I probably won't play this anytime soon,but I have a few questions:
1) Does the game have the metroidvania feeling DS1 had?
2) How long does it take to get this hammer?

areas feel very interconnected so far. I'm routinely impressed by it in this respect actually, feels like every time I backtrack and explore I find another shortcut of some kind.

You can buy the hammer after the first boss. Although 'first' is kind of a bad description since you can skip it.

So maybe I just totally remember it wrong but I thought going to The Hunters Dream replenished your blood vials. Is that completely false? I'm running out and can't find more...

If you have/had blood vials in storage, then when you die (don't have to go HD) it'll automatically replenish your vials when you die. Any blood vials, bullets, or other consumables will typically automatically go to your storage when you've reached the max you can carry on hand.

Huh, second swing after charge R2? Never tried that, but I've been pumping vit instead of end. And by big enemies you don't mean the REALLY big axe/ball and chain enemies, right?

I tried to make the kirkhammer work but it just wasn't doing it for me. I LOVE the longsword and great mace movesets in souls games but this isn't quite the same. The importance of range and transform combos sent me back to the hunter axe for now. I mean, the kirkhammer transform combo LOOKS cool but it's so slow that everything I try it on just punches me in the face.

I've got it at +3 which is as high as I can get anything right now but I just was not feeling it for anything other than smashing those big dudes. Which my new weapon (stake driver) is better for even at +1.

Oh well I mostly stick to Charge R2 Double combo for big enemies (yes it staggers even the largest enemies and knocks them back!) and use the Jump Attack for other enemies

Bait Attack, Jump attack Counter, Evade, Follow up or repeat bait.

Kirk Hammer does suffer when you aren't one on one which is exaclty what the sword mode is for!

Its a fantastic weapon and is making the big enemies much easier to deal with

I hate dying right before I was going to stop playing, because then I feel obliged to keep playing and get my blood back, or I'll forget where I died. Then that makes me rush to the spot I died, die again, then stop playing anyways.

At least it's not like Dark Souls 2 where enemies despawn, otherwise I'd feel like I'm actually losing something.

No but you do need people to be online and ringing "Their" bells to come help you among what other matchmaking requirements run in the background

I think the issue may be that there just aren't enough players ringing the bells lol

I will need help later tonight with Father G. Hopefully a GAFfer will hear my bell.

For summoning / being summoned, is there a level limit? My buddy tried to summon me, we set PW's, set to world, but he never got me. I was 12 levels higher, though?

Be more careful towards the end of your play sessions.

There's a level cap on summoning, yes. No idea on the specifics for this game, but considering other Miyazaki games it should be something along the lines of 10+10% levels

So last night I posted about a glitch I experienced. After beating V
icar Amelia
, I tried to go back to Hunter's Dream. The Grand Cathedral lamp post glitched out and wouldn't let me use it no matter how many times I clicked on it. Decided to backtrack back to the Cathedral Ward lamp post. Same thing.

Here's the video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLPiHBgWpAg

I trimmed the video, cutting out the backtracking and a spoiler. You'll also see what happened when I attempted to exit out of the game via the system setting.

One other thing and this is not in the video, after returning to Hunter's Dream, I fast travel to the Grand Cathedral lamp post. Upon spawning, my Hunter goes through the lamp animation without any input from me and I head back to Hunter's Dream.

I have been virtually unable to progress for the last like 8 hours of playing. Just brick walls whichever path I try to go. Getting really frustrating.

Got to take a break. Whenever I start to get frustrated or run into a wall, I take a nice break and play something else or wait till the next day. I am never in a hurry to finish these games.

I love opening shortcuts. I finally opened the first locked door you see when you exit the clinic at the beginning. I was like.. this looks famili..oh shit it's here! Didn't know that the path where i was going was going to lead me back here.

I've slept a total of 2 hours and 45 minutes in the past 52h. I have two more days to go without 'much' sleep till I'm satisfied.

I'm fine :p it's kinda interesting to see how the body reacts! The current issues with my body right now:

- irritating coughs every 10-15 minutes. Stops after approx. 5-6 consecutive coughs

- the white socks on the eyes are filled with red veins

- the bottom of my head (under the hair) is scratchy

- my arms, legs and stomach is considerably more sensitive. Touches that would normally be pleasent to the skin is now uncomfortable

- nose is dripping

I'm expecting the above symptoms to multiply within the next two days. I'm also expecting headaches and slight nausea. My eyes should get better in the next 12-24h though.

Not going to go into details but you do realize how extremely unhealthy that is not only for your brain and heart but also your body as a whole?

Not smart at all.

You need to advance to the third boss,
The Blood-Starved Beast
. After you defeat it,
The chapel will have a door opened that previously wasn't. Go through it, up the elevator and fight your way to the top of the tower. The badge is in a chest.

Can you specify which chapel?

Just got to
Blood Thirsty Beast
and it's the only boss that's killed me more than twice so far. Having a real hard time with it though. It always gets me with the
poison
in it's second phase.
Any tips? I'd use the fire stuff that makes your weapon turn on fire, but I only have 2 left, is there anywhere you can grind them?

Cathedral Ward

I believe is the name of the lamp area.

You can buy them with insight from the insight vendor.

Pardon me if this has already been discussed, but has anyone else that bought the digital version from PSN seeing it show up in their library for purchase? Also when I go into the store on the PS4 or on the PSN website it shows me Bloodborne is available for purchase (not for redownload). This happened with a few games in the past (Driveclub for one). Not sure why, but it means the only way I can redownload Bloodborne in the future is to find it in my purchase history on the website and force a download.

u wot m8

It works the same as it always has in souls games. Except rather than having to be in human form to co-op or PvP, you ring a bell. Functionally it's the same, except more forgiving in Bloodborne because you don't lose the ability to get help if you die.
So when I ring the specific bell I can invade other players? They don't have to "accept" the fight?

Make sure you have antidote. I found the fight was a lot easer once I didn't lock-on. Basically, run up to the boss and do a regular roll before he attacks, you should land right at his ass. Turn around and punish him with a 2-hit combo. I used the 2h axe (for more damage) and L2, R1. Roll away, walk up to him, roll, repeat. You'll get him down fairly quickly. When his HP is low the poison starts to hurt a lot, so if you get hit you NEED to find a couple seconds of safety and make popping an antidote your top priority. Basically, stay in the middle of the map and roll to his left after you run up to him, land at his ass and punish! You just have to keep a level head and stay calm, and make sure you roll at the right time.

I found this fight was a lot easier once I quit locking onto the boss and learned how to get up in his face and dodge his attacks with regular rolls. Regular rolls allow you to get behind the boss quicker than multiple dashes do. Don't be afraid to get all up in his shit. His main attack is super easy to punish with a two hit combo.

how can you even enjoy anything with those symptoms Oo
I've started getting really disorientated (in the game) after I played 8 hours (not in one session) and had problems taking everything in (atmosphere, music etc). I'm just sticking with 3-4 hours per day, I get much more out of the game this way.

I ran into a specific enemy last night who I was mostly at a loss against. I didn't die, but I ran out of healing stuff when it was around 30% and had to retreat.

It was in the cathedral ward past the gate that requires a special key.

Past the middle courtyard thing with the two giants, you can go up the stairs. From there if you go right you find a little house with some crows on top and two hunter-type enemies at the bottom. The first one has a lightning weapon and a lot of defense, but is easy to kill with counterattacks.

The second one is a complete jackass with a rifle spear and a shotgun. He hardly ever attacks with his melee weapon and just spams the shotgun all day. I managed to poke him with the longsword mode R2 a few times but it was hard to just land a hit.
He does little damage so I was able to back off safely, but I used tons of healing items and my pride has been wounded.

This is a big reason as to why I've abandoned the kirkhammer for now, I'm hoping the stake driver has the speed or the hunter axe has the range to solve this problem. I feel like I'm not supposed to be in that area yet but I want to see what this fucker is guarding. But yeah, any tips on fighting an enemy like that would be helpful - also will the other guy in the area respawn? These seem like 'special' enemies and he dropped something pretty cool.

The stuff you pick up to decorate the messengers... how to you actually use it?

Hmm, I guess I just got used to it? Also the hype and excitement in my body overpowers the symptoms. We'll see how it goes today/tonight/this-morning!

Kirk hammer Jump attacks?

Fucking fantastic game. I'm so glad that despite obviously being a 'Souls game, it doesn't feel like just an aesthetic + gimmicks change to the last three. Enough of the design has been overhauled that nuances in encounters and equipment management are very different. I love that I can draw upon my knowledge and experience while at the same time am challenged to learn and adapt to what feels like a very fresh iteration.

Loving it.

what

The stuff you pick up to decorate the messengers... how to you actually use it?

Behind the house there's a messenger's stump or something. Talk to them and you can choose wich messenger item they will use.

Edit: No matter how fast i type someone always answer a question before i do. :D

So I read something interesting about Insight...
Apparently having 20 or more insight makes the game harder and gives enemies new attacks/powers?

Does anyone know if Insight has any other effects, like quest related or opening up new things?

Omg... I didn't know there was a backyard. lol

Embarrassed.

what what what what what

I need this confirmed!

Holy crap, ok so I just beat
Rom the Vacuous Spider
and was exploring Yarnham again. When I knocked on the window of
the little girl who gives you the music box, her sister answered, asking if I had seen her sister
. I was pretty sure I had screwed up this sidequest because I
talked to the girl after I beat Gascoigne but before I found the amulet, so had nothing to give her, but told her to go to the Oedon Chapel. She never showed up.

I can't wait to play through again and see how else I can screw up these NPC storylines.

I had something like that happen to me with MH3U. I didn't play any videogames at all for 3 years and than booom Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate happened. I had trouble sleeping, when I slept, I heard monsters roar, I lost weight (while already too skinny), and basically felt as if I was on amphetamines when I was playing. Time was rushing like crazy, I started playing in the morning and when it became dark outside it felt like I played for 2 hours.
Never happened with any game again though.

Would sleeping for 6 hours or so be such a bad thing? You'll feel considerably better for it. Doing what you're doing seems extremely unhealthy.
