10k is nothing later on, you might aswell buy it just for the shortcut convenience.

You can open that shortcut without the key and for early on those souls are levels man plus if you dont take that route you miss a trophy a bunch of items and a rune...

Speed, atmosphere, environmental design, enemy design, boss design, the actual boss fights themselves.
First: I don't get the speed argument.
You didn't have to play as a fat rolling tank in the souls games, you guys know that, right?

And there rest has nothing to do with bloodborne's world.
You can build a souls game with good atmosphere, environmental design, enemy design, boss design if you want.
And imo they did before.

In Cainhurst at the boss. Decided to teleport out and run back because I had 70k souls. Everyone says he is really hard, so I didn't want to risk it.

He is easy. Just don't stand around and always be near him and always side dodge. As soon as he goes into attack phase you can parry him lol.

Extremely productive bloodborne night.

4th, 5th boss spoilers

After trying vicar twice, I said fuck it. Went exploring, found myself in the henwick. Clearned the whole thing and boss without dying. Went back and leveled up a shit load. Went back to the vicar and kicked her ass in one go. After that found out I could open up the password door (figured that's what locket would do). Backed tracked to another area, talked to some guys, got a stone and think I followed the stone's instructions cause I found myself somewhere I shouldn't be yet.

Also about the 4th boss
Her screams are absolutely one of the most pitiful and sad things I've ever heard in a game. Having this huge monster scream at the top of her lungs but not in anger, but in grief... :(

Dang you caught that too. I'll have to look over her opening introduction to see her again, but I think her medallion was something that she was holding onto. Maybe she was seeing her faith fail her. I see a bit of Maiden Astraea from Demon's Souls in her. Or maybe I'm just making a huge stretch, I dunno...

Oh, you can parry the attack phase? Awesome, I am going to abuse that. I felt so cool rocking his first phase, then he went berserko on me...

I'm completely lost, after killing the amygdala and cleaning Byrgenwerth i have no idea where to go. I don't have new keys for any door, the friendly guy at Central Yharnam is dying and i don't know how to save him. Also no one else is saying anything different.

I will keep searching but, man, i'm probably missing something big.

Holy shit I just killed the hunter in the cathedral legitimately.

Eat shit, guy.
though his AI kinda looped into tossing that bomb to stop me from healing so I just kept dodging and hitting him once.

The rune that gives you 2 bullets every time you crit on your enemy is INSANE.

I'm thrilled to see
Chalice Dungeons
not changing in
NG+

You just have to
make sure you're able to level up before attempting them.

Spoilers for NG+: Hard as nails, but I'm enjoying every minute of it. I really shouldn't of ended it because of the continuation of NG+, but I could always make a new build. Best game of this generation as of now.

At the final boss. Still quite a bit that I haven't seen - the amount of content that's optional is pretty staggering, and that's before the chalice dungeons, which I've yet to touch.

Think I'll come back to wrap this up once the loading patch is out. Until then, PoE.

Two awesome things I've noticed... First of all, the rune that increases xp from visceral attack kill is a HUGE increase, almost twice as much xp. Second, Forbidden Woods is a great place to get vials of blood.

geez you are just trucking hard man...I am off work and you are still making ground on me!
My "progression" is unbearably bad imo :p

Happy as hell to be enjoying the shit out of this though!

VM DOWN

Managed to get her in under 10 attempts

THE SUB DOUBLE DIGITS DREAM IS STILL POSSIBLE
How did you do it? I thought you quit for today?

How did you do it? I thought you quit for today?

Well, I wanted to quit to get a good night sleep like 4 hours ago, but here it is, 4 am :P

Just went super aggressive, I quit trying to read her moves and just brute force beat her down with my +3 axe and fire paper.

Question: What should I do with the "loot" she gave me?
gold locket

Regarded the bolded you can. But The previous souls in my opinion did not do it as good though.Amelia alone shreds most of Souls designs. Playing without armour and shields in Souls does not do offensive play anywhere close to the way Bloodborne does. Enemy movements is tailored for offensive play and therefore they are way more aggressive. Either ways they are two different IP's. I personally would prefer if they focus even more exclusively on offensive play in the sequels. Adding build variety, ranged options etc defeats the purpose of making it a new IP. Adding build variety is something Bloodborne can do in future installments if Miyazaki so wants to add that clutter. Magic is lame but I can see his team adding it if there is enough demand for it from the bloodborne community. I would rather him differentiating the IP even more rather than make a Souls clone

How am I supposed to return to Souls after this?

Precisely what I was asking myself. I guess we relearn everything again :). Damn circling the enemy with the shield up again will feel weird for a while.

God, I'm so sick of getting stuck in the environment and dying!
The game doesn't make it clear what is and isn't breakable.
I'll dodge an attack and go directly into a bench, get stuck and die.

Is there a date yet for this patch?

No, but you can't dodge without rolling. You can't parry with a gun into a visceral attack (though you can argue its similar to parrying with the shield in DS) and there's no health regain system to incentive an attacking mindset. Of course you can play a DS game as slow or as fast as you want, but Bloodborne's entire game is designed around speed. Enemies and bosses are both way faster than they've ever been, which forces you to be even faster. They've never been this fast before in a regular souls game.

As for the rest of your points, idk what you're trying to say. I just think Bloodborne's environment is better. Has way more detail put into it and it brings out the dread way harder than any souls game before it.

Is there any reason not to use that hunter axe? That weapon is too beastly.

I've been finding myself using the cane a lot more lately. At first it was just to switch it up, but I really like it's speed and area of attack against many enemies more. And the whip is awesome crowd control.

For the chalice dungeons does it matter where you do one? I see like six alters in the dream. The first one is always the same right?

Played for 3 hours tonight, made no real progress. I beat BSB last night, so I decided the try out the
battling gun and hunter
from earlier, and damn was that anticlimactic. 2nd hour was spent trying to escape from that prison...thing when the sackboys kill you. Had a nearly destroyed weapon, so it kind of killed the mood a lot. Not impossible, but you know. Third hour, finally was heading to the right area. But then I fell and lost 10K. Went back, the blood echo's just weren't there. Then I died a few steps further...from those fucking sackboys. God I hate those things. I just can't get the timing for the visceral attack. Hopefully I can get it by tomorrow.
