So who was the 2nd boss? Just
some priest from the church? and the Church leaders, they cleansed the infection, but then locked everyone out and kept it for themselves
?

Also, from what I gather so far,
he got infected? Why am I not infected when I get attacked? Where IS the hunter's dream?

If these get answered later on I dont want to know, but was there a context given prior to release/in the manual or anything like that?
There's a side quest that tells you a bit about the second boss and who he is. You probably missed it already.

Well annoyingly I'm sick, but I still managed to get my first 4 hours of game time in before I had to go to bed. This game is amazing! I spent most of my time exploring Central Yarnham and the sewers. Then beat Cleric Beast (second try) and ran into Father G a little while later and beat him on my third try. Cool bosses!

I also accidentally stumbled across a bunch of neat hunter gear in the sewers.

The axe is a cool weapon. I've levelled it up twice so far and it packs a punch. I've bought all the multiplayer bells so might try and help some folk out with Father G tomorrow and then do some more exploring. So happy this game is out.

any tips for BSB? went and got some poison resist gear and killed three other bosses and still can't get him down. he just goes too crazy at the end

I had zero problems with the gatling dude. Probably because the boss of that area was actually the fifth boss I fought and not the third like most others. Was a bit overleveled there.

The Cleric Beast is impossible. I just spent the past hour dying and dying cause of that asshole. Anyone have any tips? I'm using the hunter axe and pistol.

Just 1 hour? I spent 4 hours on him.

Use molotovs, and stagger + riposte when possible

git gud

srsly tho. molotovs all the way for CB.

I am begging someone out there to help me beat Father G. The people I've summoned have not really been a big help. We can do passwords or something.

I'll kick his ass. What's your ID?

This is the first time I have ever played one of the games in the Souls series and im having a blast so far.

I died a few times when I first began playing but once learning the mechanics have been kicking ass.

Perhaps this being my first Souls type game has made this easier for me since I dont have to unlearn any playing styles which is what I have seen mentioned here from players familiar with the series.

The stamina system in this game reminds me of the Monster Hunter series. The difficulty in this game so far hasnt been too challenging. The key thing seems to be mastering how to dodge and parry. This game takes me back to playing Master Ninja mode in Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox. In that game you are constantly bombarded by enemies and basically have to be constantly rolling and moving at all times. This game seems to be the same way.

This game is fantastic. I've only played for around 4 hours. I didn't fight CB because I felt the checkpoint was too far with too many enemies in between, so instead explored the town high and low, which was nerve wrecking and amazing at the same time.

You need to die from him once [or kill him] to gain the ability to upgrade stats. If you farm too much XP before that, you will not have anything worthwhile to spend it on. :-/

I died a few times on him. Then I found a note that encouraged me to summon a hunter so I rang my summoning bell and two over leveled hunters showed up and I just stayed back and watched them wreck the Cleric Beast.

Man, such an amazing game. Wtf at the second boss though.

Father Gascoigne pounced me 5-6 times in a row when he had like 5-10% hp - impossible to parry or even hit him once and I just died every time. Happened every attempt and I just decided to call it a night. Ridiculous. The rest of the fight is easy, but unavoidable pouncing? Not so fun.

My trick was to run up the stairs and have him follow. Go the end of the balcony and drop down on the little house. Wait until he follows. Sprint for the stairs again and stand about a third of the way up them. Face the direction you came in and stick close to the metal railing. There is a good chance he will get stuck attacking against the railing. You can attack through the railing when he is done his flurry of swipes. Just attack and retreat when he starts attacking again. Rinse and repeat because he will eventually free himself and make his way up the stairs

I got killed by this burlap sack-wielding enemy that came out of nowhere, and he transported me to some kind of prison, with tons of tough enemies guarding it. x.x

I LOVE how this is an unspoken rule.

The folks Ive met so far make sure to bow, always. Love it when invaders do it too.

Be sure to
bow to the Doll. Such a small detail they added that blew my fucking mind. Something about the NPC's reacting to your emotions that caught me off guard.

I don't really like how all the bosses now seem to have some kind of enrage or something like that. Just got done with S
hadows of
Y
arnmen
and beat it on the second attempt without too much of an issue. The problem the first time, though, was that the fight was going fine, until
their hoods came of and sword guy started throwing his arm across the room at me. The new attacks they had threw me for a loop, which was compounded by the fact there were three of them.
Oh well, that makes 7 bosses so far, so I guess I'll just keep trucking on for now.

So
forbidden forest is absolutely massive.....

It is huge and I kept getting lost there. It's a miracle I somehow found the right way to go.

That was ruined for me once I realized she does the same thing in response to every gesture haha

GUYS huge help regarding getting to Amelia which I didn't realize before, might help someone out if they were going down the scaffolds all this time like me!

the gate that you open up at the area right after you jump off the ledge from the elevator (after that alleyway with the reaper) opens a shortcut right into a courtyard, which leads to the Cathedral bonfire. So basically after you open that gate up on your first run through, you can go straight out of the Cathedral and up the huge staircase to the area just before her.

Maybe I was crazy for not knowing this, but I'm super happy to not have to drop down that pit anymore!!

Lol just got mega trolled by a note.

Note saying 'safe place ahead' with 39 upvotes, near some corner. I think oh must be a secret passage, so I run into it, get stuck and can't get back out.

Ended up mindlessly encountering the first boss.

People left notes but I was like "lol bullshit" Next thing I know that Cleric Beast is right on me. Wish I didn't use my Molotovs and oil I had but either way I was able to take it down on my first try though I almost fucked it up by getting greedy on the last silver of hp it had.
God damn that was satisfying.

Those are the poison knives that I keep throwing every once in a while. Are you serious though? So if I was able to defeat him finally then maybe I will actually be able to finish a Souls-type game for once? I never beat Demons, Dark 1, or Dark 2.

Really? If that's the case then I'm going to take a screenshot of what the emblem I received unlocked. After going back to the shopkeeper in the Dream world, I have two new weapons now from defeating him. One is 4,000 echoes and one is 8,000 echoes. I haven't saved up to buy them yet but let me go take some shots of what they are right quick.
He killed himself for me; I wasn't even on the roof yet and got the blood echoes. Mufucka jumped off the roof!

I just got to a place after the cathedral. The framerate took a big dive, not as bad as Blightown but not far from it.

Just killed the Cleric Beast after initially giving up, wandering around and finding boss Number 2.

This is a far harder opening than either Dark Souls games for me. I need my shield!
