...I mean Megaman is like finding a unicorn or bigfoot, but Ike is like finding a unicorn AND bigfoot.

NoA are master trolls.

"Just a reminder that the @Walmart online preorders for the new Mario amiibo Gold Edition represent just a small fraction of product made available in advance of the launch. You can still pick one up at a Walmart store on 3/20."

Yeah that seemed pretty obvious. Preorders were only up for minutes. Don't let it fool you though people, this is a store exclusive amiibo. Hopefully though, most that go to the store on 03/20 will get their hands on one. I think it's going to be the people that go looking for one after that are going to be SOL.

So what's villager? Bigfoot RIDING a Unicorn while punching out a Megalodon?

Witch will be harder to get, normal Mario who only comes with mario party 10 bundle or gold Mario?

Some reason me thinks those MP bundles will be harder to get.

The fact that Nintendo say that with the Golden Mario amiibo gives me hope that maybe they will finally get their shit together once Wave 4 hits stores. Sigh please, Nintendo.

Presumably, with more time bw announcement and release for W4 than the others (I could be wrong), I'd hope this is the case. Would be nice. But...Nintendo.

Question: would you rather have gold Mario available as it is now, or have it only available as a pack in for Mario Party 10? (The only SKU is the pack in or game by itself)?

March 20 is during my Spring Break, so I'll hit up the local Walmart early that morning to see what type of stock they have.

My torture right now is playing Codename Steam and having a Marth and Ike Amiibo both still in their packaging. I want to scan them to use in my party but I didn't plan on opening Marth until I managed to get a second one from the reprint. Fire Emblem is one of my favorite franchises & I planned to keep the Smash Bros. FE line packaged for collection sake.

I can't believe I'm actually tempted to buy another Mario amiibo. The Super Mario one looks really neat too. I will get Luigi, Peach and Toad though as I don't have figurines of those already.

Hmm maybe in NA. You can import it elsewhere though worst case.

We're not sure yet what Nintendo has planned for Gold Mario outside of the US yet. We could see a rise in people importing away from US for a change of pace.

MegaMan is so weird though. Some people can't find any and yet I've found him on the shelf three separate times, once at TRU and twice at Best Buy.

Not to mention the countless times he's appeared at GameStop online and Amazon.

Gold Mario amiibo was manufactured for 2 months... Charizard and Ness 1 month...

You should be able to get a gold amiibo in store as long as you don't wait a couple weeks.

I think you're reading too much into the manufacturing dates. By your logic, gold mario will be twice as available as regular Mario, because Mario's certificate says the date of manufacture was only Dec. 2014. It seems much more likely to me that they began December by manufacturing the figures, including putting regular paint on the regular Mario's pieces while setting aside some figures to be painted for the gold and silver editions once the regular Mario production was finished. For all we know the special editions were all painted by the first week of January. Considering these products were tested on January 28th (regular Mario) and January 29th (gold mario), there probably wasn't much of January spent on the Gold edition. The fact is though, we have no idea. I imagine they would be required to include January on their Gold Mario certificate if even just one day in January was spent finishing up manufacturing the lot of Gold Marios.

Wait...so the non-gold Mario amiibo is only going to be available in the Mario Party 10 bundle?

Apparently there are a Little Macs and Captain Falcons on the way to Best Buys in the USA

No details on what stores but an employee says he sees them.

Yeah, I saw that last january in store when I was cheking for any they might have missed. When the clerk tried to order one to his store it won´t allow it, apparently they had 300 in the way for the San Diego Area, but they have yet to be in the wild.

I've already addressed this multiple times. We do not know Charizard and Ness received only 1 month each of manufacturing. All we do know is that both had production runs in January that were each certified just a week ago. There's absolutely no reason to believe there was not also a production run in February for either character, or that there isn't one this month as well. Any such production runs would not yet have CPSIA certification (and won't for weeks, or in the case of any March runs, months), and thus would not yet be listed on Nintendo's online proof of compliance documents.

I still say it's nonsense to expect Charizard to be anything other than common. Come on, it's Charizard.

I've been hearing this, but I could not in a million years imagine that Nintendo would release a Mario line of, well, of anything, and not have an actual Mario item in that line. Hell, the card itself says MARIO. Could you imagine going to Best Buy or Target or Toys R Us, seeing the Super Mario line with no Mario to be found? You got Peach, Luigi, Bowser, Yoshi... oh wow, Toad (I can dream, right?) hmm, but no Mario? I'm not buying it.

EDIT - I just read the bottom portion of the link.... still... I can't process the idiocy of that decision if true. No way it makes sense.

There's no way vanilla Super Mario Bros. series Mario won't eventually be available for stand-alone purchase in NA. Literally, there's a 0% chance. I know it's hard to be optimistic with Nintendo lately when it comes to this kind of stuff, but come on, be realistic.

Artificial Rarity, i dont think its too far fetched of Nintendo considereing thier latest decisions here in North America.

Or perhaps "Super Mario Series" Mario is being held off unitl Smash Bros Mario is cleared out in stores.

Can't post the link, but one of the new Mario Party 10 videos Nintendo uploaded to their YouTube channel has the first real life showing of the new SM Amiibos. The promo art made them look really cheap and I scoffed at them being the same price but the retail versions actually look really good! If I miss out on Smash Bowser I'm now okay with that. Really want Toad but will wait and see if they do Toadette. Also found it funny that they didn't show Peach once in the video. Nintendo's all like "Okay, noone wants this character, jus ignore her." :P

I don't think they have put the smash mario on clearance, whereas other wave 1 amiibo with super mario line successors have dropped in price. Perhaps they expect the old mario to remain on shelves a bit longer, and thus don't feel rushed to provide another stand-alone mario. It's not like stores will have separate displays for each amiibo wave.

I think they are still operating under the assumption that the gameplay features of the amiibo are compelling reasons that people are buying the things (rather than as just collectibles), and therefore the bundle will be a modestly popular product. I'll be stunned if it isn't just a timed exclusive.

Mega Man I ordered earlier from Gamestop has already shipped. Anybody else who took advantage of it be on the lookout for your shipment confirmation.

Mac and Falcon were originally released in December, when the port strike business was heating up. Perhaps some of NOA's stock was trapped in the strike for a month and a half.

I've mentioned in the past that I imagine Nintendo phasing out the early waves of the Smash line so as to not have any doubles available, such as Luigi (still plenty of him on the shelf) Mario, Peach, etc. but I can't imagine them releasing a Mario line with no Mario readily available, unless it's as you say, to wait until Smash Mario is off the shelves.

And Nintendo has to approach this with the thought of the Amiibos being purchased because of use, not as collectables. And I'm sure function will pick up the longer they're on the market and the more experience Nintendo has with them, but their use has been poor relative to the price.

So where have these two been?

I figured they were OOP and all shipments were out, has Nintendo been holding back shipments?

Either way, good news. Will need to be checking BB this week.

My guess is stuck on a boat in the middle of the ocean :x I honestly wondered if that would actually happen and stuff from Wave 2 and such would randomly show up.

Just did some calling around and found out that between three Best Buys near me will be receiving Little Mac and Captain Falcon. Two of them with LM and one with CF. They couldn't tell me which shipment, but gave me their normal shipment day of the week.

My Best Buy receives shipments on Wednesdays and Fridays. Not that it does me much good while I'm on a business trip. This is exactly how I missed Rosalina too.

Yeah, I agree. I think timed exclusivity for the new mario is marginally less silly in the play-first mindset than it would be in a collectible-centric one: "exclusive pack-in" as a marketing tagline to encourage people to actually buy the game with the toy to try out the features, rather than buying a figure-less SKU and ignoring the amiibo altogether. If they were looking to milk the obsessive collector, the pack-in would be a limited edition variant of somebody, instead of a character that's likely to be arbitrarily common in the end..

....wait. A figure-free MP10 release does exist, right?
