Where are those sick amazon ps4 deals when you need them!

From the Stupid Gaming Questions thread:

Looking for a PS4 for Bloodborne next week. Any good deals I should know about before I buy one? Preferably a bundle with PS+?

You can always visit Cheapass Gamer to view the latest deals on games. They usually have the ads for the next two weeks posted ahead of time.

From 3/22-3/28, Best Buy has this PS4 deal:

The Last of Us Console Bundle - $399.99
(Free Sony Silver Wired Stereo Headset with purchase of PS4)
(Save $5 on 12 month PS+ card with purchase of PS4)

And from 3/29-4/4 Target has this PS4 deal:

The Last of Us Console Bundle - $399.99
(Free $50 gift card when you buy any PS4)

With the gift card from Target, you can get a one year PS+ subscription.

Edit- The 3/29-4/4 Target ad also has this:

B1G1 50% Off ALL Playstation, Xbox, and PC Software

Sorry if it's been asked a lot, but is it possible to pre-download the patch for those of us still waiting for our physical copies? I'd love to get that squared away in advance if I could.

Pistol deals more damage at longer ranges. They should both have equal parrying power.
Kinda pointless then, considering I'm not trying to stagger/parry my opponent from a distance anyway.

Yeah, sounds good, and I think I'm going to go Professional as well. The extra Vitality from Lone Survivor doesn't compel me much. Unless I'm making a PvP build I ignore Vitality in Souls games. I like being a nimble glass cannon, with lots of offensive firepower and good mobility, but liable to be one-shot at any moment.

Of course, if this really follows in the spirit of the Souls games, your starting class and stats are ultimately only so important.

same here, I never pump VIT. my strategy has always been "just don't get hit".

No, sorry. :(
So just to clarify I'm in the UK but I can pre-order this from US PSN and play it at 6am without any issues?
Will be no different to waiting until Friday and buying the UK version?
Well, i've pre-ordered the us one from the psn, and the timer for the unlock when i look at it from my japanese account is the jpn release, (a day and a few hours) but when i look at it from my us account it say it'll unlock in a few hours.

so my theory is, and i'll be trying it later. start the game with my us account to unlock it, then play it on my main account.

hope that helps.

I just asked the same question, looks like the answer is no :-(

It's...relevant in some situations. Very early game spoilers follow:
The Cleric Beast can't be parried normally. To stun him for a riposte, you have to deal a certain amount of damage to his head. This is easily accomplished with the pistol, which staggers him in two shots. The blunderbuss will likely take 4-6 shots because of its damage drop-off at rage.

Alright so I decided to jump on the BB train and I'm preloading it now, but I have a couple of questions. I've watched some streams and it seems like your firearm is primarily used for stunning enemies to set up attacks correct? Also there's no real magic in BB compared to the souls games right?

On a scale from yelling at the screen to throwing my tv out the window and lighting it on fire.

How hard is this game?

Never played a souls game (played a few min of demons souls way back) but I really am tempted to try this

Oh, you're absolutely right. Good call on that sir.

Yes to the first. Regarding magic, I haven't heard mention of any spells but there are some weapons that scale with the arcane stat, whatever that means.

Amazon decided to send me some valuable information regarding Bloodbornes' console-status.

We should maintain an open spreadsheet for PSN names for neogaf IDs like we do for Helldivers, so we know who we're playing with. Who knows, we might end up with bish (or robot pants!)

so how does the pre loading work? I only downloaded a 5 gig file and a 2.6 gig one - but the full game is 10 more gigs additional to this? How to get that?

I just fought my first small crowd.

... Holy shit. This is it. This is the Souls game I've been waiting for since Demon's Souls. I'm getting joyful Meat Cleaver memories from the starter ax.

Has it been confirmed whether or not you can turn off blood?

The gore is heavily censored in the Japanese release and it also has full english support provided your PS4 has ENglish set to your default language. As far as I know purchasing the Japanese version is the only way to tone down the blood. You should be able to purchase it on PSN by setting up a JP PSN account and then purchasing the necessary funds via playasia or any other 3rd party site dealing in WW PSN codes.

Gaf is gonna crash the moment reviews hit, right?

Naw. It'll crash the moment that one inevitable 7/10 hits and then GAF will overload with the tidal wave of accusations of "doing it for clicks" in the review thread and people creating threads asking why or if we should pay attention to reviews from gaming sites anymore.
