So I just had to check my playtime. 22 hours. Holy shit. I've only beaten three bosses
Cleric Beast first try, Father Gascione second try, Blood Starved Beast third try
though I found a fourth in the Cathedral Wards
some kind of priestess or something, I don't know, I warped the fuck out, was just exploring
. I've also cleared out two levels of my first Chalice Dungeon, and am somewhat stuck on the boss of the third level
damn fiery ass Watchdog!
I've assisted many bros, in particular on Father Gascione and a certain sniping gatling gun asshole. But 22 hours and so little progress, lol.

I'm a little after the first boss. I'm liking it so far. The forced change of playstyle (I like to turtle) is refreshing and I like the transforming weapon stuff. Those load times though. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck them.

Yeah the load times suck.

I do love the forced style change. I'm treating this more like a character action game/monster hunter game and it has been paying off. The only thing I dislike is that there seems to be no reason to parry. I guess I could learn, but it seems to be a huge risk with no reward.

I played demon's and dark souls 1 for 100 of hours and I'm not even close to beating him.

How did you do it?

That's probably why you (and I) had such a hard time. It was literal hours before I first died in DS, but I'm getting rocked by Bloodborne. It's like everything I learned and was conditioned to do has become a massive liability in this game.

Music box girl spoiler:
She commits suicide. However, I heard that you can send her to the cathedral or something if you have not picked up the brooch beforehand.
Man. Well, it wouldn't be a From game if I didn't completely mess up on something in the first go-round.

The bell ringing woman appears anytime you start co-op and also randomly later on for me as well.

Oh? So randomly in some areas, you can get invaded even if you don't start co-op? I know she can appear if you ask for help. But be great if she can appear on her own.

6 hours here, still only have beaten first boss. I suck.

What sort of stat distribution should I be going for?
I initially was pumping into skill, thinking it would be best for damage output for my weapon choice (threaded cane). I dont think thats actually the case tho? Im not exactly sure how that works.
I didn't want to ignore my other stats so I just started grinding out some levels in VIT and END. I havent touched STR yet.

The Threaded Cane starts off with a C in scaling. Get it to +2 and it becomes B scaling. If you are maining the Cane, keep putting points into Skill.

Parrying is super useful! It's way more forgiving Imo than it was in dark souls 2 and you can parry and one shot so many enemies and do massive damage to bosses.

Thank you Colingt255 / Skiesofwonder for help with the first boss!!!

Took me 30 minutes to farm up more healing pots, didn't want to do that again!

And now, looking for help with boss 2! (or anyone who wants to play) My bell is currently ringing if anyone wants to join! :)

Can you believe I beat Father G on my first try?
I'm in shock, especially since I haven't even beaten the Cleric Beast yet...

My heart is beating so fast, and my hands are still shaking... Is this why people love the Souls games?
Lol it's not a good game to play for people trying to get their blood pressure down

I think I'm still waiting for this click. Right now I'm just dodging and looking for openings.

It's mostly about how I approach enemies differently. In Dark Souls, I'm scared of taking damage. Like, deathly afraid. So, I usually inch my way into an enemy's agro bubble and wait for them to come to me. They mostly do one at a time and you have yourself a little duel. In Bloodbourne, you've got to go in on these guys or they will pig pile you. The best footwork in the world won't save you when you're trying to dodge a sword, two pitchforks and three axes at the same time. It goes completely against the Dark Souls logic because in DS, this behavior will 100% get you killed. Hits can be soaked now through regain though and thinning out their numbers before the fight starts properly is more important than maintaining good defensive posture.

Yeah the game certainly rewards you for being aggressive. Even if you take damage, you can gain it back by continuing to attack and blood vials are common enough that you can come out of a group of villagers with full health and extra vials to spare.

I went from being concerned I would run out of blood vials to having a huge stockpile thanks to this adjustment. Werewolves aren't so scary. Turns out, like any other big dangerous animal, you've just got to front like you could curb stomp them easy and they slink off all scared
right up until I shotgun them in the face and put my hand through their skull.

True story, by the way. I took out one of the werewolves on the great bridge in record time and his pal screeched to a halt and started retreating from me. In that moment, I knew I'd learned how to hunt. And it was glorious.

I have the strange feeling I missed a boss ... but I'm not requesting any help whatsoever my first run.

I'll find out sooner or later.

YEP!

But I personally think this goes well beyond previous Souls games, besides a few boss battles. So far its like they took Flamelurker and the Old King battles from Demons and build an entire game around that style of insanity.

I think I've asked this but how do I tell if a weapons DMG is raised by the STR or SKILL stat?

I couldn't figure it out in the game I am looking at full weapons stats on a website and I don't see anything that tells me what kid of weapon it is.

Are all 'Trick' weapons a skill weapon?

So I'm having a hard time getting to the Cleric Boss. I beat Dark Souls twice so I don't know why this is such a struggle for me.

The two Nether Beasts (I think) keep getting me. I try to lure out one at a time with the molotovs but they both charge me every time. I had considered trying a pebble. Is there some trick to beating them besides "git gud"

Yoshichan having a meltdown after getting killed by the boss. :) Yoshichan you should start running as soon as the boss gets into the slam position!

Now I can finally play...

...AFTER I downloaded the day one patch which takes me an hour!

You know the game is difficult when you get excited just to reach a shortcut back to the lamp that you've been spawning at for the past few hours.

When you look at a weapon in your inventory it lists the weapon's attribute bonuses near the bottom in the middle column.

Does everything in the insight shop require insight for purchasing? I heard there's armor for purchase there, but I don't want to use up my insight buying stuff as I need it for summoning
