Yes I did attack it :)

I guess this is the tradeoff for the more stable framerate. That art design tho.

If it was 60 fps I think it would be easier to understand. I'm interested in seeing comparisons between Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2 PS4 in a couple weeks.

I don't see why you have to wait a couple weeks when you could just look at the PC version to compare as it's pretty much going to look like that. Dark Souls 2 is a pretty ugly game a lot of the times though, even in comparison to Dark 1. The improvements DS2 actually makes don't make up for the things it did worse visually imo.

What sucks is that they show great looking graphics early on and then do this. It sucks being lied to that way. It sucks that most of the industry does this.
Yeah I wish for that to end, we're now in a time where it shouldn't happen as consoles get stronger and games looking better to the point where they shouldn't make it look beyond what the game would look like in the final build.

So Bloodborne is a bit unimpressive so far... The early stuff looked so great. Do we have another Dark Souls II situation on our hands? I haven't been following it closely enough to tell.

We don't , the game always look great thanks to art style but tech wise you could always see it was not up there .
After seeing so much of it thanks to spoiler thread it is just what i expect .
The only thing you can say they lie about is the AA thanks to the super sample pics but all games do that .
Compare to the early vids \ beta it looks better thanks to more AA and less shimming .

Didn't they change some stuff around besides making it 1080p 60fps? I thought they changed the lighting for the new versions.

Is From Software using the same engine as Dark Souls 2 for this? The art direction is generally good from what I have seen of Bloodborne, but the graphics make it look like it could pass off as a cross-gen port.

I would kindly ask if we could avoid Bloodborne shots until the game is released. No rules against it but as a courtesy to those on a media blackout. Choice is yours of course :)

KZ is incredible looking btw

I don't think they done anything beyond some tweaks to the coloring and brightness/contrast in certain areas to get rid of the washed out grey look some areas had from what I've seen of it. Maybe someone else can be more informative but everything I've seen and heard it's pretty much just a port of the PC version, albeit with those minor visual tweaks I mentioned and all the gameplay overhauls for the new version.

Mild changes based on the preview build they've shown.

Lighting is more intense in certain areas but still weaker than the early DS2 gameplay. Textures are a little higher res but it's honestly not too different from the PC version of the game.

Bloodborne looks better on a technical level or at least the alpha did.

I haven't been following Bloodborne too closely (not a souls fanatic) but earlier footage looked wetter, shinier, with more contrast. A look that took on so much life when in motion with those incredible animations. The pics here look very flat and almost washed out in comparison.

Not going to judge the game off of a few shots though - and I'm sure there's plenty to come.

They look washed out thanks to the PS4 share compression.

We've all said it a million times but Sony are hurting themselves by not allowing png exporting. It would take them 2 seconds to patch in.

Huh? RAW > JPG compression "compresses" colors? It distorts colors? I thought compression only affects clarity of pixels?

No idea, but I know for a fact my capture card pics were noticeably better than the PS4 share pics.

Even Driveclub, as great as it looks with the share button pics, really looks that much better in person.

In saying that, those Bloodborne pics above don't seem to be as clear as this one from someone on Twitter/DualShockers...

Possibly, considering that the first set of footage looked like this.

But as you can see the framerate was god awful. Like terribad. So it's possible that they toned it down a bit to get a much better performance, apparently there are no areas so far with the framerate of "blight town." Which validates the purchase for me personally. Cloth physics still look fantastic though.

The lighting and effects in that trailer looked really basic and early though. What we currently see in the latest footage looks better imo, especially when comparing that electric boss fight (1:15 into the trailer) to now.

The strange thing about the CA is it seems to be applied on some environments and not others, if the press release shots are anything to go by.

No CA

Bloodborne pics are out!! Judging from some of the pics here, it looks great overall but I think that has a lot to do with the art style. It is a bit behind technically and that CA is hurting the IQ. I'm willing to bet that those screens here don't do the game justice and there are other better looking scenes in the game.

Every PS4 screen here looks like crap to me because of the god damn awful compression level that the console uses. Except for Infamous and Skylanders tho. Those 2 look as clean as they do on my console.

This game looks a lot better when it's night. I played the alpha. There was no downgrade, there was a lighting change in the first area. Aliasing is still there, but a lot better than in the IGN footage we've seen in february and it's solid 30fps.

Agreed. Sony needs to fix this issue soon. I haven't seen many PS4 games in person but you can definitely tell that the compression is making most screens here look bad.

That's good news.

You mean downgrade? NOPE!

did we ever get official word on what resolution the game runs at. Game has this weird blurry look to it.

900p. It looks to clean for 720p, but not clean for 1080p. Same shit with UFC and MSAA.

You have some overscan on your TV or something? That black space in those Type-0 shots appear if you have your display area settings set a certain way

Yeah, my screen size setting was off and unfortunately I didnt notice it until after I had played through the intro

That looks worse in my opinion. Lighting and effects look grounded in last gen, as does modelling.

I don't think there has been any downgrade with this game. People have always been up and down on its visuals from a technical perspective.

We are getting to the stage where if people claim downgrades, they need to provide some robust proof. It has got to the stage where it taints the tone of conversation in here.
