Look at the letters for each stat when looking at the weapon. Weapons use ALL of those stats at rates corresponding to the letter grade for scaling.

Dodge up-left.

I am aware of how scaling works in Souls games, but what's confusing is why a weapon with purely physical damage would have Arcane scaling. It doesn't actually raise the weapon's damage if you increase your Arc.

If your Arcane stat is higher than your STR / SKL stat, does it use your Arcane stat for weapon scaling? I'm confused why some weapons have arcane scaling.. is that only for with elemental runes/paper?

Yup

Acane scaling bonuses dont apply unless the weapon has a rune attached

Nightmare Frontier is one of the worst designed maps I've ever encountered in Souls-history. It may be optional but it's seriously affecting the final score of the game. Absolutely god fucking awful in every way, shape and form.

Abysmal, to say the least.

Let the rage flow freely <3.

Finally home from my work trip and get to load up blood borne. Nope, 2.6gb update that is going to take 8 hours on a 100mbit connection.

Sick of PSN being complete shit.

Hey guys, have a few questions about the online in this game

Is it dedicated servers? Or peer to peer?

What region is the servers if I have a US ver. Of the game? And a US PSN account

What about the network settings, if I choose local will it be local to my IP address, Game region or PSN region?

I live in the Middle East but with US PSN account (long story), so I rather play with people in my region or even from EU rather than US because of latency (lag) issues.

couldnt find a boss in there, also no ch
alice (when gehrmann and his notes told me to get it there)
yes in the load game list from the main menu
Keep trying to find a way to go down. There's another shortcut, tons of houses, etc. That's not be right church.

I have the black church set but i cant talk to djura(machine gun guy) He just starts attacking once i climb up the ladder. Anyone had any success talking to him?

about djura machine gun guy

Can't be as bad as Shrine of Amana in Dark Souls 2. :P

I didn't like it much as well. Kind of reminded me of Dragon Aerie from DaS2.

Holy hyperbole batman. And NF is an awesome zone. It's totally different from the others in design and purpose.

at the square below the
gatling gun
? or in the church where I picked up that thing from the altar?

Go to the shortcut you unlocked across the tower that housed the
gatling gun guy.
Go down the ladder, go out, turn left, then left immediately. A lot of people miss this path.

The church :) I mean they both sort of lead to the same place. There's only one real path in OY haha. There's a different church that houses nothing but a boss.

You can play without the update.

Download it after you went to sleep.

Thanks. Too use to day one mandatory updates I suppose, didn't even bother to open the game once I saw the update.

That and jet lagged. Probably not the best time to play a challenging game but here goes nothing!

thanks guys i'll have another look around later today. I must have cleared the square and church like 5 times looking for another path already lol.

The thing that I absolutely love/hate about this game is all the locked doors everywhere. You literally have no idea what it takes to open them, and if you will ever be able to open them, and where they lead. I find that I have forgotten most of them now, and some of them just unlock on their own, probably triggered by some event like the one to the right of the lamp at the start of cathedral ward. I was like holy shit, how long has that door been opened, and what opened it? No fucking clue. So much mystery in this game.

I'm an addict. I need help.

So where do you find the
Blood Starved Beast
? I beat Father G and Cleric Beast, opened up the door to Old Yharnam, but I hit a dude with a
gatling gun
and I couldn't find where to progress so I left the area. I encountered
Vicar Amelia
but having trouble beating her so I decided to just explore some more.

I hit the wooded area with all the rifle guys and then progressed to the area with the dancing witches, but stopped at the lantern. I also went down to the right of the church, killed the hunter with the
electric prod
, but ran away when I encountered the other one.

I like the look of the NF but fuck that poison river place. You move too slowly in it and even with a high poison resist it is a pain to get out of .

Also has anyone figured out how to
turn into a beast yet
? I know that you use the pellets and then a meter shows up but I can't seem to do enough damage to things to fill it. It seems pretty difficult to fill.

If the person in this video was using my character they would have died before they got that first parry
Really trying to figure out the difference

Why's that? Would you like to compare stats to see if that may have played any factor into it because I'm pretty sure I wasn't over leveled when I was facing it in that video.

Almost 40 hours in now. I spent far less time tonight doing co-op and far more making progress in the game, which worked out well as I opened up several areas and beat several bosses. Got to beat V
icar
A
melia
which was easy, as well as the W
itch
which was even easier, then the S
hadows of
Y
harnam
which gave me a bit of trouble, though not as much trouble as navigating the level to them. I also beat an optional boss and opened up several areas that I'm assuming to be optional as well. This game is huuuuuuge!

I just cant find anywhere to go in old
yharnam
. I got that loot from
the altar and opened the shortcut back
but thats it. Any pointers in spoiler tags pls?

its a pick-up on a side road in the cathedral ward or old yharnam. found it while exploring the other day

After the ladder short cut drop down there should be a different path.

Stumbled into
Shadows of Yarnham
in forbidden
woods
... Beat it on my first try even though the boss caught me completely off guard. These feels are sooo good.

It's actually Blood Starved Beast, and he's in Old Yharnam. You need to make your way through the level. I won't spoil it for you but if you explore the whole area, you will get to him.

watch those posts replying to me, i asked the same question :p (on this page)

I think I'm a little bit screwed
I got kidnapped and taken to the unseen village and the enemies seem way too hard :-(

To deal with those big dudes with the sacks, just charge attack them with a long weapon like 2H axe, or Saw Spear. Bait them into swinging at you, then charge attack them- the range is surprisingly long on those weapons. It will stagger him, so you can back off and regain your stamina. Just watch out for when he powers up because he will come at you a lot faster and more aggressively. Be prepared to dodge. You're not screwed- if you go up the stairs there's a lamp.

Oh and you are right about the area- it seems like the enemies are VERY strong. There's a pig there that one shot me with a charge attack. Even the dogs are mean as hell, and can rip you apart if not careful.

Anyone else in the UK not able to equip their messenger skins?

I see both the top hat and fedora skins in my download list but there's no messengers showing up at that stump.
