Yes, but honestly it is not that bad. Your ability to better dodge, parry and be a general bad ass will rise as you play more.

Not to mention, you get much more echoes later on in the game :P

Fuck frenzy. I'm not mad in a "Goddammit, screwed up again" way. I'm just pissed because fuck frenzy and fuck those
giant singing brain things.

Killing him certainly isn't a breeze. Or is it? The guy at the bottom of that tower is a piece of shit too! Heh.

Killing him is easy as hell, push that fucker right off the ledge. His friend is harder but you can use the ramps to distance yourself and kill him with fire.

Anyone else getting odd audio glitches in Old Yarnham? Seems to occur each time I enter an area that has fire. It sounds like the initial sound of the fire skips a few times before playing correctly.

Yes, I have noticed this as well, and frame rates in multi player in this particular area of the game are horrendous.

jesus I have to get used to the rhythm of this game. I knew how functionally different the combat actually was, but for some reason I still unconsciously tried to approach my first few encounters like it was a Dark Souls game. I gotta shake this habit fast given the speed with which I was crushed lol

no Amir0x, no. There's no turtling, get out there buddy!

Question regarding a NPC named E
ileen

I have killed 7 bosses and never talked to her once before now. Is she gone? I want that
blade of mercy

Hahaha now you'll hate me, how the fuck do you push?!

Made it to Old Yarnharm. Was welcomed by
machine gun guy

Went up his tower. Couldn't beat. He's too fast, too strong. I pushed him over the edge lol. I climbed down. I saw the loot light too on a ledge, too high to reach. I thought the fall killed him...

But he (or a second one ???) ganked me on the ground right after. I ran away TT

How to beat/avoid ?

Yeah, I had the same experience...

It was a bolt of lighting to the brain when I realized... Wait I actually go all out and I am rewarded with health!?!

I know there are those out there that hate the lack of shields, but the dodge mechanic is really well done in this game.

What kills me now is letting my guard down and running out of stamina to pull off a narrow escape when dealing with more than 3 enemies. I blame this on lack of sleep, too much beer and an overall sense of being a beast after defeating a boss and I just stroll into the next area like Terminator.

Ok so I'm stuck.
Just finally beat the White Beast with the ball and chain and went to the little underground vase room. However there is nowhere to go past that room as that one door is closed (Yoshi's Door lol)
. Where do I go from here? Back the other way?

All I want for Christmas is some PvP. Some PvP - just some PvP.

Goddamn badass. I want to get more insight just to see what else I discover. Should I retrek through the game?

You need to beat boss 4 first.

Same here, I tried to fight that giant executioner guy (I guess hes not really a boss) but he keeps kicking my ass. And I cant figure out how to level up.. how do you? Or is it later on in the game? I just got into Central Yarnham place so I just began.

Oh, VA.

So hard to find the parry timing. I haven't parried her ONCE yet :(

I would like to push back on something:

Back on OT1, someone claimed there were no iframes when rolling without a lock on. I'm now even more certain that this is completely wrong, unless I've been absurdly, absurdly lucky with the hit boxes.

You need to face a boos (don't have to kill) or find an item that gives you an insight. Then you can level up in the dream.

Actually that is a great question...

Easiest way to do it. Climb up the ladder, get up there and dash towards him weapon a swinging, he will back away from you right off the damn tower.

Save and reset the level and his loot will be at the top of the tower again.

I have no idea O_O I just remember the
mother brain falling down

You can drop something into it in another area. Hint: Look for an elevator you can walk into a door from midway through going up/down.

Thanks guys! I actually started going that way but never finished. I helped me friend out and thought it was only to get a
Blood Rock / Healing Chime thing
.

Has anyone tried wearing
the Mensis Cage
while fighting
any of the Great One bosses? It says it facilitates communication.

Can't wait to get back to this tonight. Just beat BsB (my
3rd
boss), and now moving onto new areas that I haven't explored yet.

Ok I figured it was something like that. Kinda sucks though cause I really want to beat this big guy but my attacks arent all that powerful

You only have to beat him once. He doesn't respawn.
If you made him fall and he dropped his loot in a place you can't get it you just have to go to hunters dream then back to the level and the loot will be in the place where you fight him

Just a quick question, what are the downsides to a co-op game other than a foreigner stealing your Blood Echoes?

When you ring the bell to summon people you aren't just opening your game to people that want to help but also the ones that want to invade you.

And on a more personal note. Some bosses become a joke if you summon 2 people and it takes away some of that rewarding feeling of finally killing them. But if you are stuck and just want to move on it's allways a valid option

I'll get used to it. I'm good at fast paced action games, and this is not one of the faster ones.

Please stream?!

You streaming?

Not yet, I wanted to learn the basics before I embarrassed myself on a stream lol. You guys would be dying laughing how silly I was in these first few encounters.

switched from the Kirkhammer to Hunter Axe. should have picked this from the beginning. the L2 and R2 attacks are amazing. knocking back the fatties is so good

also i hope i didn't miss an encounter with
Eileen the crow
, i didn't see her anywhere in the cathedral. just beat the Old Yharnam boss and went back to Oeden chapel to progress forward. haven't bought the emblem from the shop yet

Anyone want to just summon one another for PvP and take turns killing each other? Other Vilebloods? I've been doing this for an hour now.

Level 64.

I haven't even beaten Boss 3 yet!? I'm lost now since I switched over to Cathedral Ward :(
You can get to boss 3 and 4 from there. No worries, just keep exploring. Some people get boss 4 before 3, but they usually complain about it having high HP.

CAN you even get invaded in this game?

I

Yeah there is a second hunter.

Those NPC hunters come in pairs. It is really annoying.

I'm at the part with all the snake creatures. 30k souls, and I'm terrified to progress because of the big snakes. Are the difficult to fight? Is there a shortcut nearby that I can open up?

Woot, Vicar Amelia is down.

Love how everyone's carefully spoiling their posts then you post a goddamn screenshot with a boss name, environment and item.

I don't think a game has ever made me care less about its performance. This game runs truly badly, terrible framerate/audio glitches around Old Yharnam and graphical/texture glitches everywhere but I just don't care, its atmosphere trumps all.

Quick question about Chalice dungeons:
I bet blood-starved beast and received the chalice so I now have the ingredients for my first chalice dungeon, can I just do that any time I feel like? Is the dungeon just a one shot or do I get multiple goes at one dungeon until I'm out.

There's one shortcut deep inside.

Big snakes aren't too bad, just zerk them down.

FROM software strategies for all their games: If in doubt, run the fuck away.
