Amiibo Thread 5 | Because we didn't preorder thread 4

Stopped by Target this afternoon, a Nintendo rep was setting out the new Super Mario series. So naturally, I picked up the last SSB Yoshi they had in case he gets replaced by the SM one, I had $10 in my pocket so why not :D

I have a Gold Mario on pre-order (hasn't shipped yet), and maybe I'll get a Toad another time, but I'm not really interested in this line overall.

Is the line still long? So pissed that I didn't get to go to NYC today. I'm usually there on Fridays, but had to change my schedule around this week. grrr.
 
I won't be able to get to a store until late tomorrow at the earliest...I'm never going to get a Toad, am I? :(

I just want him for Mario Party and Captain Toad :(
 
All I know is I'll be getting another Yoshi, love how his Mario Line amiibo looks. I'm also considering replacing Luigi. Smooth Criminal Luigi has some charm but...I might want one in a more normal pose. We'll see.

Not sure why an order being processed makes you nervous. Mine is still in processing, and is scheduled to ship March 24 to 27. So, feeling just fine. Don't worry ;)
 
I'm not putting in any effort outside of Gold/Silver Mario to collect the Mario Party series. I already obtained the Mario amiibo, and 2 Toads.

My girlfriend is essentially in charge of any Mario Party amiibos for our collection, I don't have the strength (And by that I mean spare gift cards) to deal with Peach, Bowser, Luigi or Yoshi.

Why 2 toads?
 
I have 2 golds (got them by sheer luck and a mix up).... I will probably get rid of one. Not sure how to do it or what to trade it for as I don't really collect amiibo's per say... I just really like the gold one.

If anybody is willing to trade. Maybe we can work something out???

Is the trading thread still active? I have 2 extra Dedede's and a Lucario to trade if I have problems with Wave 4. I was planning on using them on Gold Mario but I was able to walk in and get one last night.

Toad also looks more common than I anticipated. I have one pre-orderd at Gamestop but might cancel since TRU had them.
 
My Wii Fit Trainer from amazon.it finally arrived! Although it was a full 7 days after the expected arrival date... hey, it arrived in great condition!

Now I'm only missing Meta Knight and Villager... I'll probably never be able to get Villager short of them reissuing it.
 
Got to Walmart at 6:30~ish after staying up since 1 AM so I wouldn't oversleep and miss out. I ended up being fifth in line and everything was going swimmingly until it turned out that the store somehow only got 5 Gold Marios and the girlfriend of a guy who had already gotten one (both of them were right in front of me in line) decided she needed another one for herself in addition to the MP10 + figure bundle and I left completely empty handed. Needless to say I was devastated, and with no online or in-store restocks apparently planned I guess I'm 500% screwed :(

My Gold Mario that I ordered from Wal-mart on March 16th STILL says "Processing" Arrives by Tue, Mar 24 ..what gives, everyone else got theirs shipped yet I am still waiting..my Toad shipped yesterday from wal-mart but not the gold amiibo

Until they take the Gold Mario page down at Walmart.com, keep a close watch and sign up for alerts and whatnot.

I would expect at least one more round orders opening up, there are bound to be orders cancelling over the next few days as a result of bad payment info, and they'll likely be put back up for sale.
 
Watched some unboxings of the Super Mario series' amiibo and I have to say... I really think these look much, much better than their Smash Bros. counterparts. No ugly plastic stands, no small details completely botched. Looks good - they actually look like a much higher quality figure, in my opinion
 
Went to Meijer today to pick up Codename S.T.E.A.M., and they had plenty of Mario Party Amiibos. There was some extra bundles with the Mario amiibo in it, and Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and Bowser had a ton of stock.

Toad had the lowest, but even then there was 3 or 4 of him left. I thought the amiibo all looked great, but personally the only one I will be getting is Toad when he arrives in the mail next week from Gamestop.

Still, even though I kind of expected it I'm still pretty damn surprised. So this is what it is like when Nintendo bothers to stock stores with amiibos. lol
 
I'm just glad that this whole wave seems to be much more largely produced. Nip scalpers in the bud. They'll eventually sell through provided more games use the functionality.

I walked into Best Buy on lunch and they had plenty of all of the SMB line as well as 10+ of the Mario Party bundle. I grabbed one of each to take advantage of the GCU pricing. Now I get to go to Gamestop after work and refund all of my paid off preorders.

Hope this is a good indicator that wave 4 will be the same and is not going to be a nightmare to get like wave 3. Just imagine how awesome could be to walk into your favorite retail at the amiibo section and comfortably grab a Ness, a Robin and a Lucina?

Hahaha I did the same thing today.

Had the 5 Amiibos and the MP10+Mario bundle all pre-ordered at EB Games and paid in full.

However, Toys R Us here in Canada did a 3 for $30 deal on Amiibo, so I bought the 5 Amiibos plus an extra Luigi, then just returned the Luigi back right after the transaction and got $11.30 back (figure+tax).

Also, the MP10+Mario bundle wasn't on sale at Future Shop, but they were giving away a $20 credit towards your next game purchase that is $59.99 or over, so I can use that for Bloodborne on Tuesday.

Bought those and then went to EB Games and got all my money back. I told them if they price matched I would have gladly bought the items from them, but fuck them. They never do good sales or give away credit and stuff.

It could also be Memphis, I don't know anyone collecting Amiibos, but then again I also don't know who games like I do.

I hope wave 4 isn't this bad, I really want a Ness and Robin...

The retailer exclusives make it look proportionally bad. That's 4/11 amiibo that you could only find in one store, on one day (if you were lucky). For the other 7, only Ike and Dedede are unicorns. Sonic, Mega Man, Sheik, Bowser, and Toon Link can still be ordered off Gamestop.com

Shulk & Rosalina is sold out! Lucario still Available. Two more boxes pulled out for Meta Knight. Mario Party 10 Bundle still in stock. Still come down if you have the chance. Time is 3:26 pm. Leaving the store.

It seems like Megaman, Sonic, and Sheik are also pretty easy to find. I even saw a Toon Link and Sheik at Wal-Mart, and as a general rule of thumb, if I see something in Wal-Mart it's pretty much guaranteed to be common as shit. Well, barring this whole Gold Mario fiasco I guess.

I'm super crossing my fingers... but more people know Bowser and Yoshi than... NESS, so i'm not counting on it.

You are probably right, I have been seeing sheik in more locations as well. Sonic, I saw at best buy but no where else, megaman I only see online. Its just frustrating that you can't go in and buy these all the time. I'm not against some being "uncommon", just against the "total lack of being able to ever obtain these again" that seems to effect the store exclusives, Ike and Dedede.

Yes omfg, they are bigger, more colorful and vibrant than their Smash Bros significants. It's like Amiibo 2.0. I think it's because the Smash Bros amiibo aims more towards a slightly realistic look while the SM amiibo uses the cartoony look we see on Super Mario games by EAD.
