While I'm sitting at the credits, trying to decide if I want to do NG+ or a new character.

I'm leaning on NG+ because I still don't know all the NPC interactions/set locations etc. that I want to do a 100% run on another character.

I don't enjoy my build currently though. I went STR/Arcane but I never really find use for the
Arcane spells
, using Tonitrus & Ludwigs.

What's so special about the Blade of Mercy? Really low base stats... I assume that Arcane attack +30 is worth it?

If the wiki is accurate, at +10 it has S scaling with skill, B scaling with Arcane (does both physical and arcane damage). Considering the speed of the weapon and low stamina consumption, coupled with that excellent scaling, it could be an excellent weapon for PvP and PvE once fully upgraded.

Can someone confirm that I'm going the right
way.

So I beat the boss with all those bodies and crap, lol terrible description, I know. Went to the lecture room, exited the door at the end and am now at mensins nightmare, or w/e it's called. Am I moving to quickly? Did I skip anything?

Nah I've got the first one, I've been everywhere I can, there's no fear or anything, nothing drawing me in and I'm pretty patient too
I gotta kill the boss, I just can't get to him without someone one bombing me and I'm spending my time looking at the loading screen.
Any tips are welcome.

Just run past the fodder enemies. There's also a shortcut to lead you right to the fight.

Hmmm. Since the blunderbuss is the best way to beat the Father, I recommend just practicing countering the giants. That'll get you some blood packs and souls too while you're at it. That and just practicing dodging out of the way of frantic attacks I guess?

You should start with a small minimum of blood vials when you die.
Having to do farming runs is daft.

They can't have NOT been aware of this. The way vials work was obviously a very specific directive (probably from Miyazaki) and it's just for his own arbitrary creative reasons. I'm pretty into hardcore/obtuse stuff in games, and even I got sick of going through 4 loading screens to go farm viles to make more attempts at a boss.

You know Im 99% sure there are no Mimic's in Bloodborne, I still hit every chest before I open it

Pity theres no way to keep the weapon unlocks across characters, theres some builds I'd like to try out but would be getting the weapon so late it feels vaguely pointless

i was in the same predicament. got up to VA in ng+ before i started fresh with my bloodtinge build.

If he hits me ONCE I'm fucked though, and his wolf form takes like 20 hits.

I beat him by doing the the shotgun counter and when he was at half health I kept beating on him so he couldn't transform, he eventually pushes me away to do it but his health was really low at that point. I threw a Molotov at him and finished him with a few strikes.

Honestly, if you can, pay attention to his health, when he get to half don't stop beating on him. Hell keep trying to shotgun you away but keep at it as much as you can.

Its a cheesy way to beat him but it worked for me.

If you're getting killed really easily you many need to change your gear and do some leveling up.

Which one did you get? There are three.

Endgame spoilers warning.
Fought Gerhman, I didn't like the idea of him killing me. I know there was no way I could do the other one - I think I fucked up too much, letting NPC's die when I sent them places, missing NPC interactions/quest lines etc.

Whats your plan with Bloodtinge build? I'm curious!

Anybody know anything about this?

In the aqueducts there is supposedly a secret path in this little empty room off a wall. Anyone know how to get through?

Is it an Illusory Wall? (I didn't play DS1 or 2)

The "hidden path waits ahead" message has 84 appraisals. I doubt it would be that high if someone were playing a trick.

Something I don't get -
why are the NPC hunters so fucking hard? They have more health bosses.

They're more akin to the black phantom NPCs in Demon's Souls than the pushover invaders in Dark Souls. From my experience they give better loot than the bosses :p

I agree with the former, the latter just seems bizarre, why should "we" bother "discouraging" it? If people prefer to play with more of a "safety net" thats entirely their perogative, its not like it affects anyone else.
I don't mean that we should discourage grinding, but that we should discourage the perspective that grinding is necessary to succeed in this game.

This isn't a good post. I don't think anyone's saying you should get 20 blood vials back every time, but there's definitely a problem with farming. If I have no idea what I'm doing against a certain boss and lose all my blood, I shouldn't have to go kill enemies over and over before I can even have the minimal amount necessary to fight them again. Starting with a minimum of five or so (and letting people get more that aren't stored past 20, so you need to start fresh after each one) would not only make it fairer for people starting off again after a big loss, but would also encourage people to not use them that much since you'd rarely have the full amount possible.

I don't buy your argument (that it's set up this way to keep you from relying on the blood vials) because that's exactly what it does. If you farm, you can basically always have 20 with you, so you can use 20 per life safe in the knowledge that you can just farm more (because you have a lot of free time I guess). Compare this to the Estus that makes sure you really value what little health you have, and requires you to consume a precious resource (and beat a boss) if you really want more.

It adds nothing to the game but farming (for souls or vials), which isn't something I consider fun. It takes away the careful resource management that the estus forced upon you. It's not a good design choice. Estus eliminated farming (not just discouraged it) and made you be smart about resource use. Why not both? lol
It's a great design choice. A return to Demon's Souls. The estus flask lessened the need for resource management, but you are praising it for "adding" that. Your perspective is backwards.

Have you been summoned at all? I've been doing that a good bit. Even a few uses add up when you just focus on that, I guess.

I'm on my 10th boss now and this is the third time I've run low IIRC. I never once ran around farming in Demon's, Dark, or Dark 2 and I did a similar mix of progressing and helping with bosses.
I don't co-op much. When I do, I haven't found it necessary to heal. Co-op bosses are easy mode. They tend to focus on one person, so you can just focus on dodging until they go to someone else. Then you rip into them since they ignore you. Repeat.

I'm not saying that it's unreasonable to run low on vials. I fought my first Chalice boss while having 0 vials. But I also beat him while having 0 vials. This game is intense, and you get hit a lot - no argument there!

Everything has scaling in Arcane, but it doesn't do anything unless you apply a gem to it that makes the weapon elemental. You also lose the scaling with the other stats when you do that as well.

Edit: actually I am stupid and you may be right. I'm sorry.

So I defeated the second boss and got to the
gatling gun part in old yarnham.

during our fight I pretty much kicked him off the roof and he dropped an item. Is it anything special?

I'd be careful about attributing balance issues to Miyazaki's design (or care/consideration). Dark Souls 1 had Iron Flesh, Drake Sword, Gold-Hemmed Robes, and Crystal Ring shield at launch, all broken as fuck at launch until patches fixed them.

I'd love to see the vial carry limit lowered.

Why does this game hate Skill builds? I'm in Byrgenwerth and have yet to find another weapon that scales well with Skill. I know that it's possible to get another one by
killing Eileen
but I'd rather not. If I went with Strength I'd be able to choose from a Kirkhammer, Ludwig's Hold Blade, the Stake Driver, or my starting weapon right now. C'mon From, why'd you create a game with faster combat and then throw slow and heavy weapon choices at the player?

Is it just me or is the
Wet Nurse
unbelievably easy for such a late-game boss? It almost felt incomplete, just kept doing the same thing and at the end when the health bar was empty, I thought something else was gonna happen but it just ended.

I'd like to see it lowered so PVP is less ridiculous, but in turn they need to make you always spawn with a minimum number of them.

I need to stop reading this thread, but I can't help myself. Things are being spoiled and I'm not even clicking on any spoilers that I don't recognize or are questionable. I think I know most of the locations and at least half the bosses.

Is there any way to get the
Blades of Mercy
so late game?

I've beaten 10 bosses and think it's too late now. Can't find
Eileen
anywhere.

I agree i think its my second or third favorite designed boss but the damage is so low you can take some of her combos if need be.

BSB down, easiest boss so far.

82k souls.

Linked earlier probably, but the dupe glitch is out:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N6BSyqBVks

Manipulates storage again, so your heart is gold etc etc

I'm happy this was found because it explains all the issues I had with storage and disappearing items early on - swapping between two characters creates issues, to say the least. Not too useful for me since I don't need more levels or vials (and what I'd dupe are blood rocks, but this doesn't seem to work with mats?), but for those who keep running out and don't want to farm, it could be useful.

Still don't feel bad for duping pure bladestone the second that shit finally dropped. Once I had like 100 of them I just started giving them out to people lol
