Yeah, I used a couple of mollies and then ran down the steps and finished them off with the cleaver. Pistol seems the best option for the first boss as it does more damage than the Blunderbuss and takes less time to stun the Beast

How's the cane?

Is it one of the more difficult starting weapons? I haven't really felt that it is underpowered. It handled the Cleric Beast pretty smoothly by using transformation combos

I'm absolutely terrified of even looking at this thread due to blackout until I can play the game, but I read one preview (Patrick Klepek - Kotaku) and one little bullet point at the end worries me:

• Does the distinct lack of loot mean Bloodborne lacks customization? Hard to say.

Is there any loot in the game? Are we not going to be able to play FashionBorne just like FashionSouls? Am I not going to freak out when I can't get Black Knight-ish enemies to drop their weapons for me to use? Is there not a ton of different looking armor / weapons / hats to use?

I've been upgrading my Cane (+2 or 3 now) and leveling up Skill. No issues with it as far as damage output is concerned. Also, it looks awesome.

I'll unlock from the target and roll if I know a big AOE attack is coming. but if you time your dodges right you're still getting what I THINK are i-frames (or I'm just really lucky lol) plus you're still facing the enemy AND very close in - tighter than rolling ever allowed us to be. and it seems so far the combats been designed to where you're not getting screwed for being too close.

I guess I'll need to use another button for the lock-on, if I need to un-lock I'm not too fast with the default one.

- where do I find Eileen the Crow? I read that she's at at the Central Yharnam Sewer entrance but I didn't find her there. is she after the pig?

Yes, I did so myself! You can only play offline mode until full download is done tho

Amazing weapon all around. Sword mode is long sword basically, kills anything small and weak to slashing and is great against crowds. Hammer mode has a charged attack that one-shots or faceplants lone, dangerous enemies once you evade their first attack. Pretty much everything dies with it and if it doesn't I whip out the T

I was going to choose the Threaded Cane as my weapon, since I'm interested in the Skill-type build, but I might go with the Saw Cleaver instead. I've heard more than a few people say how poor the Threaded Cane is for the first boss. :/

Started with the Cane and couldn't even take down the two werewolves on the bridge. Restarted with the Saw Cleaver and beat the Cleric Beast first time. Cane = Hard Mode, for me at least.

Which class did you go with?

So far with the threaded cane and Military Vet I am doing well, but I haven't gotten to that point yet. Stuck at fucking work right now. I just got sick of seeing the damn saw cleaver everywhere, and so far I love the threaded cane until I get something new.

Did anyone else beat the first beast in the sick room ? Feels good man, like beating Vanguard Demon...
