Need to stop reading this thread at work. All it does is make me want to leave work

I feel you, brother. I'm literally counting seconds while I read this thread and do my work on two other monitors.

Beasts are weak to
fire
.

Also
stay behind or the side of her and attack that gimpy left arm she has. It will make her crumple and you can do a visceral attack on her.

Honestly, the hardest thing about this fight is the effing camera.
Get a hair cut lady! It's blocking my views of your very telegraphed attacks!

Break her arms if you are having trouble with her healing. Doing so will stun her anyway so it is what you should be aiming for.

Thanks guys. I've been trying straight up parrying and failing miserably, thought there might be something else to it. Will try when I'm home from work - ugh this day is going so slow already.

YES, FINALLY YOU FUCKER. The goddamn Cleric Beast is toast. Second try too. Holy shit what an intense fight...

This is my first "Souls" experience so I haven't encountered anything like this before. The absolutely epic music kicked in, I was in all out beast mode. Masterful dodging, molotovs flying everywhere, blood vials being downed like cold shots.

My body was literally tensed up during the fight. I honestly can say I understand Souls fans now. This is something special.

It's a mix between the hardest parts of the two previous systems. A cap on what you can carry so you can't just over stock, and them not being unlimited in supply so you don't get over reliant on them.
It does seem like it'll hurt co-op though, unless there's another way to heal besides vials. The flask system seemed to reward you to give help since you never had to think about it. Grinding for vials seems kinda going backwards at this point.

Shadows and the woods are through the password door. Witch is through the cave to the left of the Vicar.
Well, shit. I could have sworn I went down that path all the way but don't remember what area that was. EDIT: Never mind, now I remember. I was getting my forest-like areas mixed up in my head.

Yeah so what's up with the
executioner's
set having ridiculously good stats compared to everything else I have? Thought they were trying to make all the sets fairly balanced

So there's been two secret areas I've gotten (
Cainhurst
and
Nightmare with Tonsil Stone
) Anyone find a third?

I've had absolutely zero luck either getting summoned or invading today. Oh, how I miss the functioning online system from DS2 on PC right now.

It's kind of amazing how NPCs have new things to say and show up in different spots. In Cathedral Ward,
the old lady has finally snapped completely after getting over her breakdown. She thought she was my mother and gave me sedatives. When I left and came back, only a note remained on her chair. The whore's neighbor was now interested in finding a safe spot since he had overheard our conversation, but he refused to go to Odeon Cathedral and called me a liar. I went to recruit some church lady, and when I came back...the bastard was there. He seems to think that the whore disapproves of the saint
.

I'm not sure how blood transfusions work, but I got an item after one from one NPC, but then I wasn't allowed to do it with another character that offered. (I wonder if this has consequences later, or if I can just use up that item to allow me to get a new one.)

I also found a secret chest in Odeon Cathedral. That was cool.
Only one way to find out.

Oh so crazy bag dude does respawn.

So I
got captured by
one guy, frankly I did find the lantern and made it back, I think it's to early to be there.

But did that trigger, the time to move forward to night?

And is it me or did the enemies getting stronger because of that ?
And whats the tactics for the ladywolf, forgot her name, you can see her in the trailers too.

first souls game for me...
it's stunning, i can fully understand the hype now.
But i have to say the art direction for this game apposed to the previous titles is what is really making this game tick for me, it's like castlevania 3d done properly.
Such a shame about the frame rate though, it stutters and chugs all the time for me.

I thought I killed machine gun Eddie, I even got the echoes for it. However when I climbed back down he was still there running around and I just bailed and went the other way.

Right now the blood starved beast is working me over. I think I need more levels as I fought for 15 minutes and only took half his life.

I'm very under-leveled as I have only made it to or back to a lantern once or twice with any echoes. I dropped 20k right before I was going to head back and I botched the recovery. I'm only at lvl 15 right now and I started at 10

Djura
was kicking my ass, 2 fights and couldn't get him below 50%, then fight 3 I guess he felt sorry for me as he evade backstepped right off the tower as he was kicking my ass again...glad he died, but very bittersweet.

Oh and the
unseen village
is pretty damn creepy with that music...especially when you first zone in.

Quick question..last night before I stopped playing I upgraded my Arcane and I noticed that it gave me points in discovery.

What does that have to do with?

posts like this make me feel happy

You can still pick up phials in co op
Ah. So are their any real benefits of co-op besides that, though? At least in DS, you'd gain humanity but here the equivalent insight doesn't seem to get lost, it just sits in your pile no matter how often you die...

So uh... late game boss question
Is the Wet Nurse the Pinwheel of this game? Unbelievably easy fight. Or did I alter the fight beforehand by pulling a lever on some weird cocoon thing?

any tips for that hunter with the
spear gun
right after the one with the
electric mace
? hes so fucking annoying

Try going in from behind from the rooftops. There are items up there as well. Drop down to the back side into a little crevice and then sneak around behind him to get a jump with a backstab. Finish him off at the back in order not to draw the other guy in and then repeat for the guy with the Tontris. For extra help, use trees for cover and try to hit him with a few poison blades.

Now I can understand why many people are having problems with Gascoigne. I beat him on my first real attempt without too many problems. But, having started over, I think it comes down to two things:

1. Your weapon type
2. Your parrying skill

I didn't even know about the
Music Box
on my first kill, and it makes his
first form
completely trivial. I was using the Axe on my first kill though, so it was super easy to land jumping attacks every time he would do a large recovery attack and it only took 2-3 of them to finish him off. It also seems like you can get him very low prior to his
transformation
, since I think I had him down to 1/3 before that point.

I ended up using the Threaded Cane this time, which is crap for bosses when you aren't up close and he
changed at 1/2 health

All of his attacks, save one seem easily parryable. I think the biggest enemy on this fight, is the camera (again).

I'm trying to find a coop partner before BSB for the last 20 minutes without any luck. I like the way the Souls games let me summon someone better.

It does seem like it'll hurt co-op though, unless there's another way to heal besides vials. The flask system seemed to reward you to give help since you never had to think about it. Grinding for vials seems kinda going backwards at this point.

There are people that would complain that a lot about these games feel like going backwards. I think it's fine. They combined the best two limiting factors about the healing system from the previous games. The only complaint I have is that you can't just get an auto refill from stock by touching a lantern.

I do however prefer the co op and pvp system of the previous games over this one, but I do like how they made a way to have it make sense in universe between each in a way that differentiates them from each other.

Woah I didn't realise you kept your echoes. Thanks that's awesome

What am I supposed to with the
Red Jeweled Brooch
? Anyone know?

You can
give it to a little girl in a window in one of the first areas if you want, or just use it for the gem. If you talked to that girl before the Father G fight she would have given you a music box and hinted about the brooch.

For anyone who's having trouble with any part of the game, use the Axe 2H power Attack because it's INSANELY OP. I keep the axe in the off hand of my dex build for that move exclusively.

It's such a good attack, I used it to kill those annoying gun guys in the first part of the forest, snuck up behind them, spun attack to kill all four at once lol so satisfying

Quick question..last night before I stopped playing I upgraded my Arcane and I noticed that it gave me points in discovery.

What does that have to do with?

Discovery ups the chance of mobs dropping items.

If you press "R3" or "L3" on the stats screen, you can cursor over every stat and it will tell you what it does.

Anyone care to comment on how pvp seems so far? I was really into it in dark souls 2 but not tried it here so far.

I keep wondering if the new mechanics and faster pace might be a bad thing for it.

(story spoilers, would not recommend un-hiding anything until you have beaten the game or are at least quite far)

Does anyone else feel like they're done with From's
all-story
at this point?

I'm torn on it, because while I think Bloodborne is my favorite iteration of this they've put out so far, I'm also disappointed with how predictable many elements of the series are becoming. Part of what makes the series so intriguing is the mystery, but at this point it's getting kinda clear that a lot of From's lore and story development process is kind of a Mad Lib.

The (uber spoilers!)
cosmic horror stuff
that eventually appears is at least a really awesome coat of paint.

You use it to buy things and initiate co op? You also get a lot of souls.

Quite frankly I thought the humanity system was stupid, I saw it and decided to not worry about it and just stay undead the whole game since there was no difference in being alive, then in the off chance I needed help I popped the item to become human.

Someone invaded me with a hunter axe and seemed to forget that guns were in the game as I proceeded to shoot him everytime he tried to do anything

If you touched the beast skull behind the lantern and watched the cutscene, yes.

I personally think the cave is easier to go to first, then go to the password door.

You also get an essential game system unlock if you go through the cave and beat the boss.

That is hugely helpful, thanks!
approximately where is the password door?
thanks again!
