Screw the Blood-Starved Beast and this game. I've already beaten eleven of the bosses and then restarted to try something else. This motherfucker though keeps taking me from full to dead with one single attack instantly. Doesn't matter that it's telegraphed and I dodge. This fight is so dumb. It's basically Flamelurker spaz mode the entire time.

edit: just killed him again, but seriously screw this guy. NOT FUN.

I'm confused as to what Insight is/does. I have 5 in the top right corner, is that normal for just downing the first boss? Playing Waste of Skin, game feels much harder than it should be. Like harder than soul level one run in Dark Souls.

Bump for new page:
Are there any cool or useful weapons that benefit from the Skill attribute, aside from the cane which I don't care for? I stupidly raised it to 17 at start of game and my str is 9. I'm using the axe because of how good it is, but it benefits most from strength. :(
I don't want to re roll. I'm at 4th boss. I wonder if I should start grinding souls to raise strength at least to 16 so I can try out the Kirkhammer.

Each level costing me 100k now :lol

Is my game bugged ? After the orphanage boss in the Upper Cathedral
Where you go fight Ebrieta. I died, and trying to go back, the elevator isn't there, and i can't call it, i get the "device not operable. Is there a trick ?

Tried reloading and still nothing. Can anyone try summoning to get be back down there ?

Coming from where I couldn't even beat
the Cleric Beast, I ran into Father Gascoigne and on my 2nd try defeated him.

This game has a satisfaction level that's simply bonkers.

Here's my footage. So happy I did this before I logged to eat. At one point in this video, I was down to maybe 1 HP lol.

I would have been dead at the point where you had 1 HP. I beat the
Cleric Beast on my first try and I still can't beat this mother fucker
.

S
hadow of Yharnam
defeated on my first try!

I had 60k echoes on me as well.

There are others, whether you'll like them is up to you. Also kirkhammer isn't that great, cool looking but lackluster.

Try dodging ahead of time,,this video show s it prety well.

I really wish enemies and health would reset at a lantern without need to travel back to the Hunters Dream. With the awful loading, it makes getting more healing items after a boss attempt feel like such a grind.

More discussion on Insight (could be considered large, don't read until you're done with NG or want to figure things out on your own):

Goddamnit, this is world tendency done right. Yes, it is roughly a difficulty slider, but with some give and take either way. Enemies have more HP/higher defense in addition to discernible animation and attack differences, and the price of Vials at the shop increases with # of insight).

Awesome, awesome shit.
I don't get it... what's the point of having high Insight then? More discovery or blood echoes? There has to be some pro to having more Insights.

My brother just showed me the dupe glitch since I didn't really understand it from the videos.

Should be patched fairly quickly I'm guessing.

Walk to the very end right corner of the plank facing towards the center of the room. Simply walk off and you'll land on another plank.

That might be what I'm doing.
I took an elevator from a room at the Cathedral Ward lantern and then to a tower with a bunch of sniper guys. Going down from inside the tower is a bunch of wooden planks that you have to platform through. I keep missing this jump to reach a platform that has a door.

Are you talking about Healing church workshop? If yes, there is a little bridge that you can drop down.

We're all talking about the same place, and I can get to all the parts yall say, but I just can't get to the bottom. There's a part I get to that doesn't seem like I can drop any further without dying. It's a like super thin plank.

Finally managed to find a new boss but
Holy shit, my Threaded Cane is useless against Rom the Spider. I hit for 10 Hp a piece. WTF!?

Yeah, it would definitely help out a lot. It would also be great if you could teleport between lamps instead of having to go through Hunter's Dream to get everywhere. Load times are just too awful.

I had a really hard time with that fight but because I kept getting poisoned and having to spend ages farming antidotes. Didn't get hit by the 1 shot attack at all despite fighting him about 8 times, so I guess I have strange luck

I'm curious why they choose to design the game that way, I hate having to go through 2 loading screen just to go to a new zone.

Finally killed that fucking NPC in the cathedral at the end of the
crow questline
. Took me over an hour.

BUT.

OMG. I finally like a god now dancing around spraying blood everywhere. The twinblades upgraded to S skill scaling and with some nice gems.... Wow. The twinblade dual mode R2 destroys.

Requires total close quarters combat but it feels great. Keeping the cane alongside me for range.

I don't get it either. It's got to be a conscious design choice... but why?

I can't play this game GAF :( It's literally too difficult for me. I've been stuck in Central Yharnam for the past 3 hours, making no progress. Haven't seen the first boss yet, or really much of anything at all. I can't get past either of the big dudes.

Ludwig's Holy Blade I believe scales well off of both strength and skill.

Calling off my cry for help. Whilst waiting for assistance, I remembered the hollow feeling from a co-op boss compared to defeating it yourself.

Vicar Amelia
is more than doable, it just requires a consistent play. I should also stock up on blood vials as I'm going in there with about 7. Just wish the camera was a little bit better sometimes. Does numbing mist work well with this boss?

Someone wanna come to
Lost Forest
or whatever and help me with the boss that has 3
skeleton dudes
? The mage guy is beating my ass and constantly distracting me from the two that charge you. Sign is popped and I've been waiting for at least 20 minutes with no answer. Settings are set to worldwide.

edit: I switched my controls around to have L1 as the camera lock on and L3 and transform and it's been almost a revelation. It helps a ton in locking on quickstep unlock do a dodge roll while also retaining full camera control. Much much better. Still need help with those dudes though.

Saw spear levels well with Skill. Plus you still have time to do a quality build. Ludwigs Sword also scales well with a quality build. Shoot for 25 str/25 Skl.

I realized a 'bug' that can help a few people. So, I was fighting Blood Starved for the 10th time, with a coop buddy and 15k echoes, my partner died and i was poisones and with no medicine, so I closes the game mid fight (I was alive). When I got back, I had all my echoes and I was standing at the door, so I could go back and apend those souls.

TL:DR - Quit a fight midway, and you save your souls, starting at the door of the boss.
